I've had plenty of bad service in my life. I've also had plenty of bad food in my life. But the chaotic experience of dining at Sauce on the Maggie was truly a first. It began with check-in... the host appeared distressed and mumbled something about making sure her large party gets seated (not us) without properly acknowledging us. She left to go check on something and we kept waiting. When she came back, she was exasperated, but friendly and had us sat promptly. I wondered to my family if perhaps they were understaffed that night. Maybe? But there did seem to be plenty of staff running around and it seemed to be at 65% capacity. But when I say they were running, I mean RUNNING. It was almost comical and out of an SNL skit -- I kept asking my family facetiously what they were running FROM? But ironically, the service was glacial as many reviewers have pointed out. Appetizers and drinks went smoothly enough. The food was disappointing from the start... fried ravioli was chewy, bruschetta was soggy, and the caprese salad was nothing special. The standout of the entire night was the fried brussel sprouts, surprisingly tasty. Credit where credit is due!!! The main course is where things went further south. Penne a la vodka lacked the distinctive tangy flavor, rigatoni had a really one noted and heavy peppery kick, and the bolognese was unremarkable. The bus boy then only partially cleared our tables, took the plates but left the sauce covered silverware (never to be cleared, which was gross). We waited probably 15 minutes for server to return to get the check.. during which the food runner serving the table next to us dropped a family sized bowl of pasta onto the floor and my cream colored sneakers. It happens, no shade to the bus boy, but can't help but draw parallels to how fast the servers seemed to be rushing to and from the tables as if they were being chased...My family was in good spirits and laughing about all of this, by the way. Finally, our server returns, and insisted that we have an "on the house" dessert for the birthday girl (my sister was celebrating her 30th and engagement). We agreed, but decided we needed a second to look. She was gone for probably another 10 minutes, we ordered, and asked for the check. Another 10 or so minutes go by. The desserts arrive without any silverware. The food runner brings some, they're dirty. So the waitress ultimately bring some over that were clean enough. My fudge cake was yummy (again, being fair here), but all the others were not. We were most disappointed that the tiramisu, advertised as being made daily in house, lacked coffee flavor and coloring, and much too heavy on the cream. After finishing dessert we waited and waited. I decided to flag down the host as she weaved through the other servers like a 6 lane highway in Atlanta . "Excuse me, miss," I said, to which she responded by holding up a finger at me and saying something about her other table. "Oh," I exclaimed in surprise. She later looped back eventually and apologized, taking the check from us. Our initial server returns for the check a few minutes later, and I informed her that I'd given the check to the host/manager (?). \ Once she returned with the check, she said she "heard" about what happened and was so sorry. I jokingly said, "which part?" Which in hindsight I feel bad about. Sorry to that waitress. The restaurant ultimately comped 3 of the desserts, which was nice. Overall, the ambiance was frenetic, the food bad/mediocre, and the service slow. That said, my family got a great laugh out of the whole thing, and thus I give 2 stars instead of 1. read more

We waited for 30 minutes and walked out, followed by a party of four who were seated before us. Without going into all the depressing details, without doubt, at least three of the employees were drunk. Apparently they had just completed an Agave Festival? We have been coming to Breck since 2018 and just discovered this place - our loss, this place is legit and so good! We were craving Italian and saw the sign on the second level and had to have it. Unfortunately, I just had knee surgery and can't go up stairs, which was all we saw at the time. My husband enlisted the bartender to come down and guide me to the "secret" elevator it seems few people know about. There is also a ramp that we discovered later, so that works, but it was really sweet of Grace the bartender to help me out. On to the food - so amazing!!! We were there for happy hour and sampled several items. The rigatoni with sausage was solid - they accidentally made a dinner size portion which was wonderful because it lasted for another dinner and it was so good we are going back for more. The filet tips with gorgonzola was a surprise, it's a sauce that you could slurp on for days, and the brussel sprouts with bacon was solid. We are staying 3 more weeks and will spend every Sunday there with the amazing Grace bartender and delicious food! My boyfriend and I came here after we checked into our unit. We were looking for a restaurant that was walkable and The Village at Breckenridge recommended Sauce on the Maggie. Walking in the ambiance was very cozy and smelled great. Definitely looked more on the nicer side but there was no dress code. There was also a slight wait but reservations are a must even if you think it's not busy! We both ordered the meomi red wine which was great, the