If you're looking for a good pizza in Leadville Colorado, you NEED to try this place out. This was easily one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten, the crust was perfectly crisp (I think it's made in a brick oven but I'm not entirely sure) either way it was DELISH. The cheese was so good and had a great pull to it too. We also had buffalo wings, they were very good and quite a good size but I didn't get a picture of them before we dug in. The service was pretty good as well, you order up front and pay then you can take a seat inside or out at the patio, they give you a number and bring your food out to your table (pretty quickly I might add) I didn't see much of the inside since we sat in the patio area and it was very nice. There was a good variety of tables and how many chairs at each table, most tables were shaded but there were a few that weren't. I also seen a flyer saying they had live music on Thursdays so that might make it an even better experience if you enjoy live music. This place rocks. Lots of pizzas prepared, with fresh ingredients on site. The crust is exceptional and that makes for a very good pizza pie. I came with a large group. We sat out back. There are tables, some with awnings, a patio with tables and tent for dining. Once those fill-up, the restaurant has blankets for you to spread on the ground and have your own "picnic." We order a variety of pizzas, from vegetarian, to full carnivore sausage, pepperoni. The spinach, feta and prosciutto was exceptional. The BBQ pizza was delicious. The shrimp pizza was a bit sweet, but also very tasty. Pizzas are served when ready and promptly. Service was friendly helpful. This is the place to go for pizza in the high country. read more

My family said this could be the best pizza that they have had and we're originally from NY. My husband had a calzone that was huge! It was definitely filled and they didn't skimp on the filling. My sons got the Margherita pizza and really liked it. It is a thinner crust pizza. I ordered the beet salad. It was okay. Definitely not the best salad I've had but good enough. I have very vivid memories of this pizza. I ate half of this pizza while I was really hungry then threw ALL of it up a few hours later due to altitude sickness. This is a really popular restaurant in Leadville, although I am not really sure why. Their specialty pizzas didn't really appeal to me, so I made a custom one with the toppings I like. I had Italian sausage, grilled chicken, fresh mushrooms, pineapple, and spinach on my pizza. I got a medium for $25, which seemed really expensive for a pizza, even with it lasting two meals. It tasted okay, and these are toppings I normally really like together, but these flavours were off. The wait time was pretty crazy. We were there at 3pm on a Saturday, and we waited for 45 minutes for our pizzas. I guess I'm used to pizza places being really fast where they add all the toppings and cook it right away in front of you. I will say that I vastly prefer other customizable pizza places that I've been to in terms of both the taste and cost. read more

We're visiting from out of state for a wedding, and High Mountain Pies came highly recommended. After spending the morning walking around downtown Leadville and shopping, we met up with family here for lunch -- and it did not disappoint! We were greeted right away, handed menus for our party of 7, and given a pitcher of ice water. The spacious back patio was perfect for our group. Once we decided what we wanted, we placed our order at the register. I didn't snap a photo of the salads, but they were fresh and delicious. We had one Caesar and one garden salad with their homemade ranch (so good!). For the table -- and especially the two littles with us -- we ordered garlic bread with tomato sauce, a cheese pizza, a Margherita Nostra, and a carnivore pizza. Truly some of the best pizza we've ever had. The crust was perfect -- thin, crispy, and sturdy enough to handle the generous, flavorful toppings on each pie. Small pizza place serving up delicious food. The inside has a small bar area with roughly 4 chairs & three small tables. I hear the patio is much larger but I came in the middle of winter so I didn't get a chance to check it out. Food wise, they have sandwiches, salads, pizzas, ribs, and wings. As well as HUGE cookies and brownies for dessert. And, a small selection of canned beers and bottled drinks I ordered the focaccia with homemade hummus, olive relish, and basil pesto, a spinach salad, and a small mini-super pizza. The foccacia was so light and fluffy in the middle. Probably the best focaccia I've ever had. The pizza crust is made from the same dough. They make it fresh daily. So good! My server was very friendly and gave me great recommendations about things to do while in town. I will definitely be back in the summer to check out the patio! read more

Honestly I'm not a huge pizza fan, but High Mountain Pies is too cute NOT to visit. Came here twice in the span of a week camping in Leadville. Had my two huskies with me and love that the outdoor patio is dog-friendly. So is everyone I met there! Tried a few different pies, in addition to wings and breads. Everything was tasty. Definitely get a pitcher of beer, too. Love the spaciousness of the patio, but watch out for windy weather! Sitting on one of the benches had a tarp blowing towards us the whole time. Also, the mozzarella sticks aren't ACTUALLY sticks. But, small details. Easy and quick to order. There's water bowls for pups. Realliy does feel like I'm having lunch in a friend's backyard. The Best pizza in the Rockies. If you're looking for excellent pizza you found it. All fresh ingredients, speciality pies. The wings and ribs are excellent also. And for a treat grab a brownie or a cookie. Inside seating is tight. But if the weather allows the patio is good bet. All food is made to order no pre cook which is worth the wait.
