Today he expertly adjusted my daughter's glasses and then, without batting an eye, swapped the lenses in two pairs of same-size spectacles I had brought along. (I wanted to wear the new prescription with my old frames.) This wouldn't happen anywhere else. I broke one of the arms on my glasses and was desperate to find someone to fix them, as I had tried doing my own repair and failed miserably. I ran a quick Google search and stumbled upon this shop, which is only about 25 minutes from my house. IT WAS WORTH THE DRIVE!!!! Not only is this shop available until 8pm, but you are greeted by the nicest person ever! (Minas) He took a look at my glasses and immediately began his repairs. It took him about 25 minutes, but considering my glasses needed a new screw DRILLED into the frame, I was okay with the wait. (I helped myself to a candy bowl he has for customers during my wait). Not only was he super nice and friendly, but he was able to perform the repair. It only cost me $30 BUT 1) I never bought my glasses with him; 2) my glasses were in really bad shape, and 3) he was patient with the repair, which even he commented he thought he wouldn't be able to do, and yet, he still pulled it off! I am extremely grateful for his expertise and patience. I would 100% tell everyone to come in and get an eye exam OR come in to get your eye wear repaired. read more

I went to google looking for a place that would repaired my glasses. I came upon The Eyes Shop in Oak Park on Lake Street. I read so many great reviews and said what do I have to loose. I called on Monday May 13, got voicemail to leave a message.I hung up called back today left message got a call back took my glasses in and I walked out with my fear repaired and go my other pair glasses adjusted. Over the past 2 weeks, I was so incredibly distraught because my favorite pair of glasses broke from the frame. I spent countless hours looking for a repair shop that would be able to fix the glasses (I went to LensCrafters, Target, America's Best Eyeglasses, other independent shops in Chicago, among others) but to no avail. I even tried to do it myself by purchasing super glue and gluing the frames back together, but it also did not work. In fact, it made it worse. The broken glasses kept me up at night, and every single morning when I woke up, I felt the need to mention it to my partner, and she was equally upset. It was a family heirloom. Finally, one night, I was googling eyeglasses repair shops in Illinois, determined to find an expert that would be able to fix my broken glasses. I stumbled upon "The Eyeglass Shop" on Yelp, and read numerous reviews about a gentleman named Minas Spourdalakis having the "Midas Touch" when it comes to fixing the worst of broken eyeglasses. I saw that the shop was located in Oak Park (a 55 minute drive from Chicago), but after further conversation with my partner, we decided that the 50-minute trek was going to be worth it. We ventured to Oak Park, finding the eyeglass shop hidden in the Med Center, next to a Starbucks and a Jimmy John's. We were determined to hopefully get the glasses repaired. We met Minas at the shop, and he got to work on the glasses. We waited about an hour. After an hour of his steadiness, labor of love, and expertise, we witnessed the "Minas Touch," as he proudly displayed the repair. That totally made our entire day, and and we were so thankful for his efforts. He also only charged us $38 for this miraculous repair, miraculous because we were told "no" by so many other shops. In addition, he cleaned the glasses for us, and gave us a case. This was most definitely the "Minas Touch," served with a side order of kindness and warmth. My late father's RayBan Aviators sunglasses which have great sentimental value to me needed some repair and adjustment. One of the lenses would constantly pop out, frames were bent, temple joint was loose and the nose pads were all broken.
