Dr Frame was very nice and thorough, and he put my daughter at ease during the exam. However, the two ladies on staff in front of shop were aloof and minimally helpful. Next to no help in selecting frames, and so cold in contrast to their demeanor with other customers. We didn't get a printed receipt or prescription, as the staff seemed intent on rushing us out of the store, despite our attempts to be friendly, there being no other customers and the store not due to close for another 90 minutes. We will not return nor would I recommend Family Eye Care. read more

I usually hate buying new glasses because I feel that it's like buying medical equipment from a car salesman. And usually you end up paying way more than you wanted. This clinic was very different! The two women up front were very straight forward and I knew exactly what I would be paying. They were friendly and polite, and they also helped me find frames that I'm very happy with. Also, they have a separate section for budget frames so I didn't have to sort through overpriced frames to find what I could afford. The doctor was friendly and efficient. His equipment is updated, so he doesn't need to be near the patient for too long- which helps with COVID nerves. He can control the prescription machine remotely, giving the patient a bit of space. He also was a reciprocal friendly chatter, which I liked because I like having conversations when I'm at an appointment. Overall, I will definitely be going back and taking the other members of my family. I'm glad I found this eye clinic! read more

Thoroughly excellent care all around. I was sent here by a friend and I am so grateful she recommended Dr. Frame as I've lived in Oak Park for 20 years but never knew about this practice. Exam was very thorough and the results so helpful as I was given a new prescription that immediately improved my vision. I didn't get a pair of purple frames- my usual style! -but I do love my cool blue ones. Danish, I think. Really stylish. I bought contacts and glasses and love both. I was extremely pleased with the professionalism of this office. The clerks at the front desk, Melissa and Christina, were amazing! They were patient, friendly, efficient, and walked me through the process with a pleasant, genuine demeanor. With so many eyeglass frames to choose from, I was confused and a little overwhelmed. But, Melissa helped me pick the perfect glasses, within my budget, and I love them! (I get compliments all the time.) Let's not forget the Doctor. Dr. Frame was great. He explained the Exam process to me and answered all of the questions I had ready for him. I was out of there in less than an hour, yet, I felt as if I had a thorough, comprehensive visit. I am very particular about my eyewear. I have been told I have a petite face so I wanted to be certain about the glasses I selected. The staff was very kind and patient with me while browsing their selection. They have a wide variety of styles for all different tastes. Till this date, I have never written a negative review for any business. However, after my interaction today with the two receptionists/nursing assistants at Family Eye Care of Elmwood Park, I am compelled to rate this facility poorly. I purchased a voucher for $250 worth of designer prescription sunglasses and eyeglasses in June, 2011. The voucher clearly stated that there is no expiration date. When I went in late this afternoon to collect the value of my voucher, the receptionist refused to honor the agreement. She simply refused to accept it. I asked why she wouldn't accept a valid voucher. She merely said that the voucher was purchased in 2011. She relented that although it is a legitimate, active voucher, I should try to get my money reimbursed from dealfind (website through which I purchased the voucher) instead. Her mannerism were cold, mechanical and uncivil. I pointed out to her that I made a full hour long journey to pay her facility a visit. She paid me a perfunctory apology but refused to let me see the doctor. I was willing to wait for hours in order to see the doctor but she told me to leave the premise. I requested a written letter stating that Family Eye care refused to accept the valid dealfind voucher. She refused to give me anything in writing. I was extremely dissatisfied with the customer service. Family Eye Care of Elmwood Park is a profit-oriented business that employs morally fraudulent practices to rob deserving patients/customers. If you would like a facility that values patient care and satisfaction, I would recommend you to go elsewhere. read more

Needed an eye exam and looked on Yelp for one close and this place showed up and I'm glad it did. The two assistants at the front, I'm sorry I can't remember their names, were both extremely helpful not only with getting checked in, but helping with my glasses selection. Dr. Frame was beyond nice and asked tons of questions to make me feel comfortable. He explained to me everything he was doing and why and I felt super comfortable taking his advice. Christina is a God-send. She was so patient, understanding and quite knowledgeable when my Health Insurance and it's vision coverage sort of abandoned me in my hour of discomfort and need. She was consistent in helping me to navigate through the continual denial of vision coverage from my insurance and stuck it out for over 3 weeks of multiple phone calls, conference calls and alternative ways to get the care I needed. Although I was not able to visit, because of the of my stupid insurance, I was so glad for her patience through the longer-than-normal phone calls, the wisdom, the knowledge of this industry and her eye care is absolutely genuine. First time at this location and not disappointing at all, the front desk was very professional and thorough in assisting me with my question from price range to estimated wait period you name it they hit it. Dr. Frame is one of the few I have dealt with that I would highly recommend, broke down everything to me to where I understood the information and was pleased when walking out knowing I was not in the dark when it came to my eyes. Dr. Frame is excellent. He is thorough and professional. He is also patient with my young children when I need to bring them to my eye appt. I try to schedule my appt for a time when I can come solo, but it is nice to know that I can bring them (with their silent activities) if needed. Dr. Frame is knowledgeable and I would definitely recommend him, but it might be costly if you don't have insurance and need a full exam. You can ask for their costs ahead of time. I am a little uncomfortable looking at frames with the office staff (like it's a sales thing) and the prices are a little high in my opinion. But they will give you your prescription if you ask and you can shop around. They do have a nice selection of frames and accept my insurance, so I might end up returning and getting my frames there anyway. It's just nice to know what's out there and not feel rushed to make a decision, which they understand. I highly recommend him. Little to no wait time. Ease in scheduling.
