Hello, my 2012 Ford XLT F150 Supercab 4x4 3.5l V6 Twin Turbos was dead and was in need of a new engine rebuild. I had bought the truck with the rods spun, simply with such a clean 4x4 body and clean interior. On Saturday 03/09/2024 my truck was hauled and dropped off at The Engine Builders shop in Glendale. My assessment of Greg was spot on from our few phone conversations, I liked that he was knowledgeable on my motor having built a few. Monday morning I started receiving pictures of my motor being removed from my truck. Tuesday we conversed by texts and pictures and decided on a new block and crank. After talking with Kody on Wednesday on some parts required for my engine outside of their build agreement and scope. I delivered two Turbos for the motor and two sensors for my exhaust. Last night Kody called to let me know that my truck would be ready around noon, their mechanic Julio R. went over my break-in requirements he is very polite and knowledgeable. I am 69 yrs young, so driving it slowly during my engine break-in will be fun! It was amazing that it was completed in Seven and a Half days for their R&R build time. I am really looking forward in the future working with Greg, Kody , Julio and their crew, especially, since I am doing a three Year Warranty! I know that when I called they answered, when I went to the shop, all their employees were friendly and helpful. Need a Ford motor, this is the place to have it built. My drive home was literally my first time driving it in the year I owned it. Wanted a nice older 4x4, so yes I am a 101% satisfied with THE ENGINE BUILDERS! I Believe So will You! Stay Safe! Phone Number for the business isnt working, so don't bother calling. In fact, don't bother going in person either unless you have an affinity for cat piss. The place is pitiful, but the service is somehow even worse. After a full engine replacement, we have had nothing but breakdown after breakdown. Steer clear of this place! I'm filing a class action lawsuit if anyone is interested in joining me! I just went through the worst experience imaginable. I got my 2019 Yukon with a 6.2 engine brought in for a rebuild. We agreed on a price, and I made a large down payment, with the remainder due upon completion. A month later, the owner's secretary called, claiming the engine was nearly finished and asked if we could pay the remaining balance because they were out of funds and couldn't cover payroll. Feeling sympathetic, we foolishly went ahead and paid it because we were informed of the owner's serious health issues requiring him to visit the doctor twice a week. The truck was delivered two weeks later, but within literally five minutes of it being dropped off, engine codes started showing up--no oil pressure and fuel imbalance, causing it to enter fail-safe mode. We tried reaching out to inform him of the problem, but he didn't respond until he was too far away to return. Three days later, he came to pick up the vehicle, promising to fix it. Fast forward a month and a half, and when asking for an update, all I received were excuses: "Often, there would be 4 to 5 days of silence with no replies to calls or texts. I finally reached my breaking point after he assured me he would bring in an outside technician to diagnose the issue but couldn't get in touch with him for two weeks. I told him I was coming to retrieve the vehicle and take it to another shop, which made him angry. I arranged for a tow truck to pick it up when he said it would be out on the street. When the tow truck arrived at 1 PM, no one was there. Eventually, someone showed up but couldn't locate the keys! The driver had to make three trips before finally getting them, costing me an additional $70. read more

I lost out on 4,000 dollars and he never completed the work it was a whole year and a half so I took the car out and had another place finish it. once it was completed the engine was no good. Not only does this place have bad reviews from customers but it has bad reviews for employed employees. My dad is new there 2 weeks in and has worked a full check and the company refused to pay him, he is struggling and needing paid and they have failed him they paid him $100 for a weeks worth of work, I will be turning them into the BBB and calling them to let them know no wonder they told my dad they had so many cars on lot because they had no employees, maybe if you would pay your employees properly you would have employees. read more

