I came here with a friend a couple weeks ago and had a great time! The patio vibe is really chill and welcoming, as well as all the staff. We tried the jam and rum drinks and they were delicious. I ordered a lemon first and then the pear. The lemon was much more flavorful, but both were really good. We tried the elote dish, which was really unique flavors but I enjoyed it! The burgers had a mix up and we received the wrong one at first, but our server was quick to correct the problem and very kind about the whole interaction. Normally, it would be worth knocking a star, but her kindness went really far that night! And I didn't mind waiting. Checked out Luna and the Bear during restaurant week and the food was good and the vibes were cute! The burrata and jam came out with a generous amount of fig jam that paired with the burrata well. The Luna Burger was standard, and the fries were crispy and salted well (also another generous portion). The fudgy brownie was awesome and I loved the broiled marshmallow fluff on top. For $9 you can get a pour of sparkling wine that has already been opened. Service was friendly, but it was a little odd because our plates were never cleared, so by the end of the meal space was a little tight since there were so many plates on our table. We went in for dinner and got seated immediately. Our entire group got drinks and we all enjoyed them. My old fashioned was one of the best I have ever had! Where it fell short for us was the food. It was average food and made the experience worse at the end. My burger tasted bland and the jam was non existent. The service was okay. It felt like things took a little longer than they should have and our checks were messed up. This wasn't a huge deal but added to our experience. Wow, what a treat! Luna & the Bear is located in a lovely old building with beautiful decor; so many fantastic details in the interior. It's lightly canine themed. The service was friendly although a bit slow; I think they might have been understaffed a bit on a Monday night. Their nonalcoholic gin-jam mocktails were fantastic; just the right amount of sweet and tangy flavor. They have the BEST onion rings. Perfectly fried, lightly crunchy beer batter. We both really enjoyed the burgers. The Pear Jam burger was a standout; it seems like an unusual combo of ingredients but it works. The only downsides were that the menu was weirdly full of typos, and the fries were bad (hard, cold, bathed in salt). The bar was quiet, but with only two people working, the staff were running around because Luna's space is quite large. It's homey and attractive, but challenging for servers to navigate. Fortunately, a third person showed up to help, and that's when we began to enjoy ourselves. The charming Molly had time to talk with us and advise us about the menu. Luna & the bear was quite the find. We were nearby and looking for somewhere to go for an early family dinner on a Friday night. We had just missed happy hour (I'll be back). But the menu was quite extensive and offered a variety of options from the wings, burrata, pastas and burger options. They make their jams in house which are featured in several of the dishes. Our server/bartender Molly was friendly and gave some details about good options. We ordered the fries which came with 4 dipping sauces, the dry rub wings which had a smoky/sweet mesquite flavor- a generous portion and fried to perfection! My cousin ordered the fish and chips, he said it was a miss I think it was lacking seasoning (add it to the batter). And I went with the chicken and Brie and it was outstanding I ordered the fig jam on the side and it was such a great option the ciabatta took it up a notch and Brie ... need I say more? For drinks a few people tried the house made lemonade ... I think there was some confusion about its ingredients but they said it was good (I'm not a lemonade drinker). The restaurant is large with a cute, intimate back room, large well lit dining area with large bar and spacious patio. They are also dog friendly. I will definitely be back the next time I'm home. Went here Wednesday of Restaurant Week with a reservation. When we arrived we were told that the only table available was right next to the door on a cold drafty night, so we had to sit at the bar. Then the trivia started - which is a total vibe killer as it makes conversation difficult. To top it off the food was merely adequate (excluding the spicy cauliflower app which was amazing). I have been waiting to try this place, so when a friend suggested it while we were in the neighborhood, I jumped at the opportunity. I am really glad I did and hope to visit again. Starting with the drinks, they are known for their gin drinks. You can select the gin and then a jam to stir in. They will have a gin of the moment that is unhappy hour special, which is what we tried. I can't remember what the gin was, but we had strawberry jam stirred in. Not something I would've thought of, but I really enjoyed the beverage. We were on our way to another event so we just ordered a few appetizers. The fried cauliflower was outstanding. Not a really heavy or too oily. Just the right texture and flavor. We had the Elote style corn, and that was a bit disappointing. The corn itself was cooked well, but there was just something a bit off about the cheese. It had a funky taste to it that I can't quite describe, but it just seemed off. It was not something you could eat separate from the corn, although combine with the corn it tasted