I see caring, and I see great leadership. There are so many reasons to love this gym but at the very top of the list are 3 great coaches who have made a truly lasting impact on my kids. Their names are Coach Jordan who is the branch manager, Coach Joy who is the assistant manager, and Coach Nate. Though Coach Jordan is the manager, he is not above teaching and coaching and he has actually taught both my kids at one point or another. His high energy and positive attitude bring sunshine to the gym. He knows names, he greets kids and parents alike, he encourages students and he has the place running beautifully. I have no doubt that his leadership is what makes this place so great. The gym is clean, the equipment is well maintained, and there's always such great energy. He is always ready to answer questions or help in any way we need and he never acts like it is a burden. He is highly knowledgeable of operations and I've always been able to get my questions answered. My daughter liked gymnastics before, but since having Coach Joy as her teacher, she has grown so much more and she has found a new level of love for exercise. In my daughter's words "Coach Joy makes me stronger" because she encourages her to always grow, always keep trying and strive to master new skills. She's an excellent coach and has set the bar really high for our girl. After searching many other parkour schools, we finally found a great spot for our son with Coach Nate. I am a former preschool teacher and I am still in disbelief at how much patience Coach Nate has for his littles. Even with brand new students that probably don't even have preschool experience, he manages to teach the class and still give the wanderers space to wiggle as they get used to the routine. Instead of focusing on rule following and order, he lets the kids have fun as they learn! My son has grown so much in his agility and endurance. We are excited to see him keep growing in Coach Nate's class. Truly, I could say a million more things about how much we love SD Gymnastics Grossmont. We as a family cannot recommend it more. Don't let the fancy website or requirements intimidate you. Go talk to Coach Jordan or Coach Joy in person and you'll be able to see what a great place this is.

Sharing our experience for other parents of young children…read more My 3-year-old attended her first class, and at the end, every child received a sticker except her. While it may seem small, at this age that kind of exclusion carries meaning, especially on a first day of her very first structured ballet class. I reached out to for clarification, and while I understand standing behind their staff, the owner's response felt more focused on defending the approach than acknowledging my concerns as a parent of a 3-year-old. She also didn't seem to understand that a sticker to a 3 year old signifies belonging/a sense of doing well, and can shape how a child views themselves in a new environment. I understand having structure, but this did not feel developmentally appropriate for such a young age or for my daughters first ever dance experience. A refund was offered, which I appreciate, but overall this was not the right fit for our family. I would strongly encourage other parents to clearly understand expectations and teaching approach beforehand. During our trial class, my daughter participated less and was still encouraged with a sticker, so the inconsistency here is both confusing and concerning. For a program working with very young children, that level of inconsistency and lack of professionalism in both practice and communication is disappointing.

My child was not given the reward everyone else was given (a sticker) for not fully participating in the beginning of class. She is 3 and this was her first class and the teacher acknowledged that my child listened most of the time. The sticker is not the problem, but when brought up to the director that this odd-man out behavior is not appropriate at this age, she was not empathetic and doubled-down that these are the expectations of this studio. This is not the black swan studio, it's an after school program for 3-year olds. I have pulled my child.

I remember spending a lot of time at the snack bar. Go figure. Anyways, banquet hall we were housed in for the event was spacious and well kept. The tables were in good order and the chairs comfortable enough. The building offered a stage, clean restrooms, an area for the caterer to set up, and a good sounds system. The staff at the front as you walk into the building were welcoming and friendly. There are several parking lots and one adjacent to the banquet hall we were in. The land escaping immediately around the building we were in was very nice, but I did notice that the gold course needed some TLC. The grass was very uneven and not well kept up.

They were group lessons, but I thought it would be OK for a beginner. We'll, I was wrong. The instructors were kind, but that's the best I can say about them. Kids spent 95% of the time waiting in line. Once it was their turn, they would only have a couple of opportunities to practice. And then in case they sucked, no feedback was provided to them. Nor did the instructors corrected them and showed how to improve their performance. I guess you get what you pay for, and it was very optimistic of me to expect good services for such a low price, but not to that extent! Also, my kid was verbally abused by a couple of other kids and it was completely ignored by either their parents or instructors.
