On our day of leaving Frankenmuth, we were looking for a lunch spot before leaving town. I came across this nice diner and decided to give it a try. The decor is top-notch. It makes you feel like you're back in the 1950s. I found that the wait staff was friendly, but seemingly overworked at times. The milkshake and onion rings were amazing, but the burger, unfortunately sort of fell flat. The burger patty had the consistency of one of those frozen patties that you would get from Sam's club. The bun itself was interesting. It seemed to be lightly toasted, but without the richness of a brioche bun. although the burger was good, it seemed to be missing that grease joint feel. Halfway through the meal, the waitress remembered my milkshake and this is something not to be missed. They do have seasonal varieties however I went with a classic chocolate milkshake and was not disappointed.

Bucklist restaurant!!! The place was absolutely adorable. I won't post any pictures because everyone else already seems to have posted the interior but it's breathtaking! Went here with my family all the way from SC.The staff was so incredibly fast, sweet, and welcoming! Most of the staff was friends or family which made us want to spend more money and time there and feel safe. The atmosphere was nostalgic. Everything was super clean and well taken care of! My whole family decided to get black cherry ice cream, and it was smooth and great flavor wise! Can't wait for our 2nd trip back!! Thank you guys for adding great memories to our trip!!!

Beautiful atmosphere, food is delicious, and staff is friendly. This was our second time going to this restaurant. (We live 4 hours away) Loving the 50s feel! Would recommend

The food is hot and delicious. Fairly priced and close to most resorts in the area. I had the hangover burger and the mushroom burger. Both were perfect. I really enjoyed the decor and this old school diner took me back in time. Would recommend.

Omg! After coming to Frankenmuth for the last 30 Yrs and always driving past this place, we decided to try it since my BF loves the look of old diners like this. It does take a little bit of time to get the food, but I have to say these hand made burgers, onion rings and food is the real deal. Everything was piping hot, seasoned perfectly, great sauces for dipping and both times we dined there this past weekend, the ladies that waited on us were so genuinely nice and so excited to talk about the 83 hrs old history of a diner building from New York.... The Comet, you're on our radar now and will be a staple the 4-5 times we come to the Muth' in the future! Still have to figure out a way to reserve room in the future for one of your awesome looking sundaes!!! PS, get the Rueben with coleslaw! Yummmm!!! Super clean and immaculate inside...everything that's chrome inside sparkles and you can even wipe your finger on the light fixture above your table....not an speck of dust.... Try going to Tony's and not get a chunk of greasy dust in your food or not slipping on their grease covered tile... not here!!

    1/4 of the club sandwiche

I ordered a club sandwich and emphasized NO lettuce. My sandwich had lettuce. There was little to no salad dressing o. The sandwich which made it difficult to chew and swallow without water. The fries were superb. My grandson ordered no fries when he was asked if he wanted fries. He said no fries and our waiter repeated no fries just as he had repeated no lettuce. The ice cream shakes were 90% whipped cream. My other grandson ordered a shake and asked "where is the ice cream"? (My grandsons are not little children either and never complain about the food. They are 13 and 16) When the orders for the desserts was taken, the waiter was standing right next to me. He asked my 3 grandsons what they would like. They told him their selections and within a split second, he turned and left our table without a glance in my direction to ask if I would like anything. I could have shouted out to him, but I chose not to. After seeing the 'ice cream' that my 3 grandsons got, I was glad I didn't order anything. My hopes were too high with this cute diner. I dont live near Birch Run at all. I was in town for a birthday celebration. So its likely that I won't be returning. Please cooks/people who plate the food, pay attention to the food orders. Eating that lettuce would have sent me to the ER. Ive had to learn to not trust what restaurants serve even when you ask them to not include a particular food item.

    Amazing Ruben sandwich !

