You enter through a door in the back of the building where the parking is located. I had previously been here for a birthday party outside but had never been inside. Upon entering we were greeted by a woman who was clearly wearing multiple hats as she seemed rushed, a bit off putting and quite frankly distracted. It was Juneteenth the middle of the afternoon and there were maybe 6 people at the bar and one other table besides ours with 2 diners. The person seating us was also our server and the bartender. Menu is small but the items we ordered were all fabulous! Every single one! The collard green dip with cornbread pita chips was absolutely delicious - Think spinach artichoke dip but soul food! The salmon croquettes with lemon herb aioli and arugula salad that accompanied were fresh and light! The catfish sandwich with fries was hot, crispy and well seasoned with fresh lettuce and tomato on a perfectly tender brioche bun. I want to return so bad for the food but it was clear this host, server, bartender and partial cook was pulled in too many directions and that severely compromised our service and gave us stand off energy as first time patrons. I looked it up and she is actually one of the owners. She came across as irritated especially once we didn't order any alcoholic drinks first and then very short and curt following. What took the cake was her telling us she was leaving for the day and needed to close our tab while we were eating. Didn't ask did we want to order anything else and there was another server taking her place and an empty restaurant! My partner had to put his sandwich down wipe his hands pull out his wallet while she stood there impatiently. Then proceeded to linger around hugging her regular bar patrons. It was clear this is a "regulars" spot and if you're not one you're rolling the dice on the service you may or may not get. We were patient and didn't complain because it was Juneteenth and our intention to support black restaurants all weekend. I have many previous years in the industry as a cook, host and GM and I was stunned to know that she was one of the owners when I looked it up. Had planned to return for live music but unfortunately the off putting energy and unwelcoming vibe may have squashed that possibility. I hope they improve service because the food is delicious and deserves attention from a larger and more sophisticated audience. read more

As a NS4L and small business owner, I've tried to support this business, but tonight, my third attempt was the last straw. I made a reservation on Resy (I'll be letting American Express know that this establishment doesn't honor such things) for my birthday celebration at 7 pm. It was 7:30 before our order for beverages was taken. Then 8 pm before drinks arrived and appetizers could be ordered. At 8:45 pm, we finally could put in our dinner order. Only to be notified st 8:59 pm that our table (along with several others) were reserved for friends of the host for the second part of night and we needed to vacate the table for other people We had to box our just arrived dinner meals and stand with our drinks. Several nearby tables offered to let us sit with them as they thought it was awful that we were upended and we standing there with full drinks and our meals in cardboard containers. When we told our waitress that we wouldn't have ordered dinner or more drinks if we had known, she said that she found out one minute before she told us. She offered us two seats at a couch nearby to finish our drinks and try to eat our dinners. Only for the owner Fonzie to come over a couple minutes later and tell us that we couldn't sit there because other people were coming in for that spot too. Nothing in the reservation said that it was a limited slot and the fact that even the waitress was unaware that we were going to have to leave to table literally after our dinner was brought to us speaks to the lack of business management or understanding of this establishment. I've tried to give this spot a chance. But after a very disappointing attempt to celebrate my birthday this evening, I will not be returning. The lack of any attempt by Fonzie to rectify this situation was disappointing at best. Several hundred dollars down the drain and a ruined birthday celebration Is not how I envisioned my evening I normally do not make my posts public/sharable. But this time, I welcome you all to share this and warn people of the lackluster way that this business expects people to spend our time and money. read more

Great Saturday Brunch with friends! The ambiance was dimly lit and welcoming. There are a few seating options. Which was nice. We were greeted right away. The food and menu choices were sooooo good. It was very quiet in the whole space, and service was still questionable. There was another patron at the bar that would ask if we needed anything and they relay it to our server. We ordered a meal that came with potatoes steak bites and green beans (photo not included) Once it came we had to call them back and inquire as there were no green beans on the plate. Had to return for a five star edit bc this spot has only gone up! Love the cigar parties on the patio in the summer. Live DJs are often playing. The nightlight in Minneapolis is kinda flat but I found this place while searching for "R&B". I believe they just did a rebrand recently and I have high hopes for them! It was a bit tricky getting in as the entrance is the in the back of the building. It's a restaurant/bar inside and they sell cigars so I guess it's a cigar bar at times too. However, it was NOT smoked out. I was sat immediately because I booked a reservation. The DJ did well with the R&B mashups. I do wish it was more of a "lounge" feel. My wife wanted to visit after seeing someone's tiktok so we decidedly to swing by on a weekend for lunch. Well unfortunately they were doing a brunch menu at the time