I went to Eyes Rite after seeing a great deal on Groupon (my eyes are awful, glasses are usually a fortune). Dr Nancy Prybylo was super kind and patient; made solid recommendations with no "hard sell" The office manager (can't recall name, so sorry, I only asked like 10 times) was SO helpful in picking out new frames. Can't post pic now because I look like I haven't slept in 10 years but everyone LOVES them and I can *gasp* SEE clearly again! I live a little far from Oak Park but well worth 30-40 min drive. Not a great experience at this optometrist's office. November 2019 I was discouraged from using my own eye wear and their eye wear selection was grim and bleak for lack of a better term. The assistant/clerk was rude. And they over charged for services and products. Worst of all I was given the wrong script and after paying way more than I should have for a pair of readers. I ended up going some place else and received much better treatment. I also received the proper prescription for both my readers and my regular prescription lenses complete with compassion and professionalism that included me being able to use my own frames at a much reasonable price. read more

I became a patient of Dr. Nancy's when I was in Junior High. The first time I came to Nancy's office I was rocking some hideous, "coke-bottle", glasses and had no delusions of ever being able to wear contacts. All of the optometrists my mother had taken me to in the past informed us that my strabismus wouldn't allow for anything but thick lenses. Thanks to Dr. Nancy, by the time I was at my eighth grade graduation I was rocking contact lenses and had a pair of glasses with "normal" looking lenses at home for when I felt like wearing them. Dr. Nancy is well informed and up to date on research in the field of ophthalmology. She is happy to answer any questions that I may have (I tend to ask a lot of medical questions because I am a biological scientist). Years later, I now take my daughter to see Dr. Nancy and am willing to drive from my work in Evanston to Oak Park during rush hour. It's worth the trouble because Dr Nancy and her fantastic staff (Anya is so helpful and kind!) are amazing! read more

Dr. Nancy Prybylo was very friendly and thorough, more so than any other optometrist that I've seen. When I eventually received my glasses, the prescription was spot-on, a noticeable improvement on my last pair purchased through a big chain (even when that pair was brand new). The staff person, Raelyn, was very forthright in helping me select frames. She freely offered critical but polite advice on a variety of frames and, when pushed, elaborated further on why she advised for and against different frames and frame styles. I really am more knowledgeable now about how and why frame shapes and styles affect the overall impression. Having said that, after 2-3 visits with my wife to look at frames and have our eyes examined, Raelyn didn't agree with me on the frames I finally settled on; at that point, she should have kept her opinion to herself rather than continue to offer critiques and try to persuade me to go with a different style. If I was just rating Eyes Rite on service received up to this point from Dr. Prybylo and Raelyn, I'd give a 4 or 5 star rating. Unfortunately, it took 8+ weeks and 3+ return visits before the right frames were delivered and with the right prescription. I was given a variety of excuses as to why the frames were late, some of which conflicted with each other. I understand that there were issues with the lab that does their lenses (they are not done in-house), but that doesn't fully explain the long series of problems. (Ironically, one of the frames that was supplied by mistake was the set Raelyn had recommended -- and I really hated them when I saw them on my face with the proper prescription lenses in place.) Also, biling was ultimately confusing and problematic on its own. Even though we provided all of the insurance information needed and paid our portion of the bills, we were later hounded by another person affiliated with Eyes Rite to give them the same information and additional info over and over again. (Have you ever had a stranger you've never met call you from an unrecognized phone number and demand that you provide your SSN over the phone, talk down to you as if you were a child, and threaten to send you a bill for an unreimbursed insurance claim?) After studying our itemized bills later, I also noticed that the breakdown of materials and add-ons was only sketchily provided and I never could see why it added up the way it did or how much was covered by my insurance. Plus, I have two different types of insurance, and it seems that they submitted the claim to a different company than they initially told me. I am really left wondering if I ended up paying more than I could or should have. I just don't know. Bottom line: you probably won't have as many problems with Eyes Rite as I did. It's an independent shop, and if you don't mind rolling the dice, you might have a great experience there. read more

