After an AMAZING spa day, I worked up quite the appetite! I searched for restaurants nearby and stumbled across this gem. I sat at the bar, and the service was excellent. Since it was my first time dining here, the bartender took the time to thoroughly explain the menu, pointing out both the restaurant's favorites and his personal recommendations. That was a nice touch. For my drink, I ordered the Honeydew Daze. It was delicious and definitely strong, in the best way! I started with the deviled eggs. They were good but needed a little more seasoning, such as salt, to really make the flavors pop. The candied bacon was the standout and paired really well with the eggs. For my entrée, I had the short rib pizza. I really enjoyed it, especially the rich, fatty pieces of short rib that added so much flavor to each bite. One thing to note is that there's a $1 surcharge for paying with a credit card. It's not a dealbreaker, but I think it's something customers should be made aware of before they pay. The vibe was laid-back and relaxing. It was spacious, not overly busy, and I really loved the farmhouse-style doors and décor, they gave the restaurant a cozy, rustic feel. I wish had a better experience but in full transparency I have to admit the service was not up to par to my previous visits here. The staff watched multiple guests pile in the lobby for about 10 minutes without addressing anyone or simply greeting guests to let them know someone will be with them shortly. Once I was seated and a server came over to my table, I was greeted with "what's up"... Personally, I'm not used to that type of greeting at Farmhouse (or many other restaurants) and it was a bit too casual for me. In fact, the server continued to interact overly casual throughout the experience in my opinion. I'm all for friendly interactions, but this didn't feel friendly, it felt like a lack of effort to give quality service. I actually noted on my reservation that I was there for a birthday celebration and it seemed the staff didn't read the note at all. Upon reminding my server that I dined at Farmhouse to celebrate, he bluntly stated that the restaurant does not do any celebratory treats. He stated that the restaurant simply offers a card gifting a free app, specifically for your NEXT visit. I happily accepted that! However, moments later, I watched another server deliver a candle lit birthday treat to a nearby table... When I asked our server about this, he sarcastically answered that "the other sever got the bartender to make some sort of celebratory drink" and that he didn't know what it was. I'd think great service would look like going to figure out what it was and ensuring that I also had a special celebration. Instead, he loudly said the following while and walking away laughing... "not unless you want to pay $20 for a drink". At that point we had already closed our tab and it was clear that quality service was not his priority. Now, I generously gave the overall rating of my experience 3 stars. I believe the food is fresh and I enjoyed my meal, however, as you can imagine with poor service the food doesn't taste as good. Let me start with the positives: 1. The restaurant is beautiful! Very thoughtful decor, wonderful atmosphere. The ambiance is perfect for a date night or girls lunch, so versatile! 2. The staff is incredibly kind. The hostess was cheery as I walked in the door and put a smile on my face. The waitress was knowledgeable of the menu and very attentive! The manager was gracious and kind as well. 3. The fries were some of the best fries I've ever eaten in my life. The cornbread that was brought out before the meal was amazing. Not dry, perfect amount of moisture. The whipped butter was a nice touch. The sweet tea was awesome too, like my southern mom would make it! Okay, I hate it-but here are the negatives: 1. The dead fly on my pickle spear was unexpected. I'm mostly disappointed they didn't see it when it was being plated, it was very obvious and facing the outside of the plate. 2. When I ordered their short rib melt, I didn't expect for half of my sandwich to be the fat cap from the meat. My first mouthful was nothing but fat, I lost my appetite after that. My wife and I were recommended this spot by our cousin, and I'm so glad she put us on! We stopped by during lunch without a reservation, and the wait was less than 20 minutes, which wasn't bad at all. Once we were seated, we were greeted by Jada, who had amazing energy from start to finish. The drink menu is very big. They give complimentary cornbread, which was good. The Chesapeake eggs were okay, I'm not sure if it was the crab topped, egg mixture, or Old Bay but it just had an odd taste that I did not like. My mom said her sandwich was good, but nothing like the picture on the TV screen inside. My ravioli was good. Not pictured was the strawberry lemonade I got, it was overpriced $8.50 and the strawberry was literally syrup and I could barely taste a strawberry lemonade combination. Will return back. read more

