I was wearing a lace crop top and mini skirt and this (in photos) rude, angry security guy told me I needed to get patted down by a girl who worked there. I felt uncomfortable with him and 50 other guys in line watching so I simply asked the girl if it was necessary since there's no place to hide a weapon. He started yelling belligerently and said I couldn't come in for questioning him. I told the girl to go ahead and she quickly patted me down while he was still yelling at me and told me to leave, but she told me to ignore him and go on in which I did. New nightclub and two words: Huge basement. Yep, I came here with a group of girls cause we were out for a bachelorette party. Woo-hoo! Yeah I was the organizer for the night. We arrived and had to download an app for free entry. Sorry I forgot the name of the app, I removed it right away once I used it. Sucks for those who doesn't have a phone and have to pay $5. Also they have to wait on a different line. We walked downstairs to the basement level and you could hear the loud music blasting. To your left is The Exchange Nightclub and the right is Alibi Lounge. If you youngsters like to dance your butt off, turn left and if you mid 30s like to enjoy great cocktails and sit on nice booths, turn right. This crowd has a great mixture of people from all races and ages. Most girls and guys are dressed up. But it is a great place for dancing. The big dance floor is in the middle and it plays awesome music. Their drinks are inexpensive according to one of the girls from the bachelorette party. I didn't pay much attention to the drinks I was focusing on the bride, making sure she had a great time. The only thing I hope they had was a big sign for the bathroom because the place is big already and anyone could get lost. Almost five stars but they recently started charging covers for the Exchange. My friends and I have been going out the Exchange for the last two years and there has been a cover until now. It's $10 but if you have their app, Bueno, and show them your express entry code then you can get in for $5 I believe there is also new management who put cover charges into place but they got real good music playing there now. There was a good mix of hip pop/throwbacks/pop/edm. The dj knew how to mix up the genres well and switch up the music when it wasn't working out. FYI. The restrooms are behind the main bar that's a lit hallway that looks like it leads two closeted booths but there are restroom back there. It's pretty clean. Also, there's a second bar to the far left of the Exchange that generally isn't as congested as the main bar if don't mind walking through the crowd to to other side. read more

Had a great time at the Exchange & Alibi Lounge during the trip to Minneapolis. The entire venue was closed to the public for our private party/corporate event, & it was a blast! The Exchange was a typical "clubby-type" atmosphere, with great music, a nice bar, & dance floor. Although the dance floor was a little small, it was still pretty cool, & served its purpose. The Alibi, on-the-other-hand, was more "grown-&-sexy". It had a dark, mysterious & sexy laid-back atmosphere with nice comfy booths, couches, with a few interesting tucked away rooms & corners to explore. Overall, The Exchange & Alibi Lounge was a fun night out, & the complimentary buffet & all-night free open bar made the event even more memorable! ;) read more

This place is awesome! The decor really makes you feel relaxed and like you are at a 1950's mofia secret party! The furniture is comfortable and stylish, the lights are dim making everyone seem like they have a secret, and the staff dress like they are from the zoot suit era. The drinks here also follow the same theme which adds to the feeling of the place. If you are looking for a swanky place where you can not feel weird about dressing up for a night out and you can hear your friend talk in front of you, this is a great place to try out. read more

My coworkers and I checked out the new Alibi Lounge today and were thoroughly impressed with everything from the cave-like seating cubbies to the smooth, loungy atmosphere and great happy hour prices for higher end food to the friendly and warm bar staff! We tried the dollar oysters (delish!) lobster guac, tuna poke (giant portion!) and the Korean BBQ Lettuce Cups. All were hits with the table and we'll definitely be back for more. Hands down our favorite part of the experience was our outstandingly hospitable bartender, Kirk. For a downtown club, The Exchange is pretty dece'. I've been here a few times and the bouncers aren't jerks, the bartenders are friendly and efficient, and everything seems pretty clean for a basement lounge! And by basement lounge I mean it's really freaking fancy with rich decor and some fun art. There are several different lounge areas (each unique), a few bars, and table service. They host sweet themed parties occasionally and commission good DJs. And surprise - the drinks aren't crazy expensive! Even when I'm feeling all fancy-pants and order top shelf, I still find the prices reasonable. Only qualms = there's only 2 unisex bathroom stalls (that I've found) and the dance floor could be bigger. But that doesn't stop me from bouncing around on it like a Mexican jumping bean! read more

