It's easy to miss The Egg Station, driving in Mulberry -- it lives in a plaza that's set back from the road, and doesn't really grab the eye. This is a common problem along Shepherd Road, and the two restaurants that occupied the space prior to The Egg Station suffered greatly from location-based troubles. Some locations work against a restaurant; this plaza has that problem, and honestly, I didn't expect The Egg Station to thrive in it, no matter how strong their offerings were. Then I noticed the parking lot full, and folks parked two deep on the adjacent grass, during its business hours. On weekdays. At 10:30am. At 7:30am. This place is hopping pretty much around the clock, when open -- indeed, if you're looking for a quiet time there, try dropping in at one in the afternoon, or right as doors open in the morning -- and any place that can regularly achieve crowds like that is worth a visit. I'm so glad I did. This is exactly the breakfast and lunch spot that Mulberry has sorely needed. Big enough to handle its crowds, staffed amply enough that food reaches table quickly and drinks stay topped off, open and inviting, a little noisy at times, but I've never seen it too noisy to visit with your tablemates, and hey, the sound of fellow happy people is a good thing. And yet, what really makes The Egg Station stand out is a large crew with some of the best camaraderie and team interaction I've seen to date. The manager clearly understands, and appreciates, the need for a lower guest to employee ratio, even with the additional cost involved, and more, this team works together beautifully. I typically sit at the counter, and there, I'm treated to pieces of the conversations between employees. I listen to them look out for one another, coordinate tasks, catch up recognizably as friends with a degree of sincerity that's a little disarming, in a world full of corporatized restaurant culture and artificial mock-warmth. Nothing's plastic about this crew's smiles, or their commitment to one another, to their guests, and to the restaurant, and their warmth is quite contagious. This is a really, really special group of people, and as much as I like the food -- it's simple, straightforward breakfast and lunch fare, few surprises, but that's exactly what a place like this ought to be -- it's the people that bring me back, again and again. Having my morning meal in an atmosphere of warmth, cooperation and positivity sets the tone for the rest of my day, and I really do feel that The Egg Station's not simply selling breakfast and lunch, but also selling the climate in which we enjoy that meal, and the experience of being surrounded by a particularly well-run restaurant full of warm, welcoming hosts. Many places offer an adequately warm experience; this one has offered, every time I visited, an unforgettably, upliftingly warm experience, and that's quite unusual. I've not tried lunch fare there, but the breakfasts are quite good. Simple, classic, effective, no great surprises on the menu, what arrives at your table will be exactly as the description suggested, and again, that's very much what you're likely after for brunch; the morning's too early for playful amuses-bouche or daring fusion cuisine experiments. Instead, you'll find solid, dependable American breakfast classics. The omelets are particularly good, the eggs crepe-thin, solid ingredients cooked into them, cheese in the middle as the egg-crepe is folded over onto itself. This is a really nice touch, and makes the omelet structurally sound, easy to dice up and dine upon, and the stratification really helps the flavors to stand out. (Their bacon and cheese omelet was, to my surprise, particularly a standout this way.) The half-shaved, half-smashed classic home fries are a splendid complement, nicely browned and crisp at the edges, tender and still fluffy in the middle. Folks in more of a carbohydrate mood would do well to check out the fruit-filled French toast, often in rotation on the daily specials -- it really is like eating pie for breakfast, and while it proved a bit too rich for me, I cannot help but imagine it's likely to be many folks' favorite menu offering. The coffee's smooth and well-paired to the entrees, a light morning blend with a surprising, if subtle-building, caffeine kick. I struggle to find criticism; my only real point of could-be-better is that the front reception area was clearly not designed for the kind of volume this place attracts -- it's a bit small. The young lady working the register does a great job keeping traffic flowing, mind you, but at peak hours, when there's both a line for a table and a line to pay, the front foyer area can get crowded. Be patient, smile, and accept that the place is simply more popular, and busy, than anticipated. This is the brunch restaurant Mulberry needed. Solidly good food, but more, spectacular people and atmosphere. They really brighten my morning; may they brighten yours too. read more

