We're new to the area as we recently bought a vacation home in Frankin Twp. A neighbor of ours recommended this place, so we stopped in on our way back home downstate to try it. For starters, we had a fantastic server! Very friendly & helpful. I got their roll up sandwich with turkey, lettuce, swiss cheese & I added onions. The turkey was flavorful & not reminiscent of a lunchmeat style turkey. The wrap was slightly on the dry side, but definitely still edible & tasty. However, they forgot to put swiss cheese on it, which I pointed out to our server who reinterated that cheese was supposed to be on thte sandwich. She took 10% off our bill, which I told her she didn't have to do that, as I still enjoyed the sandwich, eating the entire thing. My husband got their grilled ham & cheese with fries, which he said was very tasty. He chose their white bread, which from my understanding, their bread is homemade. Now, I want to talk about their baked goods, which definitely deserve to be mentioned. They have dinner rolls, which were reminiscent of those dinner rolls you used to get at Chinese restaurants. WELL, those dinner rolls are also homemade AND taste just like the ones at Chinese restaurants, with that touch of sweetness flavor. You can get either a half dozen (or a dozen, I can't remember) for $9 & let me just tell you, they're well worth it! They had pies & cakes, which I didn't try, but I did get a half dozen of their, also homemade, cookies. $9 & change for six ginormous cookies, all of which were fantastic!! Looking forward to returning for breakfast & dinner, as I hear their fish is fabulous! read more

I cannot recommend the coconut cream pie enough. I ordered it as a carry out and it could hardly fit in the pie box! The pie was HUGE and has to weigh at least 4# it tasted amazing. We dined in for breakfast and the bus it's and gravy was a huge portion and very good along with the chicken sandwich and fries! They're menu has a lot of options so you should absolutely stop in. read more

Soggy fries, mangled grilled cheese, burned and greasy tortilla chips with my burrito. My family ate here a month ago and it was terrific. Tonight...dreadful. I waited the better part of an half hour for a hamburger and French fries. I was about to leave when it finally arrived. The hamburger that came is pictured. It was a 1/3 pound with cheddar cheese, tomato, lettuce, and onion. I want to point out that the cheese isn't cheddar and the lettuce/tomato is something that you pay seventy-five cents for---they aren't worth that. The burger was supposed to be medium-well and it was well done/almost burnt. Additionally, you pay $1.59 for the French fries. If you get any like the dark ones, they are leftovers from past orders---how far in the past I don't know. I have recently been to two restaurants owned by the same people and there are a couple others. I will not be trying any of the others. This is a big skip. read more

A favorite breakfast spot of ours. Nothing fancy; just good food at a reasonable price, with fast and professional service. I also appreciate their ability to cook eggs to order (not always a reliable assumption these days, especially for those of us who like ours over easy or sunny-side up) and their honoring of special requests -- dry toast, soft bacon, extra-crispy potatoes, etc. The only thing I find less than great is the TV; I know televisions have become a ubiquitous fixture of most restaurants these days, but to me they're annoying and unnecessary. Update: We tried dinner here for the first time, on a whim...again, there's nothing sophisticated on the menu, but boy, was it good! It was a Friday night, so seafood was spotlighted; I ordered broiled walleye while my partner ordered beer-battered shrimp. My walleye was so buttery-good, and my two pieces were so large, that I resigned myself to the fact that it probably wasn't as healthy as I thought it would be -- but I still ate every crumb. My partner's shrimp was remarkably good as well; usually beer-battered food all tastes the same to me, but this coating had some sort of pleasantly onion-y/herb-y seasoning in it, and you could also really taste the hoppy flavor of the beer. Dinners here come with a soup and salad bar. This evening the featured soups included a very good clam chowder; while the base to me suggested that it had started out in a can it had obviously been amended with big chunks of redskin potatoes and bacon, and it was a lot better than the usual cafeteria-quality chowder. The salad bar is pretty modest as far as fresh veg -- no fancy baby greens, and some other standards like mushrooms were missing -- but the restaurant offers several prepared salads, and a couple of surprises like pickled chicken gizzards. (I tend to enjoy organ meats and didn't shirk from sampling a gizzard; I found it kind of "meh," too cold and without enough seasoning in the pickling liquid -- I'd have jazzed them up with some bay leaf and peppercorns and such). The restaurant was packed, which was good to see in this area in these economic times. Service was very prompt and courteous. read more

We went here once. It was acceptable food, but I wouldn't say it was a standout. I don't really understand all the great ratings, except that none of the restaurants in Gladwin seem to be very good. Visited family in Meredith Mi and they took us to this quaint place. The place is very cute inside. The food we had was excellent. Huge bowls of soup with a salad before the chicken strip dinner came. The strips were like small breasts and so tasty. We live down in Waterford Mi and cannot wait to go back to this eatery. read more

It's a local family restaurant. The food is so so. The wait staff nice. Its an average place for an average area. The issue is at times, you wait for 30 minutes for a simple bacon, eggs order even when there is like 10 people in the whole restaurant. The bathrooms would be better if the combined the two tiny bathrooms into one unisex bathroom that was handicapped accessible. OH. and NO Wireless internet. Sad face! read more

Had breakfast omelets and hashbrowns. Omelets were very good, hash browns were okay (i favor homeade) decor was nice and service was great. Restaurant charges a dollar to share a plate which is quite sad since this is how many seniors afford to eat out and they should be happy to just have the business. 1 star deducted for the "share the plate" charge. read more

This is most definitely the worst food I have EVER tasted. I had a BLT that took 22 minutes to get then the bacon was very undercooked, the lettuce was limp and the tomato was mealy!!! My husband had a philly steak sandwich and the steak was full of grizzle and the bun was full of grease. The waitress was pleasant but overall I will NEVER come here again! Literally the worst service I've ever had. We walked in & a waitress told us to sit wherever we'd like. We picked a nearby booth & the waitress seemed FURIOUS to have to serve us. She was rude to us from the minute we sat down. She didn't speak a word to us after she took our order - this is not even an exaggeration. She didn't ask us how our meal was or if we'd like dessert. She laid the check down on the table & walked away. She didn't thank us or tell us to have a good day after we paid. She did, however, talk loudly around us about how she was leaving at 2 & couldn't wait to get out (it was coming close to 2). The other waitresses talked loudly about how much their car payments were & how much more they needed to earn to make the payment. The food was pretty good, but the service was so horrible we'll never go back. read more

Horrible place! Don't go there unless you want to be ignored. Bad service - we just went there for lunch and they gave us drinks, but after half an hour they still had not taken our order for lunch. We experienced terrible service the last two times we tried to eat here. The first time we arrived around 1:00 p.m. and the lunch crowd had thinned out. We orderd the coney dog special and waited and waited and waited. At least we had drinks. At 1:50 we told them our order needed to be to go since we had an appointment at 2:15 five minutes away.Last week we decided to give them a second try. We arrived after 2:00 p.m., well after the lunch crowd and there may have been 8 people in the restaurant. We sat down in clear view of the wait staff. And sat and sat and sat. No menu, no water, no hello, no drink order. The wait staff clearned tables around us and we sat watching. I even caugh the eye of a waitress but she ignored us. After 15 minutes we left. Previous to these 2 visits we had had success being waited on and being served in an acceptable time frame. The food is ok and the specials are reaonably priced. Don't eat here if you expect to be waited on and served in a timely manner. read more