This is a club where you need to abide by the buddy system or else you will get lost. Guaranteed. The space is HUGE. Although when you're in there, it feels a lot smaller due to the bodies packing into every nook and cranny. Dress to impress and be prepared for pricey drinks (what else is new?). A lot of strobe lights, a background to take pictures with your friends, and loud music to the point where you can't hear yourself talk are all main features of the Exchange. You and your friends will have a good time here if you plan to stop by during a night on the town. The bartenders are often crowded with customers, but really nice! I simply had to ask them where the ATM was and they were attentive to my question. I never found my way to the ATM because of the mass amount of people, but I appreciated their willingness to assist me despite the customers. Tip: Fellas do not even attempt wearing a t-shirt or sports affiliated athletic wear into this place...they will not let you in. This is the worst bar I have ever been too. My review comes quite late, as the last (my first and only time) I was there was during the Christmas Bar Crawl in Minneapolis, which I believed to be in December of 2017. This bar was a part of the crawl, and my best friend and I were just starting our night. This one was the second bar we went to. Upon entering, it was apparent that there was no preparation for this event. No one carded us at the door, there were few bartenders, and it was pure chaos and a free for all. I purchased two shots for my friend and I, which came out to be $12 including a tip. After about a hour or so there, we went along our merry way to a different venue. Fast forward to a few days after, and my bank account said I was charged $30 from this venue. Not a big deal, mistakes happen. I looked up the only phone number listed (which is for the VIP bottle service manager). I informed her of the problem, and noted that it wasn't a big deal, but they had charged me about $20 extra. She, in a condescending tone, proceeded to tell me that she didn't know why I was "making such a big deal out of $20", and that I wasn't getting my money back. After a week of fighting, and getting nowhere I threatened to get BBB involved. Instantly, I received a phone call from her and her manager (who I was previously told didn't exist). He told me that I would get my $20 back, all while she continued to berate me ("it's $20", "why are you making such a big deal out of $20). Regrettably, I said "shit" while trying to express how frustrated I was. As soon as I swore, the "manager" ended the call with "we hope to see you again" and hung up on me. The $20 was refunded the next day. Please, do not waste your money. Please, do not support this kind of customer service. read more

Pretty chill place to be honest. I have been to this club sprinkled throughout the past few years and usually I have a great time. If you use the bueno app you get in for free typically, which is ALWAYS a plus if you're not trying to break bank on the cover charges. I reserved a table with bottle service ahead of time for my birthday celebration for 8 PEOPLE. The table they provided for us could fit 4-5 max. When my boyfriend asked if they had any other tables that could actually fit our group, they told him that they were booked out for the entire night and that we had to "make it work." Please explain to me how the hell were supposed to cram 8 people into a booth to fit 4. We ended up leaving and the night was ruined because of the way we were treated. I think we all can agree that Minneapolis, for the most part, is lacking in the non-sleazy, non-cheesy club scene.This was our first time at this club, after hearing great reviews from some of our more social friends. We were celebrating our friend's bachelorette party, so expectations were HIGH and the Exchange hit the mark! We were put in contact with Megan about a month before our event. She was wonderful to work with, answered all our questions and genuinely seem to care that our night was supposed to go as planned. The complimentary bottle of bubbly for our bride was a great bonus! We paid for a VIP section/Bottle Service (minimum prices range from $300-$500 depending on the location of your table and the amount of people). We were actually at the Exchange for a bridal shower earlier in the day and we were so happy to see that they had set up the balloons for our bride that we had left from our earlier event. We arrived around 11 pm and I highly suggest using the VIP entrance. There was no line and we were escorted to our table by one of the lovely VIP ladies. If you're dropping this kind of cash, I like to take every opportunity to feel special! Our server was wonderful and checked in often without being annoying. The bubbly was great and the sparklers made our bride's night. The music was just what we were hoping for (Backstreet Boys remixes, current hits, etc) and we boogied all night. **Tip: Get VIP Bottle Service if you're celebrating with a group. Used to enjoy coming to this place because I was treated like a valued customer until last night. Incredibly disappointing & incendiary experience! I've been convincing my friends to come here since it opened and therefore have the Bueno app to skip cover charge. Last night the woman at the door deleted my bueno code before scanning it & then told me it only counts if it's current. Duh-not my first rodeo! She then proceeded to charge me cover anyways. I asked her what my code was good for then or if they were no longer accepting them & she responded that it didn't matter & I owed cover. At this point my friends were already inside & at risk of making a scene I just paid to go inside. Luckily I met some decent staff at the back bar who listened to my tale and were apologetic. They comped my drinks to try & rectify the situation but the experience is disappointing enough for me to wonder how they expect to stay in business. read more