you know how when you think about a homecooked meal after a long day, the taste and the ambiance are all you care about? not whether or not the floor was sticky or whether the table was broken. Not even how long you worked or how long it took for the food to come, once it hits the table, that's it. The food is all that matters. The food at egg station is outstanding and I've NEVER had a bad meal. Now, the reason I came here is to talk about the chicken tenders. I hope the chef reads this because I NEED you to know how important, life-altering, standard-setting and just all-around amazing your chicken tenders are. I absolutely love this place! The hobby and I just moved to this side of town from Tampa and This has become our normal Sunday brunch spot. The staff is so friendly and they are always very quick even when their super busy. You get a lot of food for a good price and everything we have had so far is delicious! If I could give you 0 stars I would, horrible customer service skills in the staff who for 4 different days have been combative and refuse to take my orders and taking money away from me because they had 1 incident where they got yelled at by a customer and now they are affraid to do their jobs and keeping me from being able to do mine, if you're going to just refuse every delivery order that comes through the door then why even be partnered with a delivery company in the first place. Also you need to have a talk with your staff who always gets agrivated when I come in for an order that is 1. unprofessional and 2. is childish. read more

Under new ownership for only a short time and already falling down hill! Chicken uncooked, biscuits hard as a rock and gravy has no sausage. Also maybe seen our waitress twice for the hour and half we sat there. Poor hostess had to run around clean tables fill drinks and so on. To had maybe 2 pieces of roast beef to a club sandwich upcharge $3.95 to an already $9 club. It's sad we loved this place I gave it 5 stars before today! I must say an amazing little place here in Mulberry. You know they're doing something right when you pull up and there's hardly any parking left although we did find a parking spot right up front. The atmosphere was really nice clean service was good other our waitress was a little slow due to the amount of people in there no fault of her own she was working really hard. I had the station Bowl special which is homemade grits topped with sausage gravy scrambled eggs bacon and cheese. It was a very good choice I would definitely be recommending this restaurant to friends. read more

Saw all the good reviews of this place, thought it might do well for a quick breakfast..... When we first sat down the waitress laid a note card down on the table and said "these are our specials"... It seems that she was either in a bad mood or just not feeling us being there because we didn't feel welcome at all..... The food was okay, but there wasn't any seasoning on anything.... When it came time to pay the tab, I tried to hand it to the waitress as soon as she gave it to me but she walked away. When she returned for the payment it seems that she turned it over to someone else to complete because it's like she couldn't remember who ate what.... When i went in with my two little kids we were just told to sit anywhere with no guidance or menus which isn't a really big deal. We sat down waiting and waiting but that's when we saw a white couple walking in and they get sat immediately even giving them menus before even getting seated. Love this place. We only found out about this place a year or so ago and I just can't help coming back. Not only is the food fantastic but everyone that works there is friendly and personable. If you've never gone I highly suggest it. If you can't make it in before 2:30pm then come on Friday! They've finally extended their hours and are now serving an all you can eat fish fry on Fridays! Was seated really quickly and was greeted by our server In good time.. We ordered,food came out quick, but not hot, warm at best.. I had the hungry man breakfast with a side Of biscuits and gravy. The bacon was cheap pre-cooked bacon, the sausage links, the skin fell off inside was mush. The eggs, perfectly cooked. The gravy was good.. the biscuits were hard and stale the only saving grace is I let them soak in the gravy for a bit before eating to soften. The hash browns were under cooked and tasted like dehydrated hash browns that were not cooked properly. My meal, with a large OJ...$ 18.53.. wow!! Not bad if the food was good. My wife had chicken and waffles a side of fruit and coffee. The chicken and waffle she said were okay The fruit was a small dish of fruit that was browning And appeared to be old. Out the door with a 15% tip, a $40 dollar bill For a crappy breakfast. If you're going to charge a premium price, use premium products. When you order the Chef salad and it says you get sliced egg, DON'T count on it, three times I have ordered the Chef salad and three times no EGGS. I went with friends and the food was good and plentiful. However, two people in our group ordered hash browns and were asked if they wanted onions. Then found out when they got the bill that they were charged 50 cents extra. Also, my friend asked for salsa to go on her eggs. Again, she was charged 50 cents extra for about 2 tablespoons of salsa. We considered that to be a condiment. The point being that these charges should have been disclosed up front. read more

Maybe everyone in my party just happened to go on an "off" day because the gravy on the biscuits tasted like a tin can, the eggs tasted like they sat on a warmer tray for an hour and the pancakes were cold chewy and bland. i love this place!! so friendly, nice atmosphere and staff cant do enough for you. great specials, nice variety on the menu and fast service. i am never disapointed when i come here. i had the fish sandwich and it was perfect, lots of veggies on the side, with fresh made coleslaw and such a pile of sweet potato fries i couldnt even eat it all. hubs had the breakfast skillet special and it was gone in a blink. he was very happy with his meal. we are regulars and will continue to come back. only complaint-I wish they did dinner ;). see you soon chris read more
