We had a great time! My cousins and I tried the Lair of Lunacy and "escaped." We were there with strangers and it was still fun! I highly recommend if you are looking for something different and want a good time. I'm over the "dinner and a movie" nights, going to the Escape Key and then Gourmandise for dessert after made a perfect night. I would return soon but at $18 a pop I will wait a little. read more

These guys are awesome. They have good puzzles and nice rooms. They did move locations and it was a bit harder to find... its in Broadway Plaza and it has this huge sign that says optometrist. But their prices are great! read more

Magnificent. We did the CSI escape room and it was awesome. Was one clue away from disarming the bomb lol. Will definitely go again.

I did two of their three rooms, CSI (a 6-person room) and Lair of Lunacy (a 10-person room). The CSI room was very well done--a good mixture of searching the room for objects and puzzles to solve. You will almost certainly need 5 or 6 people to solve this in an hour. The Lair, on the other hand, was poorly done. It is difficult to explain why without giving spoilers, but essentially only three people can solve at a time while the other seven stand around giving suggestions or trying to become one of the three that actually get to have some fun. Also, there are virtually no puzzles in Lair--it is essentially find something, then find something else, ad infinitum. Everything is linear. I would recommend doing this room (if you decide to do it) with many fewer than the 10 people recommended. I think 3 would be able to solve it, and everyone would have fun. Every added person is one more person standing around wishing s/he could play. I have friends who tell me that the Impossible Room is well-done as well, but I didn't do it so cannot speak from experience. read more

What a great concept! Really great time, though I only went with one other person so we didn't solve the mystery in time. I would definitely recommend going with more than 4 people or so. Also, it is fairly difficult to find the actual location of the building, so be prepared to drive around for a couple of minutes looking for the entrance. Only $15 a person, great value for the amount of time they put in to make this a memorable experience. Will be going again (with more people, hopefully) should we be in SLC again! read more

This activity exceeded expectations in every way. We did The Impossible for my birthday and it was very fun. We managed to escape with just 45 seconds left, even the employees were on the edge of their seats. This escape room is such a great deal at this price. The one worker said no other employee was coming in that night which meant he couldn't help anyone. He also said they were closing at 10. This place sucked! Terrible service! The escape key is remarkably well done. We had a group of 14 people and were easily accommodates beyond regular business hours for no more than the regular price (which is a great deal). The rooms were well organized and had wonderfully clever clues and puzzles. There was a good mixture of suspense and good old fashioned puzzle solving. Unlike other escape rooms we have been to, workers at this room did not abandon you with bad acting and prerecorded messages, but gave subtle hints and watched in real time. I would highly recommend this activity to any group of people-- great job! read more

We've done several escape rooms across utah and escape key is pretty ok. They are cheaper than the other escape room places, but the cheaper price really comes across in their rooms. The themes aren't as exciting, and the puzzles aren't as creative as other places. Our last experience was underwhelming. We finished their hardest room easily as the MC person gave us WAY too many clues on the tv. We hardly had any time to actually figure out a clue before we were reading the answer on the screen. Also, it was hard to find the venue in the first place. I'd spend an extra $5 and go somewhere else, like Alcatraz Escape Games in Draper. read more

We did the CSI:SLC room and weren't super impressed. The video they play at the beginning didn't work, so we were just kind of putzing around for about 10 of the 60 minutes, unsure of what exactly we were supposed to do. A girl eventually dropped off an envelope that explained our objective, but we were well into the game at that point. Between that and the fact that the staff were giving us hints to clues we'd already solved, we didn't make it out on time. There were some fun things but I guess we just feel like if we're paying almost $200, the explanatory video should at least work. Not sure we'll go back. read more

Great activity to choose on a rainy day! Hard puzzle to solve but made it within 6 minutes. Have at least 3 friends with you to divide and conquer. $20 per person and lasts an hour. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. read more

I have interacted with this place twice now. Both times SUCKED! I gave this place 2 stars in that the rooms were decent, but have visited other places that were hands down better. The staff varied with both visits. One guy was helpful, the other wouldn't lift a finger to save his life. In my experience, when one has a good experience they tell their friends and family about it. This is not that place! read more

Five of us visited The Escape Key Russian Roulette Room, but had an unfortunate snafu. When our time was up and the two employees entered the room, we found out that TWO vital clues hadn't been returned to their hiding places when the room was reset after the last session. There was No Way that we could solve the mystery without them. They were apologetic, but didn't offer us a partial refund or a discount on our next visit. My grandson e-mailed them later, but has never received a response. We loved our experience, which was fun and challenging, but since this is a new business, they need to be more concerned about carefully checking that the room is set up properly. Negative reviews won't do them any good. read more

What fabulous, brainteasing fun! We had my 11 year old son's birthday party here and the staff at The Escape Key was able to modify the clues to meet the ages of our group. The kids loved every minute and were challenged to the very end. Super good fun! read more

Overall it was fun! We were really excited to go, there were a few hiccups as it was opening night for the room we did so there were still some kinks to work out and it was really busy, so it wasn't the perfect experience. The customer service was good, so in the end we would recommend it to others looking for a fun unique experience. read more