my experience with this business was the most stressfull in my 74 year life. it all started with a two week answer for how long the engine replacement would take. i agreed and told greg i had to have it back by oct. 1st which was 4 weeks, because i had an event that week and absolutley had to have it, he said no problem and even put that info on my paperwork. greg then strung me along for over 9 weeks, until i finally said just roll my truck into the alley and put the old engine in the bed i will have it picked up and just rack it up to a horrible experience and loss of my down payment. nope, greg talked me into 4-5 more days you can pick it up on tuesday, nope, tuesday came and went no truck and now i'm really stressing that i may never get my truck back before this so called business gets completely shut down from other customers going through the same experience. one more time, he said your truck will be ready at 11;am on thursday nov. 13th which is now 10 full weeks that its been there, remember the two weeks he said on september 1st. i got there at exactly 11;am on thursday and walked up to the door where there was a full grown german shepard dog. holly crap is this dog friendly??? i dont see my truck, my heart is now pounding thinking this is just another broken promess. turned out the dog was friendly and jumped up on me several times, that's when the jesse lady came out and said can i help you? yes i'm here to pick up my truck, she looked at me funny and said no we only do deliveries on friday. i said no no greg just told me yesterday i could pick it up today at 11;am. she said i dont think so and went back inside. now i'm so upset i can hardley talk. i sat in my car just wondering what to do next. i called greg no answer, then jesse called and said they are test driving your truck right now, and then my truck rolled down the street and into the engine builders yard. i went inside with jesse to pay my ballance owed, but first i really read over the receipt paper work, which did not say paid in full, did not say they had installed a rebuilt 6.0 engine. when i asked her to include those very important items, she grabbed the paper work and in the worst bitch voice you can imagine said you are the worst pain in the ass customer weve ever had. i kept my cool she changed the paperwork i paid the money and just wanted to drive away from this nightmare business in my gmc truck. greg had pulled in right behind my truck, so of course now i cant leave. he was trying to tell me stuff about the 24 month 24,000 mile warranty, i said please please move your truck so i can leave. warranty, what an f-ing joke, if the engine had seized two feet down the street i wouldnt take the truck back there for any reason. but, i have to say, despite the a/c not working anymore and the check engine light came on in about 10 miles and the heater lines were looped and not hooked up, the engine really does run good and smooth and has way more power than the old engine, consistant 45psi oil pressure and 208 degree temp which is exactly what every ls engine ive ever driven had. the truck will now go to a real business to have the problems i mentioned addressed r u n r u n dont walk stay away from this failing business read more

DO NOT make the same mistake that we made in choosing the Engine Builders. I made a terrible decision to pay for my vehicle prior to receiving it. Greg did everything he could to prove to me that he could be trusted as he asked for early payment so he could pay his employees. We agreed but required him to sign a contract that in a few days he would return our Yukon back in working order with no warnings. He returned our vehicle and I drove it a few feet and a warning popped up. For almost two months since then, Greg gave us a runaround and eventually left our vehicle outside of his business so we had to get it towed and paid a dealership to look over our vehicle. Turns out all of the current issue came from The Engine Builders smashing the wires from the computer. Very unprofessional job and they smashed our transmission pan. For a guy who continually toted himself as a good person, he definitely took advantage of our family of six. read more

My wife and I had our engine rebuilt in our 1974 Corvette they said it would take 4 weeks and it took 4 months when I picked it up it was filthy and didn't run very well the technician told me he detuned for the break-in. And when I brought it back for the 500 mile oil change he would tune it back up properly well that didn't happen we also brought to their attention and exhaust leak they did nothing about that either in fact I was treated extremely rude so now a year later the engine has failed because they put an improper fuel pump push rod that was not compatible with the Comp Cam they put in so it destroyed that lobe and metal went throughout the engine the reason it took a bit of time to fails cuz this is a weekend warrior we go to car shows it's not driven all the time so the engine has to be completely rebuilt the metal went throughout the engine destroyed push rods lifters Pistons scored up the bearings on the cam the crank when they were trying to remove the engine all the bolts on the exhaust manifolds were cross threaded so that needed to be fixed the Flat Top Speed Pro Pistons that were supposed to produce about 9.2 to 1 compression or not put in instead they were cheap Pistons at best creating 8.2 to 1 compression and the timing chain was also very inexpensive and had at least 2 in slop in it and the list goes on as you can imagine so I highly recommend you do not use these people to rebuild your engine I'd find someone else or get a crate engine and save yourself a lot of headache a lot of time and a lot of money read more

Took my car in for an engine replacement in August got my car back but there was still something wrong it was stuck in limp mode they said they would take it back and fix it for free!!!! Omg great news right only except it's been 4 months now I've went up there and checked on my car twice because I live an hour away and I don't have anyone that can take my there often and it's just dusty sitting there they said they "tried everything" but they told me they only work one about one or 2 cars a day with about 50 cars in the lot last time I went and my car is still in the same limp mode condition it is they said it's electrical and have told me they've had "dealership electrical" people "come in" but yet they barely can even tell me they've exact reason nor is it even fixed and then I recently just went on Monday they pretty much told me they are going to try again and call me this week to let me know if they could do anything and I've called and called and nothing all week is there anything legally I can do my car never had "electrical" problems and now all the sudden it does read more

