Good luck returning something, they charge a 15% restocking fee just to throw the item back on the shelf, what a joke.

Nice layout with a pretty good selection. The help seems to know their stuff. They showed good knowledge and steered me to some new music.

Jerry's Records made me fall in love with my record player. I couldn't have asked for a better…read morestore to help me build my collection. I can always find something I'm interested in for $10 or less. Jerry's is a third place to me. It's a must visit every time I'm back in Pittsburgh! Jerry's is estimated to have over 500,000 records. Here's what I've learned from my two years in Pittsburgh to help sort through the collection: 1. Best sellers are located upfront. Normally there's a few of each artist: The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rush, Aerosmith, and many more. Price range between $20-60 2. For people starting out, Jerry's has a lot of well known albums and artists for $7-8 a record. Common finds: Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Santana, REO Speedwagon, Jefferson Starship/Jefferson Airplane, Elton John, STYX, and Chicago. 3. Huge Christmas selection in the $3-20 range. They likely have what you're looking for. My boyfriend's mom was looking for Christmas with Mitch for many years. She found 8 copies at Jerry's Records in less than 15 minutes. 4. There's a large Broadway and musical soundtrack section tucked in the corner down the first hallway on the right. Normally they are about $5-15. 5. Before checking out, look at the record and sleeve for damages. From experience, most priced above $7 play really well. They may have a few crackles, but a quick wash takes most of that away. Things in the $3 range are risky.

This record store is gigantic and maybe my favorite thing is that there are a couple of different…read moredivided rooms, and different music was playing in the main room (which includes rock/pop, alternative, and folk alongside all of their bestsellers) and then if you venture off into the well-stocked jazz room -- through a small corridor, you are greeted by a whole new acoustic vibe. The records here for the most part seem to be vintage. I didn't find a number of things I was looking for -- perhaps they were too new to be found here or a little obscure. But, I did notice that they have a very large collection of musicals and film soundtracks (the former of which I am a major fan). The rows and rows of what I think is their back stock not in the main center of the store are also a sight to behold. There are also a lot of hodgepodge bins at the front of the newest and "hottest" arrivals, as well as employee picks. I'm sure I'll be back here again. There must be 50K records in here. It is a bit overwhelming. Also, I will lastly say that the prices for the majority of items I saw while perusing are rather affordable and reasonable.

I tagged along with some friends to visit this store, and honestly didn't expect to find anything…read more But I left with two items, a CD and a DVD, that I was excited to find. They have a pretty extensive selection of CDs, DVDs, albums, video games, and memorabilia at a wide range of price points. I especially enjoyed browsing the large selection of TV DVD box sets. Prices seem pretty good for the condition of the used items. The CD I purchased was $10, which at first glance seemed kind of high, but a quick search on Amazon showed me it was a pretty good deal. They also have a rewards program that's free to sign up for and can earn you a discount on future purchases. The employees are very friendly and helpful, and seem very knowledgeable about the products. The only not so great thing about shopping the store is that the majority of the products are kept in locked cases, apparently as much for organizational purposes as to deter theft according to an employee I overheard discussing it with another customer. The employees are happy to unlock whatever cases you need and patiently give you the time to read the packaging and decide if you want to purchase an item or not, but it can make you feel rushed to make a decision once the case is unlocked and they're waiting for you to decide before they re-lock it. And if the store is busy, you might have to wait a bit for an employee to be free and able to help you. Overall though, a fun place to browse and maybe pick up something to add to your media collection.

I've picked up some amazing quality stuff at very fair prices over the years and I'm almost always able to find something I don't have that I need to have (even though I own a few thousand records at this point) among the extensive inventory of used rock. Unlike the previous reviewer I find the prices more than reasonable on almost everything and the owner seems like a fun guy with a good sense of humor. Highly recommended and potentially worth the side-trip for anyone traveling between Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

You…read morecan find all the classic rock, blues and soul artists you'd expect, along with a small portion of new popular music. The jazz inventory could probably use some work, but I'm guessing there aren't too many customers stopping in looking for that genre. The man who runs it is fairly friendly and will certainly chat with you while you browse, but if I had any bit of advice for him it would be to lower the price of his records. A Muddy Waters pressing from the 1970s might be worth $10-15 if it is in near mint condition, but anything less than that doesn't warrant such a price tag. I know you have to make your money somehow, but I can't figure out who is constantly buying these records at these prices to keep the place in business. My visit wasn't a disappointment at all, I found some interesting additions to my collection while I was there, it just cost me more than it was worth. It's as cool as a vinyl shop can be, but it's not the first place I think to go when I was to buy more wax.
