There is a pattern of poor communication, lack of accountability, and broken promises. I was told I had a work study position, but later found out through staff that the program had been eliminated, with no direct communication to me. I was still being led on as if I would be starting soon. A former work study student also told me they were pressured to break their contract. Students, including those on Honor Roll and Dean's List, have been threatened for interacting with staff who genuinely care about their well being. Multiple staff members have left, and despite complaints, nothing has been addressed. I originally left a 5 star review because we were constantly pushed to leave reviews daily. That said, many staff members are great. The dean is supportive, Ms. Karen in HVAC career services truly cares, financial aid is helpful, and the HVAC instructors bring real world experience. The school has potential, but leadership needs serious improvement. I enjoyed it at first, but the environment changed.

Ms. Burt corrects and teaches the new drivers when they need it, but she does not yell or cause stress. Ms. Burt makes a point to teach the new drivers about defensive driving too. Ms. Burt just "gets" teenagers. She converses with them and puts them at ease and it is not an awkward or boring driving session. The car Ms. Burt used for the teaching was clean and in great condition. She has the appropriate signage on the car to alert others on the road of a new driver. It was a 4 door sedan and my daughter was very comfortable learning in that car, even though she had never driven a sedan before. It was very easy to schedule and RVA Driving Academy was very responsive. Ms. Burt worked with us via text to schedule driving times around busy a school and after school activity schedule. It was quick and easy to get on her calendar. We got all 7 sessions done in just over a week. My daughter enjoyed her time in the car with Ms. Burt and when she "graduated" from Behind The Wheel she told me a few days later that she missed not having more time driving with Ms. Burt.