better. I just would not recommend that though. The staff was excellent. Luna & The Bear is known for their Gin & Jams so I of course had to try it. They give the option of picking your own pairing of gin and jam with simple syrup and lemon juice. I chose the Jin Jiji India Dry Gin and the the raspberry jam creating the perfect light pink drink. The jam adds a sweetness that you can not replicate in this drink. The happy hour menu looked great but since this was my first visit I decided to try the main menu, and landed on the Sweet Heat Burger. This burger was more sweet than spicy and well cooked. I highly recommend the peach habanero jam that is on this burger, on everything. At 4:00 pm the bar hands out free bubbles, just because. The Pickleball drink was the best!!!!! Wings - okay Jalapeño Poppers - good, but I didn't like the bacon cheddar cream cheese dip that came with them. It was too hard to move around and actually get dip onto the popper. Roasted Vegetable Salad - great, refreshing! Charred Corn Salad - ok I would like to return to try more of their food and try that Pickleball drink again!!! My only complaint is that our server was incredibly slow. It was a little upsetting as we would have ordered more during happy hour, but instead we sat with empty drinks for over 15 mins while we watched the clock tick away happy hour. It wasn't just the slow happy hour ordering, it was also that she never really checked in on us. She took a very long time to bring our check and to go boxes. This place is really great. Wife and I both took a Monday off work. Walked in here at like 12:45 for lunch and we had the place to ourselves for most of our meal. The one bartender working was really chill and nice. We started eating on the patio, but several bees caused us to move inside. Pros: - all the food was great. - nice atmosphere. - quick service (although we were the only ones there). Cons: - Price. After tax and tip, our total was $85. Yes, we got a cocktail and appetizer. But it just feels so high. We only had one small leftover box of fries too. We got two entrees. The Bear burger was great. I don't always order burgers at places as it's usually not worth it. But this one was pretty good. I got their potato chips, which were awesome, and a small side of French onion dip. The French onion dip was mid - don't recommend. My wife got a grilled chciken sandwich with shoestring fries. The fries were good and the sandwich had no complaints. We got one cocktail that was AMAZING. I can't recall the name, but see it in my photos. The beer batter cheese curds came with a jam. They/the jam are the star of the show. Amazing. I just wish for $14 we got more than like 15 small-medium curds. If you have a table of more than two people, you could easily order 2-3 orders of the curds, unless you are smaller peeps. Overall, I really do like this place. I would go back. The biggest drawback is the cost. We also didn't go during a busy time of day, and some other reviews have stated the service can be slow when they get busy. I say this a lot in my other reviews, but it's hard to justify the cost. Our waitress Fiona was amazing, she might have been the only waitress working outside since there were only a few tables. We started with the fried cauliflower, which was in a sweet tangy chili sauce. It was good, nothing crazy. We had the short rib grilled cheese and chicken & Brie sandwich as our mains. Again, they were both good, but not outstanding. The short rib grilled cheese didn't skimp on the meat, which we appreciated! It came with a dipping sauce similar to an au jus. The chicken & Brie sandwich had a fig jam that I found to overpower the sandwich. So make sure you love figs if you're ordering this! The biggest bummer was the fries were cold. Like very cold :( However - the dirty martini is a must try! It's different than I've had at other places, I'm not sure what they did, but it works!! 10/10. Overall, this place is okay/good! Had a business dinner at Luna and the Bear. The experience was a bit of a mixed bag. We were greeted by an excellent bartender--attentive, friendly, and really made the start of the evening enjoyable. Unfortunately, the noise level in the main dining area was extremely loud, which made it difficult to carry on a conversation. It happened to be "Travis Night," and the added volume from that event made things even more overwhelming. Hoping for a quieter setting, we moved to the patio, but the outdoor speakers were still blaring--despite no one actively participating in the game--so we didn't really escape the noise. As for the food:    *   Chips: 4/5 - crisp, flavorful, and the highlight of the meal.    *   Cheese curds: 3/5 - solid, though not extraordinary.    *   Elote corn: Tasty with good seasoning, but served as a full ear, making it hard to share.    *   Burgers: Disappointingly mediocre--nothing to write home about. Started with the cheese curds. Not your "typical" cheese curd, but absolutely incredible lightness (which didn't make sense), but was so delicious. Served with an onion jam. WOW! 2nd time here and once again. Absolutely loved it. I had the short rib grilled cheese and it was delicious. Perfectly toasted and the pork rib was moist and delicious. I've been told this place is amazing and finally made the trip. I was lucky enough to go during their holiday pop up in their Moonwater lounge. Let's start with location, this is on eat street so there is street parking but it's free and even without close up parking it wasn't afar walk from some side streets. Seating was well spaced and comfy. Very clean and both sides have a great ambiance holiday or not. Our server was Fiona and she was Amazing. She had great recommendations and was attentive with a fun personality. The cocktails were well balanced and on point. I went with the holiday Gingerbread Chai and then the standard gin and jam with a ginger orange jam. I love that you can choose your gin from their menu to match your jam. . Food, we started with the Burrata and jam which was delicious! Only suggestion is maybe 2 more pieces of bread to create more even ratio of everything else. I also chose the blackened Chicken and Andouille for my main dish. Unlike many pasta dishes. The ration of meat to pasta was great and the spice level was perfect for me. Very flavorful. Lastly, we chose the holiday flaming campfire shots. It was a fun drink with an experience. I liked it so much I brought friends back a week later. We had reservations for here, but showed up early in order to have time next door at the Moonwater Gin Bar. We were told we could get the same food from Luna & the Bear in the Moonwater plus some other things exclusive to the Moonwater so we just stayed in the Moonwater. They never seemed to hover, yet we're always there when we needed more e water or libations and we're extremely helpful with suggestions and information about the drink and food menus as well as pairings. So on to the food and pur only complaint. We ordered the burrata and jam as an appetitizer and placed our entree order at the same time. We maybe had the appetitizer for a minute and the entrees showed up. If we were seated at a larger table it wouldn't have been a huge deal, but we were at smaller 2 person table. So we quickly finished up the app. and dove into supper. I ordered The Bear and my wife ordered short rib grilled cheese with a cup of the tomato soup. The Bear was good, but if you are expecting spicy it is Minnesota hot. The short rib grilled cheese was delicious and when dipped into the soup was amazing. As for the cocktails the umeboshi was just the ticket for me...a unique cocktail featuring a unique snack(japanese fermented salty plum) I tried for the 1st and only time over 30 years ago. My wife had the sparkler drink, which while writing this review I realized she didn't get a sparkler. Then later she had the classic G&T, both of her drinks were good, but didn't surpass the umeboshi in my books. "We are out of knives..." Friendly staff and the food was ok, but I think they might have some management problems. On a Saturday night it was about 1/2 full. No beer list, (the server offered to go and write them down for me). We ordered. Someone else came out with our food and was going from table to table trying to find out whose it was. It's OK and I might give it another chance. I came for their happy hour and the "infamous gin and jam". It's a good gimmick, exactly what it sounds like -- basically a fancy gin and juice, made fancy by weirdly infused jams. Solid drink for the HH price of $11, though that is definitely the high end for what you get. I did not order food this night, but some of the apps looked not bad. There is a $20 burger, fries, and beer special on Wednesday nights to accompany trivia. The guy next to me got it even though it wasn't a Wednesday, it certainly LOOKED decent. Service was not great. They spent most of their time chatting with friends and other wait staff, getting a refill would've been impossible if I hadn't learned their name so I could holler it. I've never sat at a mostly-empty bar before and waited 5 minutes just for someone to even notice I was there. Now sure, it was a bad weather day when I came, but it was still off from how most places do it. read more

It was light and easy and reminded me of a premium strawberry lemonade. I also tried the gin and fig & orange jam and that one was perfection. It was adorable how they serve some of the jam on a spoon. The presentation gets ya. I'm going to try to make this at home. Wish me luck. I wasn't sure what I was hungry for... debated getting a salad, but defaulted to the chicken sandwich. I wasn't overly in love with it. The presentation was basic, the flavor unfortunately was also basic. I've had a lot of tasty chicken sandwiches and this one needed something to stand out. The breading was crispy at first, but it got soggy quick and I couldn't taste the sweet chili aioli. The shoestring fries were crispy, but needed some flavor. WOW! I can't believe I haven't dropped a review before because this place is incredible and we've been coming since shortly after they opened. Always a very warm quick welcome whether the door person or bar. As always the ambiance and open feel is incredible as well as their beautiful patio. Services always top notch. This time the manager greeted us, seated us and got in our drink order. She had a great vibe and suggestions. Food is always incredibly well cooked and thoughtful. I like that they've added more fresh things as I can do too many friend things together but seriously everything I've tried is a 10/10. This is a place where you'll have to visit again. Great decor: cool wallpaper, and a cool chandelier. They also have a stellar happy hour menu. He told us his favorites with the perfect amount of description. I'm not a fan of gin but after a delicious old fashioned, I asked him to make something with gin because gosh darn it, he was just so excited to do so. True to his word, it was very tasty.
