I'm not even going to sugarcoat it. The girls here have no clue what they're talking about. I run a fairly large Korean beauty blog so you could say I have a LOT of products...as in enough to fill at least a corner of this store. The girls here don't know what they're selling, they blatantly lie about the products, and they follow darker minorities like they're going to steal.
This was my least favorite experience by far due to the sales associate. The store is located in a convenient strip mall location with free parking, next to a kpop/cute Japanese gift store. The store is quite large, bright, and clean with kpop music again over the speakers. I was not greeted immediately upon walking in, though I was followed around. I cannot explain how much I hate being followed around like I'm going to steal something. As a minority, I have experienced this before and Korean shops in particular make me feel like they are watching to make sure I don't steal something based on my appearance as I have been followed around and shadowed while typical light-skinned East Asians and white customers were graciously greeted and left alone until they had questions.
I was really irritated at this shop because I didn't have any questions, having been to a Face Shop before, but the store girl decided to follow me around and suggest a bunch of products I didn't want to try (because I've had samples of it or I've tried it before at other Face Shops).
I had one question about the composition of their feminine cleanser which is a liquid to foam cleanser (no English label), and the girl tried to tell me that all Korean feminine cleansers are the same after I told her I liked a Danahan feminine wash. Ummm NOPE--the Danahan one is lactic acid based and gel textured, so no they are not even close. She also tried to convince me that a BB cream 2 shades too light for me already was my color, and that it is Korean makeup style to be too light in the face so it's okay. After telling her I just got here the day before and was pale from living in Alaska therefore I'd be getting much darker, she tried to convince me no I wouldn't get darker from living in Hawaii and that I was already light-skinned. As someone who has been myself for ummm I don't know--MY WHOLE LIFE, this really irritated me. I have already gotten 2-3 shades darker to the point that I can't wear half of my lighter BB creams anymore, in just the week I've been here (I went on Monday before I started going out in the sun). She also kept pushing other products on me that I didn't want to know about (dry skin products, lipstick colors that wouldn't show up on me, CC creams made for light pink undertones) and virtually everything in the store was fair game to her.
I tried testing her to see if she recommended products I knew to be bad and she would lie and make up whatever she thought I wanted to hear. If I asked her if a moisture line was for oily skin she would tell me it was for oily skin when it was clearly for dry skin, even when it said it in English on the label. Apparently all of their products are popular and just like other brands I like (-rolling my eyes-).
Basically the whole time she wouldn't leave me alone and was just desperate to sell things. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth. Prices are a few dollars more marked up, but not too bad. Makeup testers are in better shape than the ones I saw in San Francisco, but I still wouldn't touch everything. I was given a good amount of samples of products, though some I already told her I didn't want to try (the CC Cream which is oily, not in my color, and I already have a deluxe size from their other store). Thankfully the rest of the samples seemed okay plus a free sheet mask. I give Face Shop a good sample rating, however--
I give this a fairly negative rating due to the employee's behavior, and to be honest I'd prefer to go to another location if they are going to be dishonest like that and desperately lie to sell a product they know nothing about. read more
