Was so happy to find this place!! I went in to order some engraved shotglasses for a bachelorette and was happy to discover they had a great price and turnaround time for beautiful, full sized shot glasses. Unprepared with exactly what to engrave, the staff was incredibly patient and even helped me brainstorm ideas. Best of all, I was able to provide the font from the invitations so it matched, perfectly!! Turnaround time on my order was 4 days (because I had ample time to get it done), but they could have done it in 1-2 days. As a side note, they don't check email on a regular basis, so I highly recommend calling for followup, changes to your order, etc. Cost: The base cost for the shotglass was $12.99 which included some engraving. There was also a flat $1.75 fee for using a credit card to pay. read more

We used The Engraving Store for wedding party gifts for our groom & groomsmen last month. The engraving work we had done was lettering on Hydroflask pint glasses. The engraving itself is great. (See photos.) I brought the pint glasses in the week of our wedding, and they were able to complete the glasses within 24 hours, which was super helpful! I also wanted to add a tiny linear design to one of the glasses, and the lady in the shop was very helpful in picking out a style that would work with the overall design. The only reason why the shop is getting 4/5 stars is because of multiple customer service issues we had--I had emailed over a mock up of what I was looking for, but never received a response. I had to call the shop to figure out if they could even do what I was looking for. When I brought everything in, I was told that I could pay with card (For a small fee) upon pick up. I ended up having a ton of wedding follow up to do the day I was going to pick up, so just had my mom pick the items up. When I called to make sure it was ok for my mom to pick up and if I could pay with card over the phone, I was told that I couldn't pay card, when I was initially told I could. The lady was also very short with my mom when she picked up--Saying they don't keep orders filed under name (Which they do--It's on my receipt) and that I "probably didn't even tell her [my mom] that she had to pay cash." (When I did, and my mom was prepared with cash.) It was just very frustrating dealing with such shortness during a very stressful time, and when we paid nearly $200 for the engraving of 4 pint glasses. In the end, the work done on the glasses was great, and the turn around was very quick. I will sing this place praises up and down. I could not have imagined my engraving coming out any better. It's my dad's birthday and we wanted to get him something really special. He was recently named the President of a pretty impressive organization (sorry to keep you in suspense, but I want to keep his privacy) so we decided to get him gifts that were presidential themed. To hang behind his desk, we decided to recreate the Presidential Seal, but change it to reflect his status as President of a different organization. We also wanted to change the usual image of an eagle in the middle of the seal to be replaced with the logo for the association. I brought in this really rough drawing of what I wanted it to look like. Initially, the staff looked at me like I was crazy and immediately let me know it might run more expensive because it would require them to do some free drawing of the design. When they said "expensive," I figured I was going to keel over, but the amount I was estimated was right in the ballpark that I considered reasonable. They also engraved the design on a light-weight material that is making shipping very easy (and cheap!). My order took a couple of extra days b/c their drawing artist was on vacation, but man was it worth the wait. The seal came out fantastic and I can't wait to see it hanging in my dad's office. The staff is also incredibly nice and accomodating. When I first came in, the employee behind the counter was really excited to show me a project they were working on. It was the seal of the FBI being engraved into a special rock from Iraq, I believe. Pretty cool stuff! And you can tell they're proud of their work if they're sharing the projects with other customers. These guys have my business for life! read more

We went to the engraving store after purchasing some high end flasks for as gifts and wanted to get them engraved. They did amazing work and offered to have the items completed within a week (they offered a 3 day turn around but we weren't in any hurry). I felt that their staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attempted to be helpful in our decision making process. I did think the prices were higher than what I expected, it was a 20$ set up fee for each item and then 50 cents per letter but to be honest, we didn't shop around so its hard to know what is reasonable for the work we needed done. I would rather pay more and know that the work will get done well then take a risk and pay slightly less! They did a great job and if I need other things engraved I would absolutely return! read more