Update on my vehicle. Finally got the oil leaked fixed after 3 tows down there (which they wouldn't pay for and it's a 2 hr drive) mind you everytime my car was at Engine builders it was there for more then a month. One of the last times I took it back for warranty issues was for the timing chain. They said it was electrical issues causing that so I made an appointment to the dealership. They looked at it and said I needed a new engine. They took apart the oil pan and saw metal shavings and also noticed gas was getting mixed with the oil, and the timing chains were off. So the only way to fix it was replacing the engine, 12k. Soon as I heard that I called engine builders and told them about it I had it towed over there. It's been there since, this was April l, haven't gotten it back or haven't gotten an update on it. Every time I call they tell me " they're working on it" I tell Greg (the owner) to give me my money back (5k for the rebuilt on the engine) so I can go to a professional shop and get the engine replaced. This shop is unprofessional. Regret taking my vehicle here! My only solution was buying another vehicle because who knows when I'm getting that car back. Problem after problem. While looking at Craigslist (Phoenix) for a used engine, we found a post for The Engine Builders, called and decided to use them to rebuild the engine in our 2017 Jeep Wrangler. We're from New Mexico, so we had to trailer the Jeep to Glendale, we dropped it off on Friday, January 5th, 2023 and picked it up on Saturday, January 13th. The final cost was exactly what they quoted, plus an additional $150 to sleeve a cylinder. My husband and I drove it back to NM and the Jeep ran like there was never anything wrong with it. The Engine Builders Guys (Cody & Fredy) did an excellent rebuild, maintained contact, and were very professional during this stressful time. These guys went above and beyond and we thank you guys for the excellent customer service you provided. Had the engine on my Jeep JK rebuilt here about 1000 miles ago, no issues with it. Engine runs and sounds like new, they even replaced my cracked exhaust manifolds, at parts cost since there was no additional labor. They paid 1/2 the towing cost from tucson and Jeep was running and ready for pickup in 10 days. Good rebuild at a great price! read more

We were given a completion date and since that date our time for completion has been extended by almost 2 weeks. We were renting a car to get around while our was being worked on and now have to extend our reservation until this business can get their ducks in a row and get our car finished. The extra expenses are making the total more expensive than going to a more reputable shop that would have had our car finished in the timeframe promised. Now I understand things happen but not once did they call us to ever say they needed more time. We have had to call for updates and they have very bad phone etiquette. WOW... my F150 had 360K miles on the 4.6 and the last 35 have been since The Engine Builders rebuilt it. Not a race engine or fancy but keeps on keeping on. Great experience in the process, Kym absolutely fantastic... completed Aug of 2019 and not one complaint. Maintained the oil change schedule meticulously and the motor just is fabulous. Not one person was indifferent or unhelpful, all splendid to work with, even the BIG dog! Frankly I don't think you can go wrong chosing this company to rebuild to stock form your motor. read more

Very honest and professional company. I did have to pay an additional $30. But that's to be expected when your hoses are bad. Not to mention they installed all of the parts I desired to have installed in this process at no additional charge! Here we go to the honest part, they accidentally damaged my radiator when rebuilding. I wasn't charged a thing. Another thing one of my plastic connectors from my heater core to my water pump broke a week after it was returned to me. Again it was not there fault. This stuff happens. Regardless I called Greg and he sent out Ruben to fix me up. And let me tell you all about Ruben. He was an awesome guy. It was a privilege to have him come to where I broke down. Pick me up and drive me around to find a fitting so close to the time he needed to be off of work for important prior obligations. Yet here he was helping me out. They mean it when they say they are about their clients. Thank you again for all of the hard work to the staff and mechanics who sweated/worked their asses off to rebuild my engine. read more

We purchased a car from the owner of The Engine Builders in a private party sale in December 2018. He said the engine had just been rebuilt and gave us a warranty through The Engine Builders and offered free towing. A few months later (April 2019) the check engine light came on. We took it to a local shop who said there was an issue with the oil pressure. So we called The Engine Builders to request warranty work. They honored the tow, but unfortunately due to an illness with their driver they couldn't pick it up the day scheduled. Almost two weeks later they finally towed it. We called weekly for updates. We were given the runaround each time. Finally after 6 weeks they said that it was a lifter and it would be done in four days. So come four days later (a Friday) we called and were told it wasn't done yet. We finally decided to drive the 45 miles to the shop to see what was going on the following Monday. The owner flat out lied to us. The car had not been touched and they didn't know what was wrong with it. He tried to give us a b.s. answer so we'd leave, but we stayed until we were able to talk to a mechanic who said he would work on it the next day and call us. The next day we called the shop and were told the mechanic had gotten sick and didn't go to work. The next day when we called we were told it was a lifter and that he was working on it. We were finally able to get the car on Saturday (June 2019). The owner then tried to charge us for the tow, but his secretary said after two months she didn't think it was reasonable so didn't actually ask us to pay it. That was three months ago. Today (September) the car started blowing white smoke out the exhaust, presumably a blown head gasket or cracked head. We will not take it back to The Engine Builders for warranty because we do not trust them one bit to fix it properly or timely. I strongly recommend you stay away from them, especially the owner who is a confirmed liar. read more
