We came for an early early dinner (kids!) so we could walk in and there were open tables but by the time we left, the place was full! As the name of the restaurant says it's a bakery as well. They showcase the different breads in their bread bar. More about that later. Let me warn you... the portions are large! I got the spinach lasagna ($23.50) which came with a salad and the bread bar. When I got the salad I was shocked to see a huge, almost entree sized salad. The lasagna had ricotta, spinach layers smothered in Alfredo sauce. It was delish but I think they can go a lot less on the sauce. It was buttery, almost too buttery as well. But it was dang good! So that bread bar... if you love bread like I do, you'll be in carb heaven. They feature different kinds of bread baked that day- there was the usual French bread but they had flavors like rosemary, garlic,black pepper and the most unusual - curry cranberry. Don't be afraid to try the different flavors. The cranberry curry ended up being my favorite. Behind the bar is where you can find the different kinds of butter and olive oil. If you want balsamic vinegar, you'll need to ask your server. Sadly I gorged on the bread and couldn't eat my meal. My daughter ordered the HALF order of Seafood Louie ($20.80). When it came to the table, we burst out laughing because the thing was full entree sized where we come from. It was chock full of fried calamari, huge grilled prawns, little bay shrimp and an egg. She had a hard time finding a starting place to take the first bite without it spilling over. She really like the thousand island dressing too. My suggestion is to get it on the side to add as you work your way down. Mussels & Clams ($15.50) was also a hit- big and plump and the broth went perfectly with bread. The kids buttered noodles ($5.75) were good but it was kind of swimming in butter. They could've used half the amount. But the noodles were nice and al dente. Service was great and very accommodating- a big shout out to Jesus! FYI, a tip of 18% is automatically added to the bill with option to add. If we're ever back in Omak, we're definitely returning! Could it have been worse?…read more Poor food can sometimes be overlooked if a restaurant has ambience and a helpful waitstaff; poor service can be overlooked if the food is superb; and a rattletrap shack can be the place where the food and friendliness make for a memorable evening. But when all three - food, ambience and service fail at the same time, the memories are more akin to those memories that cause one to go to therapists. My husband and I decided to go to this restaurant while on an anniversary trip to the Methow Valley. It had been recommended to us by some of the local people we met. Both of us like Mexican food, and neither of us are picky eaters or restaurant snobs. Upon entering, we asked what the wait would be for a table next to the windows. We were told about 30 minutes. About 30 minutes later, we were escorted to our table, which was not near a window but had a wall with an old poster on it and was in a dark corner. We were told that this was all that was available and that we would have to wait much longer for any other table or booth. OK. We can deal with that. However, about 5 minutes later, two people were escorted to a table with a nice window view (they had come in 10 minutes after us and had no reservations either). The waiter brought us a menu and before I even had a chance to open it he asked us if we were ready to order. We said no, that we needed a couple of minutes. He took our drink order (Ice tea and strawberry lemonade). After about 15 minutes, he came back. I asked which entrees were not too spicy. He indicated that they were all spicy, that they all had jalapenos or other hot peppers. This was clearly not the case, but he kept insisting that everything I picked out was spicy. When I read him the ingredients for the carne asada, he agreed that there were no spices or peppers. I ordered the steak fajitas. Another 10 minutes or so passed before they brought us the salsa and chips, which were quite welcome, because we had been seated for at least 25 minutes with nothing. The salsa was very, very bland. After waiting about another 30 minutes our food came - sort of. The waiter brought out my husband's food and the rice and fillings for my fajitas. A few minutes later, he brought out the tortillas. I asked him where the hot skillet of sizzling meat was, and he then told me that they had fallen on the kitchen floor. I asked him how much longer it would be until the prepared a new platter, and he replied that it would be 5-10 minutes. I asked him to take my rice and my husband's food back to the kitchen to keep it warm, and he seemed totally confused by the request. He didn't take my husband's food back, but after much discussion he took my fillings plate back. It would have been nice if he had taken my husband's plate back too, because it was already fairly lukewarm when he served it. As he said, in about 10 minutes my plate of fajitas showed up. Normally the waiter tells you to be careful with the hot plate, but in this case, the waiter never mentioned anything, and it was easy to determine why, because the skillet was lukewarm as was the food. The platter was piled high with onions and green and red peppers, but the meat was sparse and hard to find in the onion-pepper mound. The fajitas seemed to have no seasoning whatsoever. I had to ask specially for the guacamole. The pico de gallo had no flavor; the rice had no flavor. The refried beans came in a very small cup, and also had a runny/watery flavor. The little corn muffin was tasty, the only thing that had any flavor whatsoever. No waiter ever came by our table again. No one asked if I wanted more iced tea (also tasted like it was prepared from a mix); nobody asked if we wanted dessert; nobody asked if we were happy with our meals. If you crave bland Mexican food served lukewarm by clueless waiters in a setting that is more shacklike than rustically charming, and enjoy paying a lot of money for onions and peppers rather than meat; if you can do without refills in your ice tea or other drinks, then this place is for you. As for me and my husband, this was definitely our last visit to this establishment.
