I was in town to visit a friend and awoke early, so rather than making a bunch of noise in their small house, I meandered downtown with my laptop and discovered Rocking Horse. I ordered a delish white mocha, nommed on a freshly baked muffin, and topped it off with a personal-sized pan of their incredibly tasty quiche. What put this place at the top of my coffee list, though, was the impeccable service. So friendly, and so welcoming - even as the early morning line of customers grew and grew. I will definitely be back!

And their Black Colt cold brew is to die for (they started selling this in 2015). Every time I'm in Winthrop and I try and get my hands on that. When Lariat is closed I can often grab it at the Mazama Store, but I prefer to go to the warehouse because it smells so divine. PS: You can buy Black Colt by the growler! Lariat remains one of our favorite things about Winthrop.

The eating area needs some additional ambience, it feels cold and not inviting as others. There is a nice retail area but very little branded retail items. Don't think sitting outside is the answer, with a huge parking area and NO asphalt or dust spray added, makes it just too dusty to enjoy your morning coffee or visit with friends. Fantastic service from everyone up front. Everyone is doing their job it appears. The restrooms are very clean. They lost one star because of the parking lot and latte sizes.

One thing they need to figure out is for the beer only customers. Why can't I order at the bar? Why do I need to wait for a server that takes my order and then I wait 20 minutes while they get everyone's drinks at once? I would've walked out and left but I already felt invested enough to see it through. Please fix this for other customers so they don't have a bad experience.
