Did not walk out of the office until 5:10 pm. We understand that sometimes emergencies happen that create longer wait times but this is a regular occurrence at this institution. Today they apologized for the long wait times blaming it on the leaving snowbirds trying to get their last eye exam in before returning home. Well that's absurd. Who scheduled all those snowbirds. They certainly didn't just decide to walk in and demand to be seen. Someone is responsible for the over scheduling. Maybe they should re adjust the time allotment for each patient as the current scheduling procedures are creating long and unnecessary wait times for each patient.

Not only did I have a very mature cataract, but I was also extremely myopic with a -25.5 prescription - the highest on record at his office. This elongated eyeball made measuring for the precise intraocular lens (IOL) challenging. The measurements showed I needed a special 3-piece lens rather than the standard one-piece. Additionally, a previous eye surgery had replaced my vitreous with liquid, which raised concerns about whether it could adequately hold the new lens capsule in place. Despite the difficulties, Dr. Johnson promised improved vision but was upfront that he couldn't guarantee perfection. I appreciated his honesty. On surgery day at the Sarasota surgery center, the nurses were incredibly kind and attentive. They made sure I was warm and comfortable throughout by frequently providing heated blankets tucked around me at my request. After the surgery, I was overjoyed to be able to see clearly without glasses or contacts for the first time since getting my first -4.50 prescription at age 9! Dr. Johnson even called later to check on me. I am utterly thrilled with the results. Dr. Johnson's skills and his perfect lens selection have given me a new lease on life being able to see with my own eyes at my age despite my eye's complexities. I'm so grateful! However, there is a jewel in the crown and that is at 2601 S. tamiami Trail. Her name Jean Austin and she helped me with getting a new pair of glasses. It took awhile to find the right pair but her patience was unending. I found out that all the Center for Sight's have different eyeglass frame. This location definitely has the best choice and superb service.

They do offer plan payments and they do take vision insurance(make sure if your provider covers it. Doctor Lewis, thank you SO much! He is one of the best LASIK plus surgeons in the states and he is the one who did my procedure. The procedure is painless (everyone pain level is different) and is done in minutes, the healing is pretty fast after a month you can back to most of your normal activities, make sure you follow all the indications step by step. My vision was -4.5 on both eyes I'm still on the healing process but now I have 20/15 vision I'm so happy for this decision.

Unfortunately I got a call from a collection agency yesterday. Unbelievable! I reluctantly paid it because I wanted to preserve my good credit. What a disappointment. Stopped here out of curiosity and convenience and was immediately impressed with Dr. George Hurwitz's professionalism and concern for my sight conditions. Updated prescription and quick turnaround with new lenses with no pressure to update my somewhat expensive frames that had already served me well for a few years. A couple years later Dr. Hurwitz referred to their LASIK surgeon in Sarasota to correct an ongoing problem which has also been beneficial.