Stopped here for a quick lunch on our way up North. We are always looking for unique places with good homemade food and The Comet Classic Diner did not disappoint! First our waitress was so nice and very attentive, then the atmosphere was really fun and unique. I took the Ruben sandwich and it was AMAZING! My husband took a burger and he regretted not to take a Ruben as well. Kids loved their food especially the fries ! Definitely a nice little surprise

On our way to Bronner's CHRISTmas Store, we spotted this authentic chrome diner. Upon seeing this vintage shining beauty, flashbacks of our road trip along old Route 66 came to our minds. Upon stepping inside, we were transported back through time to an era of good food and friendly service. The shock of being sent to the 1950s via this time machine wore off quickly and since we were trapped in the past anyway, we decided to grab some lunch. This is one of, if not the best, diners we have ever visited. We are classic diner enthusiasts and have even modeled our basement to resemble an old 1950s diner. The atmosphere and decor are perfect for enjoying a hand dipped milkshake. The classic diner menu portions are filling and tasty! Our waitress was friendly and the food came out quickly. As we left the diner, we were immediately transported back to the 21st Century. It was so puzzling. From the outside, it looked like a diner. Who would've guessed that a time machine could be found only six minutes from Bronner's? If you enjoy a classic diner atmosphere, good food, or simply want to experience a time machine, we highly recommend The Comet!

Walking in feels like the universe hit pause somewhere in the best way. Same feel, same energy, same kind of place you can count on without thinking twice. It's like being teleported back to exactly where you're supposed to be. And the food? Exactly what it should be. No pretending to be healthy, no overthinking it. Just straight, unapologetic comfort. I go there for one thing every time: the hot beef sandwich. Massive. Smothered in gravy... and I mean gravy everywhere. The kind where you don't just eat it, you commit to it. Fries? Those are getting dipped in gravy too, no question. It's excessive in the best possible way. The portions are out of control. You're not finishing it. You're not even pretending to. You're leaving with enough leftovers for the next couple of days and you're not mad about it. It's the kind of meal that feels a little sinful, but worth every second. You'll deal with forgiveness later. Hometown, no-frills, real-deal comfort food that hasn't lost its identity over time. And honestly, that's rare.

We ordered a 3 piece fish and chips to share. The coleslaw was tasty and ample. The fish were very large pieces, but not the best tasting cod. Meh. The fries were horrible. Looked like the grease was old, so definitely dark brown, but not crisp. There are 2 things that made this a less than event. The cashier! She was snippy and just not nice. The 2nd thing was that we were charged .75 for an extra plate! Now, it isn't that i mind the charge, but we were not made aware of it when we ordered. Would we have been charged if we ate off the same plate? This kind of nickel and diming makes you not want to return. We paid cash, but beware they charge 3% for using a credit card. We won't return. We won't recommend. There are far better places to eat.

The bar was quiet, calm, dark and cold but seemed like a chill vibe. Our waitress was okay, service was quick and she did her job well but didn't smile and wasn't very talkative or seemingly friendly. We asked what her favorite appetizers were and we ordered the Loaded Potato Balls based on her recommendation - they were great! 10/10! Loaded with flavor, very moist and served with 3 sauces - ranch, spicy ranch and sour cream. The ranch and spicy ranch were not great - tastes like they're bottled not homemade. The sour cream though, that was a good compliment. We both ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich - 10/10! They're hand breaded, juicy and tender chicken breasts topped with lettuce, tomato and mayo on a perfectly warm brioche bun. Our meal was served so hot, it was perfect. I would absolutely go back just for this sandwich! The homemade chips for the side were great, crispy and lightly seasoned. I had the tater tots with mine and they tasted freezer burnt, wouldn't get them again. We also had a side of their house made coleslaw and it was perfect, ice cold and a great balance of flavor. Draft beer wasn't super cold - it would be better served in a frosted glass. Overall- it's good, we'd come again! Next time we'd sit at the bar top as the bartenders seemed to enjoy more casual conversation and friendly vibes with their customers.

We started with the Santa Fe nachos and fried pickle chips. The nachos were already soggy when they arrived, and the pickles were cut far too thick and not crispy at all. The portion of sour cream was also too small for the size of the nachos. We didn't finish either appetizer. For my entrée, I ordered the Train Wreck Burger with onion rings. The name ended up being fitting, but not in a good way. The burger was bland, and the fried egg that was supposed to be part of it was barely noticeable. I only ate about half. My son's hot honey chicken sandwich was just average and overpriced, and the fries that came with it were clearly overcooked and not fresh. They were taken off the bill, which was appreciated, but didn't change the overall experience. The restaurant itself was clean, and there are plenty of seating options including booths, high tops, and a bar. The service was polite, but overall the experience felt very underwhelming. For the prices they charge, the food quality simply isn't there. We left disappointed and won't be returning.