fried ravioli as an appetizer, and then split a large 'House Sausage Specialty' pizza. We sat at a high top in the bar area and the service was very quick, and the food was out quickly as well. Our server was super helpful when deciding on what to eat and allowed us to have some wine samples before ordering our glass. The food itself was delicious! The fried ravioli were very filling and the order came with a lot as well. The pizza was delicious and large. My bf ate 3 slices and I ate 2 and we had half of the pizza left. The only thing I can think of is all of that came out to $92 which is crazy to me but we knew that before even going to the restaurant. We always try to go to Sauce on the Blue when we're in the mountains and since staying in Breckenridge we wanted to try Sauce on the Maggie. I was a bit disappointed by the food this time around, but I'm totally comparing it to my experience at Sauce on the Blue. The mussles were great, and probably our favorite although they were very oily... the caprese was good but overpriced for what we got. All the bread we got was super burnt and hard. I was honestly surprised they would serve it. We got the ravioli of the day... which was stuffed rigatoni and was just OK. Stayed in Breckenridge for a week and this restaurant was a 3 minute walk from my hotel. I went in for Happy Hour at the bar which was perfect, I had a few glasses of Pinot Grigio. Ty and Nikki were both great to me the 2 times I came in. The food deals on the happy hour menu were pretty good steals. I tried the fried ravioli, shrimp scampi and the steak. I don't normally write reviews, but I think everyone needs to know about our experience. To start off, the prices were extremely unreasonable considering the quality of food. If you're a soda person, be forewarned that they will give you Pepsi/Diet Pepsi when you ask for Coke and not tell you they don't have Coke!!! Be prepared to bring $500 cash because they won't tell you there is a surcharge for credit card expenses but it will show up on your receipt. You want a classic margarita pizza?? Too bad, you're getting garlic pizza with no sauce. They must have put all the sauce on the Maggie. We were happy the restaurant was open for Thanksgiving as we ate there last year. My kid has celiac and ordered gluten free penne, we asked about the pizza but he said it's all cooked together so not celiac safe. I ordered penne vodka and asked for a side order of the Thanksgiving sides (stuffing and mashed). The sides were yummy. Pasta was a pretty standard dish, they don't make the pasta there but the sauce is pretty good. My kid ordered ice cream for dessert (celiac safe) which was $8 for a little bowl eaten in two minutes. I had contemplated ordering tiramisu and asked if it had nuts as I have a nut allergy. The server said it didn't and started listing ingredients which included frangelico. Which has hazelnuts in it so I corrected him and opted out of dessert but that was a close call. They were so great with the celiac so I was surprised and I really hope the server went back and asked questions to clarify ingredients for future patrons. It was $85 for the two of us with no drinks so on the pricier side but it's Breck. If you want pasta and don't have allergies it's a great atmosphere. If you have allergies I would ask for the manager or chef to be certain you will be safe. If you're thinking of dining here, know this: I witnessed our waitress throwing up in the bathroom during our meal, only for her to walk out of the stall, say nothing, and go back to serving food. My mother-in-law's first glass of wine was spoiled (it tasted like vinegar). We waited over an hour and a half before receiving food, and by the time dishes came out, multiple orders were wrong - including the birthday girl's. Some people were completely done eating before others had even been served. When the acting manager, Dylan, finally came over, he claimed there had only been "one mistake." We discreetly corrected him, explaining there had actually been three. He promised to send out desserts as an apology, but after more than 15 minutes of waiting, he brought just two small desserts for all 14 of us to share - and still no birthday dessert for my sister-in-law. We also had to ask several times just to get boxes for leftovers. As if the service wasn't bad enough, the atmosphere was unbearable. A rehearsal dinner group next to us was extremely disruptive, to the point of harassing another table - shushing them and mocking them loudly throughout the night. The staff did nothing to intervene, leaving the entire dining room tense and uncomfortable. By the end of dinner, I was mortified. This was a special weekend for my family - I was hosting relatives for my wedding - and what should have been a celebratory meal turned into an embarrassing ordeal. When I confronted the manager about the overall experience, he offered only a small discount for the messed-up meals. Then, to top it all off, the horrifying incident with the waitress in the bathroom made me genuinely concerned for everyone's health. This restaurant provided one of the most unprofessional, unpleasant, and downright disgusting dining experiences I have ever had. This place was so cute! Located in the middle of town it was easy to access and it was decorated great inside. The vibes were amazing and the staff was very kind and attentive.
