Ask for Nugget! You can't go wrong here, all of the servers are great. I love the omelettes and so do by my brothers. I usually order the Bacon & Cheddar Omelette with Home Fries and French Toast. My brother Jonathan ordered the Meat Eaters Omelette with Home Fries and Wheat toast. My Mom loves the Early Riser with her eggs over medium well with home fries and French toast. This is a busy place with a wide variety of food choices. A local establishment where people know each other, very friendly. The salad was big and delicious. The hamburger and French fries also good as well as the breakfast. The food was hot and served quickly. The waitress was very friendly. Something that I didn't like is the salad was served with another plate of food on top of the salad. The bottom of the plate isn't nice to have on your fresh food. read more

We did have a very large party that met here before we all went our separate ways after a wedding weekend. The waitress did get the orders right but the food was very average and my son had a hair in his food. He did not say anything to the server, he just stopped eating. read more

I've eaten here four different times. 3 for breakfast and once for lunch. The food has been big portions and great every time. The service can be a little slow because they are understaffed in my opinion but it's worth the wait. It's in a convenient location (right beside Aldi) so I can do my grocery shopping after I'm full. Just tried the biscuits and gravy. And same as everything else -- absolutely delicious. The sausage was just sliced on top of the gravy but the flavors were terrific. And the gravy was smooth and not too heavy on the stomach. Of course the biscuits were as perfectly cooked as always. read more

I got a suggestion from yelp to try Herby's kitchen so I did this morning. It was quite crowded at 10 am but were seated immediately. The menu has lots to choose from and I decided on the meat eaters omelette with crispy home fries and biscuit. The omelette was huge and stuffed with bacon ham and sausage. The home fries were very crispy like I asked for and were delicious however a little peppery. The biscuit was very flaky and tasted great. They seemed to have a problem bussing tables since several tables were still not bussed by the time we left. If you like big portions give this place a try. read more

Nice spot!! Those who follow me know I love GRITS!!! Yes, they nailed it. The grits were so good there was no need of salt or butter add. I didn't like the waffle as it was not my type of batter but I think others would love it. The service was off the chain on a scale of excellent. My server was amazing. She checked in frequently to see how things were. She even asked if the grits were good!!! Loved it. Didn't have to ask for coffee refill, she asked. I love exceptional customer service. Came here on a lunch date and we both found it charming. I had heard good things about this relatively new place, mainly regarding the breakfast service, but both my husband and I wanted lunch, so we dined off that menu. We have definitely decided that we will be back for breakfast soon. (It only serves breakfast and lunch.) It's located off of E. Edgewood just a couple of doors down from Winn-Dixie and is very clean but frugal (smart) in design - shotgun style from the front to the back with tables on both sides, and a dividing wall on the far right with the register and then the kitchen. Almost diner-like in efficiency. Every person we encountered was incredibly pleasant and helpful. They seemed to have a lot of regulars there, greeting people by name, etc. But the waitress treated us just as kindly as she treated them, so it made us feel at home. You seat yourself, and there were plenty of seats to choose from, luckily, even though they were doing rather brisk service. Our orders were taken promptly. There were a couple of items that looked really good on the menu, but hubby chose the Meatball Hoagie and I the grilled chicken sandwich. His came with French fries, but I opted pay an up-charge and get the fried okra. Both orders arrived promptly and were piping hot. His Meatball Hoagie was a hit and he ate every bit. The fries were crispy and fluffy. My grilled chicken sandwich, while not as photogenic, was very tender and juicy, and I ate every bite. Those fried okra were perfect too. Crunchy outside and cooked to perfection inside. I ate it all. The price was right too. Granted, we could get slightly cheaper at a fast food place, but definitely NOT the quality or the excellent service. I really hate to do this because , this is MY spot, and I know it's gonna get even more crowded. This place is the bomb. Breakfast or lunch, I've never had a bad meal here. Great omelets, and French toast. Huge homemade waffles. After picking up from FCA camp we went looking for something local and relatively quick and child friendly. We were very pleasantly surprised by this gem! We were greeted and seated quickly. The menu is a great size, not too big not too small. There is a variety of items and fit all our needs and wants. I got the meatloaf and two sides- Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. The meatloaf was covered in sauce and that's my favorite part to go with my meatloaf. My sister got the adult grilled cheese- very cheesy, and the boys got spaghetti and meatballs and fries and chicken tenders and fries. Fries were perfectly cooked! For the 4 of us it was $25. Not only was the food so well priced but the price was just great! Try it out. I think you'll love it. We did do lunch, breakfast looked good as well! Let me start by saying I do not live in this area, but have been spending some time in the Lakeland area as of late and have been on the hunt for gems ... like Herby's Kitchen. My initial impression as we were walking toward Herby's Kitchen was that of a simple local diner. What a surprisingly awesome find it turned out to be. I had the Greek Style Hamburger, it's funny but I don't recall what other persons in our party ordered. Was not sure what to expect with my order, but I was thrilled with what I was served. Incredibly tasty, creative, and fresh (saying again fresh, not frozen, not out of a box, fresh). Imagine a melding of a Greek salad and a hamburger. Simply yummy. The service was friendly, neighborly in fact. We were welcomed as if we had been regulars since the day they opened their doors, which I have no idea when that was. The atmosphere was clean, comfortable, and uncrowded while sitting down. I do want to make a special mention about the art on the walls and photography in the restaurant ... they did this themselves, and it is fantastic. Compliments to the family photographer. The bottom line, we will be back and will drive across town to do so. read more

