I saw that the brick and mortar location hours lessened but that doesn't stop the dedicated fans. I finally got a chance to try them. It was almost closing time on a Friday evening We were cutting it close to closing so we rushed over. Just a cute little place on the strip mall under the giant flag on 6th. There was not waiting in this cute little place. Its bright with a very kind and friendly young man at the counter. He was super sweet It smells great in here as we strolled up to the counter. I was craving a Spring Roll. I also ordered a small sampler which included 2 egg rolls and 2 Rangoon. My girlfriend and I ordered the last of the fried rice for the day. We got our order to go and took it back home. The spring roll was divine! The crab Rangoon and rolls were also good! The rice, was "end of day rice" . I would 100% go back and get more earlier in the evening. I highly recommend and will be back for more delicious spring rolls and try other thing. My first trip to the Ankeny Farmer's Market involved stopping at The Eggroll Ladies' truck, and I'm glad I did! It was a delicious pork egg roll served hot after being cooked. They give you a pager to indicate when the food is done. I liked the pricing, and the staffer was a nice person who explained the process to this first-timer. I had the opportunity to attend The Eggroll Ladies first "bottomless noods" event tonight. I saw it offered on their Facebook page and it took me all of about 10 seconds to decide to commit and send a message. Bottomless pho and assorted instant ramen as well as endless eggrolls and crab rangoon. The buy in was a reservation ahead of time with them and $30 ea. Hopefully additional events will follow. Keep an eye on their Facebook page! The pho was good, but I'm not going to lie... I'm pretty basic. Chili oil, sprouts, and jalapeño. The protein tonight was meatballs. And honestly I was there more for the eggrolls and crab rangoon. The owner (Trang) and her staff did a great job tonight! Most of us arrived in a 615 pm window and they had to juggle us with customers coming in for dine-in and take-out orders. It had the potential for a rocky start, but Trang and her team navigated it well. We were started with a bowl of pho or ramen (customer's choice) and a basket of eggrolls and crab rangoon. As you finished staff was there to clear your spot and replenish as needed. The eggrolls and crab rangoon... Wow! The crab rangoon walk a line between sweet and savory. Plenty of filling..,not lacking at all. I don't know if I've met a crab rangoon I don't like, but I'm a big fan of Mr Eggroll (the ones at the downtown farmers market). I think these edge them out for my #1 spot. The eggrolls almost reminded me of a larger lumpia. And I mean that in the best way possible. Sometimes you have to fight to find the meat in an eggroll. Not these! They're packed with meat. You might have to look a little to find your vegetables though... Trang also treated us to an assortment of lemonades and a piece of pandan cake. I went with a lychee lemonade. So good! I threw in my towel tonight a little over an hour in when I reached the point I felt my gluttony had tipped into biblical sin... I definitely got my money's worth and then some. The food was great! The staff did a fantastic job! As a side-note. I'm a US Navy veteran and I enjoy supporting service member/veteran owned businesses. Trang, along with being a restaurant owner, currently serves in the US Army National Guard Reserve. Eggroll ladies started as a food truck and just recently turned into a brick and motor. The eggrolls and the marinated pork rice noodle bowl are soooo good. They taste just like my grandpa's eggrolls! I placed a large order and then froze some for later. In order my favorite was the crab rangoon. Full of filling. They were delicious. Second I got the sampler so I could get the pork dumplings. Those are so great, I wish they would offer them outside of the sampler so I could just get a dozen of those. The eggrolls were pretty good, they were full of meat. I think I have become so used to the ones from the stores which are mostly cabbage and carrots these seemed almost too full of meat if that is possible. Highly recommend placing an order. read more

Egg Roll Ladies operates out of Kitchen Spaces near Drake University. Follow them on social media to see when they are there. That space has a lot of different pop-up food choices and all of them have been good so far. I saw them in a foodie group on Facebook and what caught my eye was that they advertised a vegan crab rangoon. Being dairy-free, I thought my crab rangoon days were behind me so I got super excited to try their vegan option. While I was ordering those, I decided to try their pork eggrolls as well. You can get them frozen, fresh or fried for a extra fee and they're sold by the dozen. I got a dozen fresh egg rolls that I fried in my air fryer and a dozen crab rangoons already fried. The eggrolls had instructions for how long to air fry them so I couldn't mess them up. I ordered via Messenger and they were very responsive, answering my questions and giving me their Venmo handle for quicker pick up. The eggrolls had a lot of meat and were very tasty. The crab rangoons have sugar as one of the ingredients, which gave them a sweetness I wasn't used to but I liked. I might get them without sugar next time just to taste the difference. I think the filling was made with cashews so if you have a nut allergy and want the vegan ones, you may want to ask about that. I liked the filling and since I ordered them pre-fried (they didn't recommend the air fryer for those) I was able to tear into them right away when they were hot. They were really good. I would definitely order from the again and if you follow them on social media you'll see where else they sell their food, which I think includes a few local restaurants in Des Moines and Ankeny. read more

GPS took us the long way to Ankeny and boy am I glad. We were driving past this place and just looking to see what shops there were and I saw the name. Asked my wife to tell it real quick and decided we'd try it. I am so glad we did! Hands down.....best crab Rangoon I have ever had. Normally aren't my favorite. We did the sampler of Rangoon, potstickers and egg rolls. All three were so good. I'd love to see them put their egg roll filling and make it into a wonton or have a beef filling. We tried the spring rolls and they too were awesome. Our host graciously offered a sampling of the mochi vanilla ice cream and a little chocolate covered ice cream bar. You would think if a food truck was scheduled from 5-8, but it takes 15 minutes for them to park their trailer and another 30 minutes to heat their oil, they would be at their designated spot by 4:15. They didn't get there till 5:01 and still had to park and get ready. They didn't start taking orders till 6...an hour late. They literally turned down at least 12 customers. No thanks. I'll save my money and take my business to someplace with much better customer service. read more

They have such good food here, and it's a really good price for what you get. I typically get the meal box, and they always get it out really quickly (unless they're waiting on a fresh batch of egg rolls or rangoons, which are worth it)! The staff is very friendly, and the dining area is a nice little addition. There's not a ton of seating, so I like going during less busy times.
