I do not agree with their 3.5 star rating. They have a great location right next to the water, plenty of seating outside and good beer. One thing they need to figure out is for the beer only customers. Why can't I order at the bar? Why do I need to wait for a server that takes my order and then I wait 20 minutes while they get everyone's drinks at once? I would've walked out and left but I already felt invested enough to see it through. Please fix this for other customers so they don't have a bad experience. read more

The service was terrible. The sign said seat yourself, all 7 of us sat ourselves down and pushed 2 smaller tables together because there wasn't bigger seating. About 10 minutes later the server came and asked us 7 adults to move to one table that CLEARLY wasnt big enough for everyone. It was frustrating because we had followed the restaurants seat yourself policy. When we asked to speak to someone about, the manager came already with an extremely rude attitude towards my 80 year old grandmother who was just looking forward to watching the soccer game. read more

This place is a vibe tho, if you drink you can sit by the river and hang out. Food is okay, we got their burger and chicken wings-hard to beat. It is a very small town that is getting ran over by the social media blow out. 8 even 3 years ago there were less people and things were more possible. This place was packed when we went in around 5:30 pm Lots of tables including several in the back room which has a fireplace and is a little quieter than the front. I cannot comment on the bar drinks since I didn't have any but Anya, the waitperson, brought us large glasses of water as soon as we sat down. She was very prompt and checked back with us a couple of times as we read the menu and decided on our meals. We both ordered the hamburgers and the person I was with asked for bacon, crisp and the burger meat to be well cooked. I also ordered a small salad and it was a good amount with pepita seeds and sautéed chickpeas. I received a healthy amount of waffle fries with my burger and the other person asked for standard fries. The cooks, Marty and Roman, did an excellent job getting out order up quickly and they made the burger with the bacon crisp and the meat very well done, exactly as my companion asked for. Their comment was that it was the best burger AND fries they had eaten in quite a while. Mine was also delicious, but I couldn't finish the burger, fries, and salad and took some salad to go. A favorite stop winter, summer or fall usually after some kind of fun outdoor activity. We especially enjoy stopping in after a winter day of cross country skiing. We usually have a lot of company. It's a fun pub atmosphere with quality beer and simple food, mostly burgers, salads and sandwiches. Cool spot in a cool town (old Wild West themed). It was getting hot out and we decided to duck in for some air conditioning and cold beer. It was right around lunch time and they were busy, but we found a seat and proceeded to the bar to place our order. We ordered a flight of beer to try some different styles. The bartender was great, even though she was busy.. I didn't have to wait long. The beers were good and the old schoolhouse motif was cool. We stopped in for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was fairly crowded but it took quite a while to be acknowledged by anyone. Once we ordered it took about 45 minutes to get our food which seemed long. My husband got the steak sandwich and I got the Reuben. Both had good flavor but not very much meat. For $18 neither came with fries so we did order the garlic waffle fries on the side to split but we couldn't see or taste any garlic. Decided to have dinner here on Wednesday night on the patio and had a lovely time. Since the deck was packed and about to get even fuller with a wedding party, our server asked if we wouldn't mind joining another couple. We quickly agreed and met a a great couple who were taking a month long tour of the west coast. Our server was fabulous, everyone enjoyed their meal and the ambiance was magical. I guess the only less-than a-complimentary thing I could say about the place is that you need to be a beer drinker as they don't serve hard liquor. Old School Brewery is in a convenient spot midway through town. It nails the aesthetic and the river flowing out back is an added bonus. We stopped by on a Friday afternoon and received prompt service. After relaxing with some house made root beers our food arrived; the steelhead sandwich and the chicken caprese. Both were excellent. We also added two orders of fries, which were also very good. Our total came to $67 with a tip, which is a bit steep for a sandwich lunch. For around $20 per sandwich OSB should be providing fries WITH the meal instead of charging an additional $2 Overall, a bit unreasonably priced, but the food was worth the stop. read more

It would be nice if the "waitress" told you when she seated you that you needed to order from the bar. We waited to be seated like the sign said, got sat by a worker, sat for 10 minutes, got brought water and she turned and walked away. When we flagged her down 10 minutes later (giving her the benefit of the doubt because it was busy), she pulled out the laminated sign from where the menus were kept at the table that said "all orders must be placed with the bartender." Had we known that (as in it was communicated with us) we would have gladly walked to the bar and ordered. This cute little restaurant sits on the river, we set on the back patio lower deck and enjoyed the view. I ordered the Arrow Amber and it was a well crafted beer, and the Fish and Chips was probably the best I've ever had. Fresh Pacific Cod, battered in ale and panko breading, perfectly fried and crispy served with garlic fries that were on point! The Old Schoolhouse brewery gets an 'A' in my grade book. Stopped in on a chilly fall evening, we sat at the bar. As everyone mentioned the beers are top notch. If you're looks for a nosh as well you must get the giant pretzel. An A+++. Quite possibly the best soft pretzel I've ever had. Soft, buttery and just the right amount of salt. It comes with a beer cheese sauce, which is also incredible but IMHO enjoy it plain with good beer and that's all you need. We also tried the gyro - hoping it would be a surprisingly good. I love a good gyro. Unfortunately, this one didn't blow my mind. Grade B. Bar staff was really friendly and kept our glasses full. This is an easy place to recommend in wonderful Winthrop. read more

A pretty standard little brew pub, but when in Winthrop, it's the place to go. They have a variety of beers and ales, as well as a rotating cider or two, great sweet potato fries (an order of fries is enough for 3 or 4 people), and the usual variety of pub food (burgers, etc.). You can eat inside, on the porch out back (well ventilated and with heaters available) or in domes on the ground below (reservations required for the domes). In short, tailor your seating choice to your COVID exposure risk. It's not fancy, but it's solid and the best in town in my opinion. read more

OMG that was the absolute worst fish & chips I've ever had. I almost broke a tooth! The fish was covered with a hard, brittle coating of salt and super stale breadcrumbs, all microwaved to a brittle finish. The fish was hard to find in there too. And I was just bragging to our guests how good OSB's fish and chips were, and I came away thoroughly embarrassed. The beer was good, but the waitress literally disappeared from the dining room after taking our order. My wife had to get our beers from the bar. The waitress never came by to ask if we wanted more beer, whether the food was good, nothing. Oh, and the outdoor seating was closed, which sucked, because it would have been a great evening to eat by the river. I'm never going back.