we got there so we had to suffer through a delicious meal. Upon arrival we were wondering if we were in the right place as the outside does not reflect the beautiful interior's ambiance. The bartender, server, and host were all fantastic and super friendly. My wife ordered the steak bites and an espresso martini while I ordered the biscuits & gravy and a bloody mary. My wife said the espresso martini was the best she's ever had asked the bartender how this one was made(he revealed one of the ingredients not used in others she has had). The steak bites were great with grill marks and were succulent and perfectly seasoned. I thought the bloody was great, but could use more heat and the host came by with a tincture to spice it up(he made it in-house) while I wasn't blown away initially by the biscuits & gravy my wife pointed out it was made with beef instead of pork sausage which surprised me because it was super flavorful for beef gravy. It's a real treat to have a classy place within walking distance of my home. Perhaps we should have walked since the parking lot was full for Sunday jazz brunch. Inside it was very festive with fairy lights seeming extra bright against the deep teal walls, and our friendly host in a red suit and hat added to the holiday spirit. We had to wait a few minutes for our table, but drinks arrived fairly promptly. Thank you fellow Yelpers who mentioned the Peach Bellini; it was delicious. Food took a bit longer; we heard they had a new cook today. My sons both got the sausage and biscuits and said they were tasty. I got the Camden Omelette because I am a sucker for anything with caramelized onions. Combined with the wonderfully gooey cheese and red peppers inside, it will likely be my brunch favorite. The crispy potatoes had a nice kick too. The bathroom was very elegant and sparkling clean. I forgot to ask the name of the band, but they did a great job with jazz instrumentals of holiday favorites. They also snuck in Happy Birthday! I would definitely recommend this as a good place to hang out for those looking for a classy place over North, especially on Sundays when they have jazz music along with their brunch, which my friend and I have experienced last weekend. I have been there twice so far, and experiences have been positive. The highlight is all the meat, from the fried chicken in the BLT to the catfish with grits, and even to the jumbo shrimps included in the brunch shrimp & grits dish. The wings were also seasoned very well on the outside, while retaining the juiciness inside. When my partner and I went there on Juneteenth for lunch, the food presentation was better (croquettes, catfish, fried chicken BLT, and the bread pudding), which was just my neutral observation. I didn't think that the shrimp & grits had enough grits, especially because it had a lot of shrimp, which contributed to me finishing the dish in 2 minutes. This may not be a problem for most people, though, as I have heard about more people elsewhere having issues with not having enough shrimp. Sometimes the arugula, which was more of a garnish already, seemed unnecessary, such as from the biscuits & gravy in the photo, one cab tell that even for garnish, they're just kind of there with no other purpose and didn't really contribute to the presentation, while on the smoked salmon croquettes, which looked like the arugula contributed to the appearance, the arugula seemed to be more useful. Comparatively, the food I had from lunch on Juneteenth was better than what I had for brunch last Sunday. I saw on another review that they have just hired a new cook. Not sure if that contributed to any of what I have mentioned, but just wanted to share. Still doing well in 2025. The Carbona was really more Alfredo than Carbona but who cares it was delicious. The wings too were yummy with a wonderful dry rub and cooked perfectly. What a treat first to see Jennifer Grimm and Joe Cruz and second to meet the owner and eat at this wonderful establishment. I ordered the fish and spaghetti with the waiters recommendation, it was good but too spicy for me, I traded dinners with my fiancé, he had the Camden Carbonara with chicken which was delicious and perfect amount of spice for me with some grilled bread, my friend had the catfish with grits and she said it was the best cat fish she's had and the grits were good but again the dish would have been too spicy for me, she ate her plate clean which she said is rare. Her husband had the buttermilk fried chicken with black eyed peas, Fresno and green onion with cornbread, he said the dishes flavors were perfect but that the chicken was a little overcooked. We shared the butter cake for dessert they also have a peach bread pudding we loved the cake but will try bread pudding next time. Very nice space with a cool vibe There's a little cigar counter, lounge seats, a bar, and a fun accent wall. While there were lots of tables, I found them to be a bit too close. Service was good and friendly, I really felt welcomed like I was visiting someone's home. As was the food, it was overall fine. The blue cheese that came with the wings was a hit. I even tried it on the burger. The burger was okay, but something was throwing off the flavor. I'm not sure it it was the seasoning or cream cheese spread. The kale dip was another hit. To drink, I initially wanted a non alcoholic cocktail, but based on how it was described, it was just a bunch of juices mixed together. It would be a space saver to have built in booth seating on the back wall across the bar so they could open up space even more. Its a minor yet impactful suggestion. Price | food 4/5 decently priced food, drinks and I don't smoke cigars so I wouldn't know. Food was just ok. I didn't care for the Shrimp and Grits however I believe its a meal that should be exclusively cooked from folks from down south. My friend's chicken meal looked and smelled great.