Do not purchase the Groupon that they are offering. It is total switch & bait. The Groupon is VERY misleading! The offer said "$39 for a Complete Eye Exam Plus $150 Toward Eyeglasses ($275 Total Value)" When I called to schedule an eye exam, they said an eye exam is $89 and IF i need glasses then I can apply the Groupon towards glasses and the exam. I've been to two other eye doctors in Oak/Forest Park and either the doctor is good but glasses selection/customer service is bad or vice-versa. Eyes Rite has a great eye doctor, staff and glasses selection for both myself and my 8 year old. Rae Lyn was tremendous in helping me pick out frames and billing my insurance and the eye doc seemed to really care about my sons eye health. They have great store hours as well! Two thumbs up!! Dr Nancy is the best eye doctor I've ever been to! She is knowledgeable and friendly. I was going elsewhere in the area before finding her. I never felt that I was seeing my best through my glasses/contacts. Everyone else I had gone to basically brushed me off saying the prescriptions were correct. When I had my first visit with Dr Nancy she listened to my complaint and told me to not wear my contacts for a couple of weeks (I was pretty bad at having them in too much/long). She had explained before doing the exam she wanted my eyes to breath to have less swelling. Sure enough when I had come back, I was in the wrong prescription and because she took the time to assess my situation she got me in the right prescription and able to see better again! :) read more

Dr. Nancy is extremely kind and helped me deal with my poorly performed Lasik surgery. She gave me possible treatments to help in a permanent way where my Lasik business (I refuse to call them surgeons) was satisfied to have me taking eye drops six times per day for the rest of my life and had no solution for the halos, starbursts, and after-images I had. If this was before your time, research the show and you will know and feel the meaning of family doctor. She is truly a doctor from the days gone by. Dr. Nancy remembers all your family members and inquires about their well being. My mother passed 7 years ago and Dr. Nancy still reminisces when mother came for her visits. The staff in the glasses shop are knowledgeable about glasses and very helpful with insurance. HOWEVER: They're hardly ever there! The hours on the sign in their window and on their own website are not really the hours that they're open. You have to call ahead of time and ask whether they're going to be open at the time you'd like to stop in, and hope that the person answering the phone actually has the right information. We just tried to go in to order glasses for my kids today and yet again, they're closed even though their website says they'd be open. Suffice it to say that was the last time we'll be going to Eyes Rite. read more

This is as good it gets when it comes to service that's PERSONAL and let's face it, we're talking about your frikkin EYES here so do you really want to get impersonal service when it comes to your vision? Dr. Nancy is kind, friendly, unhurried and thorough. Every time I visit I feel like I'm the only person she has to take care of that day. Raelynn at the front desk is equally kind and efficient and knows who you are even when you call on the phone. (See of that ever happens when you call your Pearle or Amerca's Best.) Now as far as prices... ok not gonna lie, you're not going to find any 2 pairs for $69 dollars including exam kinds of deals here and frankly, I'm ok with that. After being suckered into countless numbers of those kinds of deals and dealing with crappy glasses that break after a month or I can't see out of (or both) I'm done. It's quality over quantity now and I'm ok with that. The selection of frames isn't what I'd call vast, but I've always been able to find something I like every time. I usually never write reviews but my experience here at Eyes Rite deserves the glowing review I am about to give. It began with making my appointment. I called in and, not even knowing my insurance, Annia was able to help me. She found a time that worked with my schedule and helped me figure out what insurance plan I had (VSP). I came in for my appointment and met the the most AMAZING Dr. Nancy. She was thorough and answered every question I had for her. She is the most caring and personable doctor I have ever been to and she will have me as a patient for life!! Next came Ashley. She was the optician there and helped me pick out the perfect pair of glasses for my face. It was refreshing how honest she was, which helped because I didn't bring anyone to help tell me if I looked like a fool in any pair of glasses. She was very knowledgeable regarding my insurance and explained every copay that I had. It is rare nowadays to find a doctor and staff that actually cares for you and I am glad that I found them.