ONE bartender, Kirk, was fantastic. Otherwise a terrible place. A friend of mine was hanging out with someone in a VIP area and I was hanging close. The VIP people didn't want me there and I was told I could stand at the bar. I asked exactly how close I could stand, to make sure my friends wasn't harmed, and I was subsequently kicked out. I have it on recording where the security guard said that we were kicked out because we had the potential to get raped, and we didn't pay for VIP. This "high end" club is a joke. I can understand a dress code, but if you have one it needs to be enforced on everyone. I'm completely fine with a no hat policy, but if this is the case and you collect hats at the door do not give hats out to the wrong owner. I gave my hat to security at the door to hold and after going in for 20 min downstairs we decided the club was lame. When I returned to security to get my hat they no longer had it in their possession. I was not given an apology for them losing my belongings , but instead I was given attitude and acted as if I was in the wrong. What was more annoying than losing a new hat was that there were 3-4 dudes rocking snap backs in the club. As I stated before this club is a joke. I give it another 6 months before its shut down like every other club that has attempted to open at that venue. read more

Extremely disappointed with this experience I had. I have gone to Exchange a handful of times in the last year, even celebrated my birthday last year there. Never had any complaints, good service and I like the multicultural crowd experience. This past weekend upon trying to enter with my cousin, I was trying to pay for the entrance fee for me and her. The girl who was beside the cashier who was ringing up credit cards didn't even mind a single word I was saying to her, completely and totally rude! I told her that I wanted to pay for two people, totally ignored me, and when she turned the iPad for me to sign, I told her again that I wanted to pay for two people. She then verbally attacked me, and to threaten my entrance to the club, the bouncer then took her side because she made it seem like I was the aggressor, when I only told her to charge the card for two people, and refused to return back my money. I will NEVER return and I will definitely tell all the people I know not to return here. I don't believe I have ever been treated so unjustly by any person or place in my life as I was here. For background, I am a female physician that has always followed all of the rules. It was near the end of the night. I was standing against an open wall waiting for my girlfriend to come back and closed my eyes for a minute as I was listening to the music and thinking about the night. All of a sudden a random guy came up into my personal space without an introduction, startling me, and gave me the impression that he was trying to hit on me. I said to back away. He began to put his arms on me and I pushed them off, telling him don't touch me. Turns out he was a bouncer, but dressed in clothes like any other patron. He then spoke into his hidden mouth piece to say he had a girl that was sleeping. I was in disbelief of what was going on. I kept saying I'm waiting for my friend. He said I'm getting kicked out for hitting a security guard (I had pushed his arms off me?). All I did was defend myself. He then aggressively lifted me straight up in the air with my arms restrained at my sides and dramatically hurried me to the front stairs to push me off to another bouncer. Nothing I said could turn any of it around. The other bouncer said I was tagged to get out and continued to push me up the stairs out the door. Mind you it was about 20 degrees outside and windy; my friend had checked our coats. I said at least let me have my coat to go outside with. Since I wasn't the one with the coat ticket, he just pushed me out the front door. What happened at this club was insane, surreal and by far the most traumatic event I have ever experienced. I can't really picture what a girl could ever do to deserve being thrown out of an establishment, and into the cold without her coat. I was minding my own business, not bothering anyone. My impression of what occurred is that this bouncer was upset that I wasn't interested in him and wanted to teach me a lesson by having me tossed out. His position as part of security should have been announced immediately when he came up to me. My friend had one of the club heads come out, but in my eyes, he did not seem to care about what had happened. I will never be returning to this bar. I don't feel that it is a safe place to have a good time. I would never have imagined something like this happening to me. read more

I celebrated my birthday there last night and they told my group that the total was only going to be 150. They ended up making us buy another bottle for 200 and charged us 244 instead on top of 150. They charged us for the wrong bottle. Horrible place to go. Go here if you want to get ripped off. This place is super shady and unethical. All they want is your money. SHADY. I will never return. Let's start with that. I asked one question about drinks and was told I was asking stupid questions by one of the bartenders. I go to clubs often, so lights don't bother me BUT the lights here, in the basement, are outrageous. I left with a migraine. The dress code is inconsistent. Some people in our group were let in and some weren't. Some hats let in, some not. Some shorts let in, some not. Some shoes let in, some not.
