Excellent restaurant and as far as pasta goes, I guess I could have given it 5 stars. If you're in Leadville and want Italian food, then the Famous is a must. If you really like Italian food, I would say it's worth a 1- 2 hour drive. I had the Chicken Parmesan and it was great. I did start eating before remembering to take the photo ‍ I believe the drink was a margarita and it was good. All in all a great restaurant with great service. read more

I came here with my friend Danielle after a long day of travel and work stuff. The place is very cute and spacious inside with plenty of regular and bar seating. Our waiter was very attentive and answered all our questions and was very patient when we wanted some more time to figure out what we needed. He kept checking in on us through the evening got us to go boxes and the check and no issues just kind smiles all evening. The food was delicious as well as being decent portion sizes too as you can see from the photos. Checked out the Famous over the weekend after a very long 14er hike. We were hungry and tired and popped in for Happy Hour. Awesome Happy Hour food menu, lots of good options - we went back and forth. Went with the Brussel sprouts and the Chicken Drumsticks tossed in the Asian sauce. Enjoyed both very much, Brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and the drumsticks were both delicious and filling. My husband really enjoyed the clove old fashioned on the menu, and I went with a local hazy on tap. We noticed there is a giant wood fire pizza just behind the bar, the pizzas looked and smelled delicious. Great restaurant with a chill modern vibe, service was impeccable as well. Beautiful patio out back with a view for when it's nice out. Will definitely stop by next time we are in Leadville. read more

Excellent service all around. We have dogs but the tables outside were full. However the nice young lady that was hosting said there are chairs we could so at that we're drinks only until a table opened up so we did and a table opened up less than the time it took to get our first drink!! Cool place, ambience was nice and service from our reddish head waitress was awesome! The only not pic was that the meatball sliders were too big and a little dry. Really enjoyed our meal here and the entire experience! We were seated as soon as we walked in and the service was great. We enjoyed a local IPA, a huge order of meatballs sliders, the Italian Cobb salad and a mushroom pizza. Portions are large. We couldn't finish all the pizza so boxed it for home. Everything came out super fast and our waitress was very attentive. The atmosphere is chill and relaxing. Stopped in for a carb load meal for my child the night before a race. He devoured his spaghetti and meatballs, part of my fettuccini and then an extra wood fired pizza. Delicious! All of it! Wait staff was attentive, busy and also really seemed to be enjoying their shift and that tells me a lot about a place. It's more modern inside than a lot of other restaurants in the area. Tables big and small with tv to watch sports. I will say there's not really a way to eat here on a small budget. It's hard to find that anywhere these days. I didn't add chicken to my fettuccini because I just couldn't afford it while feeding my child, plus traveling costs. So I can't speak to that flavor. The view from the back patio at The Famous is incredible. You've got an amazing view of the Rockies, especially Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive (which are the two tallest mountains in Colorado, I believe). But, of course, you don't come to a restaurant just for the view; the food was good, too. Granted, I was only there for the one meal, but it was so tasty (the "Italian Cobb salad") and definitely recommend it. read more

We stopped in to The Famous for dinner after an afternoon fishing on the beautiful Arkansas river. It is a spacious open pizza place with a lively bar scene and tons of seating. We sat outdoors on the back patio which had a large screen broadcasting MLB All-Star activities. Although the menu stated GF options were available ( perhaps pasta?) by and large GLUTEN FREE OPTIONS WERE LIMITED. I ended up with Italian Cobb salad which was really meat heavy. We ended up here for dinner after the train ride after another restaurant didn't even seat us, and I am glad we did. The staff was friendly and prompt. The views behind the patio are beautiful, and the food was amazing! Let's just say we all over ate considering we had a 3 hour drive home. I had the Alfredo and a cello drop and they were both delightful. The cello drop reminded me of Rome. Everyone loved their food (and I have some picky eaters in my family). We were in town for one last night so we decided to stop in for dinner at the famous. We are so glad we did! Our service from Shelby was top notch! She was very knowledgeable and gave us every option possible from modifying food, GF, Vegan options and specials! We didn't leave a single crumb on our plate! We loved the ambiance and how relaxing the environment was. We noticed that all while making sure our dinner experience was the best. She never stopped working hard the whole time. It seemed they didn't have anyone there to seat or help with tables but that didn't stop her or from taking action. That's the kind of hard work that you like to see! Great job! Finally went into The Famous restaurant today, it opened sometime the beginning of this year (2024). We thought it was a stupid name for a restaurant, but I found out today, it was the original building's business name from 1881 (a shoe factory), they kept the name & the sign, & now we really like the name! The food is really good. Not fantastic, but definitely will return! The atmosphere is PERFECT! I love it! Super clean! Average prices for a sports bar (a little high for my liking, but comparable to the rest of the nicer restaurants around town.) Friendly staff (though a little lacking on attentiveness), but I'm a fan, YES! HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Thank you Leadville for finally getting a relaxing, cool place to hang out! The penne vodka was incredible. Best I've had in Colorado, hands down. We came at 7pm on a Saturday and the place was busy but we had no problem getting a table.
