Poor service. Stopped by the restaurant after the Father's Day rush. The restaurant was at half capacity. While some tables were uncleared, there were just as many that were clean. Our family of four waited at the front door to be seated. We waited and waited. Finally, when we were seated, it took some time before our order was taken and then to wait for it to be cooked. If staff made it a habit to pick up plates on their way to the kitchen, regardless of whether it was their table, service might be better. Food was ok, eggs were cooked properly. We stopped in Grimsby on the way to Niagara Falls because we needed to charge our electric car. We happened upon Elm Street Café Grill and decided to give their all-day breakfast a try. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our drinks order was taken right away and we were given menus. My husband ordered the Eggs Grimsby and I ordered the Traditional breakfast with bacon. The portions were a really good size and everything was very tasty. The traditional breakfast had 4 slices of bacon, 2 large eggs, lots of home fries and a side of toast. I asked for sunny-side up eggs and that's exactly what I got. The home fries were pretty good, too. The bacon was nice and crispy. My husband got his Eggs Grimsby and although he'd asked for extra-soft poached eggs, they were actually a little closer to soft-medium. Otherwise, everything was very good. The restaurant and washrooms were both very clean and everyone was very friendly. We'd definitely go back the next time we have to stop to charge our car :) read more

I went to Electric dinner on a Wednesday night. I had a house glass of Pinot Grigio which was very good and my friends had an orange creamsicle type drink which was amazing . We had the brussels sprouts and breaded bocconcini . It was all amazing . Then I had the provolone grilled cheese which was divine. Served at the perfect temp. so you have the stringy cheese happening. Love love. If you know you know! I got a kale salad instead of fries which was also excellent. I was stuffed. I've been here for breakfast a few times and it's great, more recently we went for a burger and it really pleasantly surprised me! It was cooked perfectly, and the toppings were fully loaded. Both the fries and house salad were well done and larger portions. The family diner feel always seems take a little longer but the food has never disappointed. read more

The cafe is clean and welcoming. We ordered a late breakfast, and the food was very good. The service, however, was extremely slow. We were seated promptly, but from the time we got seated to when we got food was about 40 minutes. They seemed to be understaffed, and their wait staff didn't seem to be used most efficiently. It would have been nice to be told that wait times would be long so we weren't just left wondering when our food would come out. If you are ok with waiting and not in a time crunch, it's a nice spot for a meal. read more

We just had breakfast at this place, only our third time there last 12 months. Our last two experiences were not great, but I always give a place another chance. The dining room was almost empty in the morning and there were only 2 servers. Our server appeared to be pre-occupied with some of her friends at another table and elected to chat on and on and on, to the point where I asked the other server if she could help us. She declined and said our server " is currently busy with another table". She was busy.....chatting about the weekend and other personal items. We sat there waiting until she finished her important gossiping before coming back to us to take our order. Our order finally showed up, my eggs were cold, and potatoes were burnt. The other order had the steak full of blood and not prepared as requested. Overall a terrible experience, both in food and service. I am a very good tipper nothing less than 25%, but this time less than 10% was my generous tip for our server. Three strikes and you're out Elm Street Dinner !!. read more

Located in the plaza next to Food Basics, this is a convenient place to grab a bite! We arrived around 2 pm for late brunch and lunch. The eggs Benny with smoked salmon really hit the spot! They charged an extra two $2 to substitute home fries for a garden salad. It was served with a garlic vinegarette. There clubhouse sandwich was gigantic and we shared a poutine. The poutine was salty and tasty with real curds. The food is simple but the portions are generous. It's not a place I would go out of my way to visit but convenient if you are hungry. read more

