Yes, the bowls were tiny and there were no massage chairs, lighted decor or ambiance. But honestly the pedis were just as good. Do we need upgraded renovations to feel beautiful? No but that's progress. And everything else is going up. Apparently we'll patronize no matter how high the prices are. At 5pm the sign says "no more pedicures." Come early and put your name on the list, especially if you have a favorite nail tech. Then ask how long the wait is and have them call you. Sign up the evening before if you want to come in the morning. Don't put your belongings down unless you want them covered in dust.. Bring cash or use their ATM. On the plus side, the wait wasn't too long and there are lots of DND colors to choose from. I picked a pretty reddish pink #235. They use fresh tools for every customer, goodbye cheese grater! She even squeezed fresh lemon on my toes! I bring my own foot soak. Neo soul plays in the background, I'm pampering myself. But at this price point it's more an occasional splurge than bi-monthly ritual.

I got to the salon right on time and was greeted warmly. I got a full explanation on what was happening at each step and the care and maintenance for the lashes when everything was over. I think she was just in a bad mood, or perhaps it's the poor customer service that's the reason she's not busy today. Probably because the locals know better. I should've trusted my gut and went to Saylah Threading on Amsterdam Ave instead. My girl at Saylah always does an excellent job with no extra requirements on behalf of the customer and charges half the iiprice in a spa setting! The big windows , music and design allow for a peaceful and elevated experience. Upon walking in, I was greeted by the staff and Alexus immediately went to work on my toe polish change. Upon here arrival, Ashlyn went head and soaked off and drilled my current set off. Once she was complete and Sydney was ready to apply the acrylic, I switched chairs. Sydney did a fantastic job on the application and shaping of my nails. Ashlyn did some filing and polishing as well on my set. She was very patient, took the time to listen to my concerns, and made great recommendations. If you don't have an appointment, I recommend calling before you head in. Only Chhaya was there on Saturday midday and she asked me to come after 12:30 because she'd be tied up in appointments until then. The salon itself is clean and she wore a mask the entire time. You can pay--including tip--on credit card. Threading cost $11. My old salon offered aloe, post-service, which was not offered here. But I live closeby enough that it was no big deal to apply some when I got home. It hurt about the amount that I expected and no bleeding, cuts, etc. It's great that they also have a punch card system. Happy to have found my go-to spot for threading!