We dined Friday, May 27, 2021. It being lunchtime My wife and I ordered the Greek hamburger which were terrific; we really love the olives and pepperoncini on the burger with the feta and the special mayonnaise. One of the best burgers I've ever had. My granddaughter decided to have a late breakfast; the breakfast menu is available until they close at 2:30. She really liked her scrambled eggs with cheese hash browns and the biscuit she said was the best one she's had. Service was quick and accurate, and staff were very friendly. The restaurant is very clean. Servers are no longer taking pandemic precautions beyond normal sanitation. Herby's continues to impress. It is now a go to lunch and breakfast spot for its good quality food and friendly service. read more

Best home fries I have ever had! Wonderful service and prices. The mushroom spinach Swiss omelette was excellent.

There was a short wait for a table (the seat yourself) arrangement was awkward with no way to form a line; a sign-in process would give diners more confidence that they aren't being skipped. Our order was taken shortly after being seated by the friendly waitress; but then, the long wait for our food began, about 45 minutes!! Once it arrived the food was hot and tasted good. So, if you are in a rush and the restaurant is full, plan on a long stay or skip it and go somewhere else. Seems the only solution to keep a sustainable business here is to speed up the kitchen, IMO. read more

Herby's changed hands in April. I waited 3 months for the new owners (with the old recipes, servers, etc) to break themselves in. I went for lunch being told they maintained their sloppy joe special on Fridays & seeing the post for last Friday. Sadly no sloppy joes, the only reason I went. I think this should be said before drink delivery, as I'd have left & come back another day. I felt obligated to stay, but waited a long time to be seen by the server, who was socializing. I think the diner has many regulars so there is "cyclical serving"-they spend lots of time laughing & chatting with the people they know then rush like crazy serving the others so they can get back to visiting. Server wanted to only take a drink order tho' I wanted to get my order in ahead of the lunch crowd. She won. I waited, thru more deliveries & chit chat. Lunch items averaged $10 or more before drink. Since I was buying a consolation lunch I chose a $6 breakfast BLT with egg overhard. Wasn't asked "kind of bread" or I'd have chosen rye. Food out quickly. It wasn't cut to eat easily nor to look nice on the plate. It was under-toasted, bacon was cold, tomato was thin, it was wayyy overslathered with mayo, needed salt and the overhard egg was dripping with "overeasy" yolk. When finished, no server so I got up to leave, went to register. Waited. Good diners leave the bill with the food arrival, cutting out a "job" and guessing when the meal is finished for the diner. The soda was $3, never offered a refill nor a to go drink. It was an expensive sandwich for the quality. Unfortunately the icing on the cake was I was sick the next couple hours. This usually means the grease is old, the bacon has been out too long, food's not washed properly or something was passed the expired date. This was not a food memory nor experience that will bring me back. The German Food Tuesdays sound splendid. The place draws a good crowd as the only diner style restaurant in the area, so this review may not be your experience. Do give it a try. But I think I'm done. read more

Being new to the area, seeing the 4.5 star reviews, I decided to try this place for brunch. Terrible food, wonderful staff. I had the waffle breakfast, waffle was gummy, bacon was cheap and flavorless, hash browns were cold and under cooked, eggs were cooked perfect. I won't go back b/c their average prices are for below average food grade. Do yourself a favor & skip this one if you have any pride about what you put in your body! read more

We've eaten here many times and always like our meals. But an amazing thing happened that we've never experienced in a restaurant, like ever. The wife ordered her usual: two eggs poached, grits and a biscuit. The server (who was wonderful) came back shortly to tell us that they no longer have poached eggs. That was ok she switched to over easy. Then she came back to say they were out of grits. Strange but still kind of okay, she switched to tomatoes. The server came back a third time, and you guessed it, they were out of biscuits. So in essence everything my wife got was different from what she ordered! The servers were frustrated as would be expected. We overheard one server say to the other, "What kind of place are we running here?" It makes me wonder. Regardless, we will be back. read more

Very nice little place. Service was 5 stars;our server was just the nicest most accommodating person ever! My friend had the Greek salad which is spectacular and she said it was delicious as well. I had a cheeseburger which was excellent, juicy and hot and just loaded with good stuff. Huge amount of hot crisp fries. I was visiting my nephew at Florida Southern for the day and I offered to take him and his roommate to brunch. We went to this place based on the reviews on yelp. This is his fourth year at the University and it was a five minute drive and he had never heard of it. We were all so thankful we decided to to stop in and give it a try. The service was fantastic! The server was very attentive and friendly. She offered many suggestions. We all got breakfast food. We liked the hashbrowns over the home fries/potatoes but both were great. Both young men loved the pancakes and the French toast!! I had an omelette and it was cooked to perfection. Not brown and over cooked. I will definitely return when I'm in the area. Give it a try. Amazing little breakfast and lunch spot. Home cooking at it's finest. Very reasonably priced. Service is friendly and quite good. They are always hopping as business is steady. A few highlights that we've experienced in the last several months (after finding Herby's): breakfast eggs are always cooked perfectly to order, go for the grits absolutely perfect. Lunch: the best hamburger par none. Freshly made, juicy, they prefer to cook to medium. If the banana pudding is on the specials menu go for it. How can something so simple be so good.