I needed to make a copy of my apartment key, but Walmart self-service and Home Depot couldn't do it for me. Home Depot steered me to the engraving store "next to Marshall's that closes at 7." Shoot, crunch time I had 15 minutes left. When I got there I was surprised to see it was actually called "The Engraving Store" haha! Anyways the owner looked like he was about to close when I saw him. He asked if I needed anything and I told him I needed a key duplicated so he told me he closed at 6 but he would do it anyway. SCORE! He walks back into the store and returns about 30-45 seconds later and I'm thinking, "Nooo he can't duplicate it either," but lo and behold he shows me a duplicate and tells me it's on the house. LOVE! I will never go anywhere else to duplicate my keys!!! read more

I have used this business several times in many years and have always been happy with what they have done. However recently when walking in and they were wearing an NRA shirt and have a flyer taped to their counter about women in the NRA which told me I no longer want to use their business I didn't feel safe saying anything when I was here as I did not assume we would have a reasonable conversation about it. I would just say it was a huge turn off to supporting the business. Really too bad as I have loved their work but will now go elsewhere. I broke my name tag however didn't notice until I was packing for my trip (the night before of course) and was in a panic that I wouldn't have one when I showed up to work at a new location. This place is my Unit's default "get the plaque engraved for the Marine leaving the unit/retiring/getting promoted" store. 90% of the time they do a bang up job (I'll tell you the story in a minute). They have a lot of experience working with the uniformed services and it seems to me at least like the Navy, Marine Corps, and all the different fire houses give these guys a lot of business. They are really accomodating, turnaround is quick, price seems fair, and they can pretty much etch or engrave anything onto anything. The keepsakes and stuff that they have on-hand seem pretty generic, so it's recommended that you buy the gift elsewhere and bring it here to get it "personalized". My last experience with this place was a total heartbreaker! It's kind of a shame that it prompted this review. Anyways, we bought a keepsake chest, like this little mini-footlocker, down at the Recruit Depot (a $100 wooden chest). Took the lid here to have it engraved with my Unit's emblem, and then a short message. Like i mentioned, the price was right, turnaround was quick, but when I came to pick the lid up, yep, it was totally jacked up. There were 3 spelling errors, and it wasn't like, names mis-spelled it was like "United SATES Marine Corps" and "Thanks for your YAERS of service" You know, like fat-finger, total rookie-bonehead mistakes for a place that has otherwise done an awsome job. They were, of course, professionally embarrased, and they worked with me to correct the mistake. (they ended up etching everything onto a piece of aluminum and then pinning it over the wood to cover up the mistake, and then gave me a huge discount.) So, in my mind, we're square, but damn, it was a near disaster. I get it, shit happens. Guess I'll leave it at that. read more

My experience is based solely on a phone call that I made to the store for an estimate. I couldn't tell you what his name was because he simply answers with "engraving". After I explained to him what I was looking for, he seemed very annoyed by it and simply said he doesn't do that. This was enough for me to never come here, costumer service is a must whether you provide a service or not. read more

I don't know of any other engraving places in San Diego so I don't have any point of comparison but this place does a fine enough job for me. I got a flask engraved here and it took about a day and cost me ~30 bucks. $15 base cost + the cost of the letters/script I chose. I managed to get 3 large letters on the front and a short message on the back. Seems pretty reasonable to me. I can't imagine someplace at the mall or Things Remembered would be any cheaper. So if you're looking for a reliable place to get engravings done, here's one to check out. read more

They do great engraving work. Most items are turned around in 24 hours. The price may be a bit higher than other places, but I've never been turned away with the excuse that they are busy or don't have the time for my project. Thats worth the extra money. Very disappointed. I brought a business card holder in to get engraved with specific instructions. No upfront quote was provided. When I went to pick up the item, it was not done, then when it was finally done, it wasn't done per the instructions. Lastly, I was informed that I owed 127 dollars. Poorly run business. read more

I have gone to this store several times to have things engraved. I highly recommend it! It is a small family business and the people there are kind, reliable and do an excellent job. This time I made an error asking them to engrave the # "27 " years instead of 28 years. The owner added a plus sign for me after the # 27 to fix my error and it worked really well.
