I witnessed actual teenagers playing with younger kids on the grass on a perfect sunny day. Not a single smart phone in sight. I saw adults talk and converse without looking at their phones. It was a throwback to 15 years ago. Food trucks lined the square. There was a variety of food. None all that cheap but a small price to pay for witnessing an authentic community driven event. There was live entertainment that was none too shabby. We got a variety of food, sat at a park bench and had a great time.

We got some great local produce including cherries that my daughter didn't want to stop eating. Picked up some nice earrings for gifts to our family. Had a good time hanging out and enjoying the park and seeing the town really come out. It is always nice to be able to talk to the people making the goods and growing the food and they were all pleasant to talk with.

So, my husband and I grabbed some of the last seats. We are so glad we did. The farm is so close to town and it is beautiful. The owners are so friendly; they started the farm in 1991. The food and beer pairings from Great Northern were awesome and the company was fantastic. One of our favorite things to do on vacation!

The Coop (play on words right? As a local, I have been coming here for a few years and find that it is the best in the valley. Recently other towns have picked up on its success (ahem Bigfork) and are attempting to copy Columbia Falls' success. The music featured at the coop is pretty fun and you will find a mix of good ol montanans, hippies, kids and others who just enjoy live music. Thursday's are great for picking up local vegetables and baked goods, flowers and novelties. The ImagineIf library comes to bring fun for the kids, there's a climbing wall and a bouncy house. There's a good selection of food trucks to satisfy your hunger and I've never had anything I haven't liked. Montana made gifts are also here. Get yourself a sno cone, a beer and a snack. See which distillery is featured and what brewery is featured for the evening. Leave happy and fat. But please cross on the designated cross walks and don't drink and drive.

Yet other larger breed dogs were allowed to continue to walk in the market, even ones who were barking at people. It's ok to say no dogs allowed, but it needs to be ALL dogs. Not just singling out specific dogs. This was our first time to visit the market as we have just moved here. We unfortunately will not be back.

Woohoo, short walk to the oldest farmers market in Montana. While my husband is working over in Whitefish, I have been here doing homework in the room, I get our during the day and walk around and have seen this area of the mall parking lot dead, so when Saturday rolled around it was a mob scene. Who knew. Lines of cars, lines of people and the smell of fresh donuts being made on the spot, were almost more fun than I could handle in Montana. I did a couple of laps with my Trader Joe's reusable bag in hand... looking the part of a serious farmers market regular... brought my own bag, have plenty of singles in my purse, and not for stripping farmers, but for those awesome tomatoes. I hit several farmers markets back in Oregon, and this one is a decent size, so there were plenty of places to pick from for early crops. The flowers were incredibly cheap, I saw giant pots of pretty red geraniums going for under $10. I was tempted to line my hotel room with them and take them home, but instead I opted for fresh made kettle corn and a bag of salad for $3. Starting in April they are here until October, every Saturday. It is worth the trip over there if you are in town.

We were able to bring our lab and the cherries trees were full of ripe yummy cherries. The owners were really friendly and we had a great time. I highly recommend this for a few hours or a full day!

The very freshest & tastiest organically grown local produce in the Flathead Valley…read more Hard-working, yet truly cheerful farmers offer up all sorts of veggies grown in their very special glacial soil. I don't know what their other 'heirloom' secrets are, but I know that their produce tastes more flavorful than I thought possible. The strawberries I recently picked dropped straight down from Heaven's strawberry patch. I put up a magical batch of strawberry jam & went back for 12 more pounds! The carrots & beets are crunchy & juicy with tender greens you just want to curl up with. As the season moves along you can delight in their onions, tomatoes, greens, roots, melons, eggplant, squash, sunflowers - you name it, they're growing it. They've been open to the public for about 2 years & I just became a member this season. Better than a regular CSA where you have to take a box of whatever they give you - here you can buy whatever you want/need & the cost is deducted from your 'tab'. Bonus: members get a 15% discount as well. The retail store offers local dairy products that taste creamy & decadently European. Local meats, eggs, honey, salsa, etc etc are available, too. One stop grocery shopping!
