I met Gina one random Saturday morning when I decided to finally stop in to the cute shop after gazing at it in my other travels. I was immediately greeted by the lady arranging a door wreath; come to find out it was Gina, the owner. I did my walk-through and decided to put an arrangement together b/c everything looked so lovely, and I was up for a challenge. Gina chatted me up while I perused and offered to help. She didn't bark up my tree trying to sell me stuff, which I liked. We chatted and she offered me help in putting together my arrangement for my sister. I took a stab at it and decided it wasn't darling enough. In steps Gina with her magic, and she wowed me with her arranging skills. It was a little of this and a little of that and voila! I stick with the small group, and Gina is at the top of my list. She is a lovely personality, and I get why she wears her smile on her sleeve. She is an absolute delight to work with. Would be 5 stars if the person who took the order by phone the day before the flowers were to delivered was more clear about pricing and actually wrote down the specifics of the order! They agreed to text me a photo of the order before delivery. The next morning my request was met.. but the photo showed not what I ordered. Using only high quality flowers (not a single carnation in the entire shop -- cheap filler) that are at the peak of freshness, The Enchanted Florist does BEAUTIFUL arrangements. When I lived in Alexandria this is where my dad (never a boyfriend!) would send me arrangements from. Usually because I was crying over some ex-boyfriend! They primarily do what is called Pave arrangements, which is a French technique of arranging flowers really compact so they appear carpeted. They only use contemporary type glassware - not those typical light bulb shaped thin glass vases that you see with TOO many other florists. Seriously, be prepared to be WOWED!!! The Enchanted Florist's shop is GORGEOUS. I wish I worked there smelling those beautiful flowers all day long. After reading the other reviews, it's fair to say that I had high expectations for The Enchanted Florist. Last year, another florist did not deliver flowers for my wife on Valentine's Day. I needed to redeem myself, so I picked the highest-rated florist in the Alexandria area. Delivering flowers to businesses is a big deal because my wife (and I'm sure others) enjoy showing off the arrangements to co-workers. My flowers arrived after the reception area had closed for the day because of some mishap the florist had encountered with a courier. That does not fly in my book but is forgivable if the quality is good. And let me tell you that after reading the reviews, I was expecting a beautiful arrangement. I can't tell you how underwhelmed I was. I realize that they don't use a lot of "filler" flowers, but the idea is to fill it with good flowers instead, not just to omit the cheap stuff! For my money, I could have easily had three dozen roses from another florist, but instead I got a pathetic, 6-inch tall arrangement that looks like I could have bought it at a grocery store (and trust me, it wasn't cheap - at least by graduate student standards). When I begrudgingly told my wife what I paid for the flowers, her jaw dropped. That's not a good sign. Yes, the flowers were obviously fresh and no, there weren't many fillers (hence the two stars instead of one), but it was just the least impressive Valentine's Day bouquet I have ever seen, hands down. I'm glad my wife likes me because after the past two Valentine's Day fiascos I would expect otherwise. It sounds like this florist is great if you're planning a wedding and spending massive amounts of money (something with which I am expressly familiar) but not so hot if you're in the $100-$200 range. read more

First of all let me state that I used the Enchanted Florist for a work function for which I literally had no budget - as in, I had unlimited amounts of money to use for whatever I wanted (nice, huh?) Having said that they were really awesome even before they knew I had gobs of money. Melissa was really nice and was able to work with me to get exactly what I wanted within a number of price ranges. She was super responsive and extremely friendly (more so than other OT florists *cough* HelenOlivia *cough*) Most importantly though, the flowers were STUNNING! They also took care of all the set up and clean up - which was good because I didn't have the extra brain power to deal with it. 4.5 stars. I would give 5, but realistically I can see them being a bit on the pricey side if you actually have a budget (though you get what you pay for!) My all-time favorite flower shop to date. Madeline has been very flexible (and understanding) with funeral arrangements, wedding bouquets, congratulatory flowers and other special requests. Even when forced to deal with more than one person or opinion she is very professional and adheres to all of my family's last minute requests. She's able to create a (somehow) better version of the pictures suggestions I've offered but also willing to take free reign when just told colors and price (or to leave out red roses which my mother hates). Sometimes I do have a strict budget or a last minute occasion and that is never a problem for the enchanted florist. I use them for everyday stuff and bigger events, but I heard that they do some great wedding work as well. As other reviewers point out, their style is compact and you see what you get. They don't use fillers to add space to their arrangements and everything they use is high quality stuff. I work in the industry, see who grows their stuff, and they are using good stuff. The containers they use there are so distinct so you know you have ordered from Enchanted. During the summer and Spring time they have a guy on a bike who does deliveries down in Old Town. Recently, the owner and her staff were able to create a very special living arrangement for the memorial service for someone who loved nature. Moss, ferns, and flowers were planted in a rustic container to create an Appalachian trail appearance.