Get the eggs benedict. The hollandaise sauce is amazing and you will enjoy every bite. Then you'll mop it up with toast too because the sauce is that good. The homefries were also good. The staff are also very friendly, and helped us explain the difference between the special and normal price, the special of which required a drink purchase. The end result was that after the discount on the special, we got the coffee for $1 (with unlimited refills). Unfortunately, it did take a while for the food to come. Fortunately, they have free wifi, but it needs to be accessed through a Cogeco wifi point (30 minute access x 2 per month, per email) and they're not in range of any Pokemon Gyms or Pokestops anyway! My fiance and I ate here on 8/2 while on our way to Niagara Falls. I'm sorry Wally E. and his wife had a bad experience, but ours was great (even though we were also there at the start of the same holiday weekend). We were seated immediately, the service was prompt and courteous, and the portions were more than generous. And the taste? Awesome! We will definitely eat here again when we head back to the Toronto area next spring. read more

Basic Diner vibes here. We ordered a BLT and a clubhouse with homefries for takeout. BLT was good, club was decent. The homefries we didn't like, as they were more like warm potatoes when we were expecting deep fried potatoes. I guess that's just really preference though. They also offer fresh squeezed OJ and Grapefruit juice, which we enjoyed immensely. Overall, we probably would come back here, just because it was good, decent food. However, there are lots of places with GREAT food for the same price elsewhere. read more

My wife and I arrived for breakfast at 10:30 AM and both ordered the breakfast special. The food was very good, nice portion size and the service was just okay after waiting to be served for some time. When we received the bill, we were charged for the traditional breakfast rather than the chef's special that is available Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM until 11:00 AM. When we questioned the charge, we were told that because it was a holiday, they charged the higher price. However, this was not told to us prior to ordering and there was no mention of this rule anywhere either on the menu or in the restaurant. Rather than make a scene, I went home and called to speak to the owner to question this policy of charging more on holidays. They said "too bad, so sad." It has nothing to do with the additional cost, it is just the principle. It is bad business to mislead people. read more

I finally decided to try out this place as I have been walking past it daily. There is a large banner outside advertising a breakfast special but don't be fooled. The special is only available Monday to Friday and they failed to state this on the banner. Instead they have these details on the menu. I would say that's a bit sneaky. I ordered scrambled eggs and toast. The waitress retuned with a small portion of scrambled egg, some toast and the rest of the plate was piled high with home fries. If I wanted home fries then I would have ordered home fries. I pointed out the error to the waitress but she was less than helpful. The eggs were nothing special and toast is just toast. I expected them to adjust my bill because of the error but I found out later that they had charged me for a dish off the menu which happens to include home fries. Overall the decor is nice, the food is average and it's a bit pricey. There's a hidden gem a few kms away on highway 8. I think I will stick to that one. read more

Had the breakfast special, 2 eggs over easy bacon hash browns and gluten free toast. The eggs were nice but the bacon and hash browns were deep-fried so no flavor. My husband had the same with sausage and rye bread, sausages were deep-fried too....blech. My gluten free toast was squished, barely toasted with zero flavour. I don't know why they wouldn't shop at one of the nearby gf bakeries for nice bread. This was frozen superstore bread for an additional ~$1.50. I don't mind paying extra but they ought to try to make it a good tasting bread. I doubt the owner would have prepared and ate his/her meal that way. We won't be back. read more

We went here for supper on a recent Friday evening. Only a few patrons present. I asked for water when the waitress arrived. It took her a few minutes to bring the water, even though she was NOT busy. We ordered our meals when she brought the water. A few minutes later I asked for some bread or rolls to eat while we waited. Her reply, load enough for all in the room to hear was "We DON'T JUST give bread away! Do you want to order garlic bread?" I declined the garlic bread. I DID NOT LEAVE A TIP FOR THE WAITRESS. I paid our bill and left. The waitress followed us out to our car in front of the restaurant and asked why I didn't leave her a tip. I pointed out the bread comment as the reason why. Her response was " YOU ARE THE RUDEST F**KING PEOPLE I'VE EVER MET!" And then flipped us the Bird. I suggest dining anywhere else, perhaps go hungry, rather than eating here! read more

Love this place! We are weekend breakfast regulars and even though it can be very busy we find the service to be prompt and very friendly. The breakfast dishes, we typically get an omelet, are always good. I've heard that the Greek inspired dishes are very good. read more