I went back to The Farmhouse and had a completely different experience than the first visit. We were seated right away (I did ask to move tables) and our server was knowledgeable and friendly. Things went downward after we ordered. My drink, the honeycomb tasted like lemon (I don't like lemon). My partner ordered the blackened chicken Alfredo pasta and it was really bland, we tried to give it a little boost with salt and pepper, we told the server but nothing was done. I ordered the barbecue and berry pizza. And I ate it ... actually we both did because we were hungry but the jalenpenos and the red onion should have been cooked ... they were raw on the pizza and the rotisserie chicken was dried out. We don't get cornbread until after our food came and it was super bland. We never saw our server again and had to flag someone down to get our check. Food and service so good you'll forget you're in a mall parking lot! We were out running errands and decided to grab a bite. Unfamiliar with the area, I jumped on yelp and found The Farmhouse with its 4.4 star rating. So there we went. The Waugh Chapel area is a giant shopping center. Wegmans, Old Navy, Verizon, etc. The Farmhouse is in a new building near the man road. Their whole thing is farm to fork, with some herbs and greens grown on site and others sourced locally. The service is great! Fast and friendly. Instead of bread or rolls, they warm you up with some country style homemade cornbread. Freshly baked, cast iron skillet, with butter and syrup. Yum! We had the meatloaf and the chicken and chicken and biscuits. The meatloaf was tasty, with homemade mashed potatoes and perfectly cooked fresh green beans. The chicken and biscuits is kind of like a chicken pot pie without the crust. The biscuits are on top so you can decide how much bread you want. The vegetables are nice and fresh, and the chicken is perfect white meat. A++ on both entrees. For dessert we had half-baked, which is an ooey gooey cookie and a brownie in a cast iron skillet topped with ice cream. We liked it, but next time I'll probably have just ice cream because the ice cream was absolutely perfect. Where are you? Stevensville? Baltimore? Solomon's? Alexandria? DC? We came here twice in one week because we liked it so much the first time. Once for brunch and a second time for Easter brunch. I enjoyed the live music. The hostess, servers and the bar staff (sat there the first time) were friendly and helpful. Plenty of space inside and out. Very well decorated and clean. A lot of selections to choose from. WOW! This was such a great experience at The Farmhouse! First, a huge shout-out to Leilah, she was absolutely AMAZING. She was personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. Her service truly elevated our visit. Now, let's talk about the food, delicious, delicious, delicious! The rustic bruschetta was on point and easily some of the best I've had in a while. The only thing I would tweak is to have the bread toasted just a little more, but overall it was fantastic. I ordered the blackened chicken Alfredo, and it was very flavorful and satisfying, definitely something I would order again. Husbae had the Smashed Bison Burger and said every bite was packed with flavor. He did mention he wished it were a bit bigger, but he thoroughly enjoyed it, especially paired with the fries. We stopped by The Farmhouse Gambrills this lovely Saturday afternoon, and honestly, this was the best decision of the day! The wait for a table was over an hour, but here is a pro-tip: seating at the bar is self-seating! We grabbed spots right away with zero wait, and they offer the full menu. Our bartender (and really, our caretaker for the afternoon), Leila, was fantastic and took great care of us. They start you off with free cornbread served in a cool little cast iron skillet. With that butter melted on top, it was great. My only tiny critique is that it was a little difficult to get out of the skillet, they probably just need to grease the pan a bit more. For an appetizer, we ordered the Bruschetta. It came out fast, the presentation was amazing, but the taste was even better. The freshness of the flavors was ri-damn-diculous! The fresh mozzarella, onions, pesto, heirloom tomatoes, and balsamic glaze completely set that thing off. I do wish the bread was toasted just a bit crispier, but it was still a winner. My Wife ordered the Blackened Chicken Alfredo, and luckily she was in a sharing mood! I am so glad she let me try it because, as she stated, it was sooo good. The blackened chicken was cooked perfectly and really set the Alfredo off. The pasta tasted fresh, and the sauce was excellent. It was just a great choice with amazing flavor. I got the Bison Smashed Burger, and it was absolutely on point. I love that the bison meat is locally sourced, and it was incredibly flavorful, dare I say, even more flavorful than a regular beef burger! It wasn't super big, but it was definitely big with flavor, and I was completely full when I was done. That toasted buttery bun really added to the experience. I sliced up my pickle spear, added it straight to the burger, and man, those flavors just popped in my mouth. I love when food tastes so good that you still have the flavors lingering when you're done to remind you of what you just ate. I would say order what we ordered and you won't be sorry! We ended up ordering a Peach Cobbler to go because the guests sitting next to us got one and highly recommended it. I'll update this review with the cobbler once we find another stomach to enjoy it with at home, LOL! The staff was great, friendly, and attentive. I have to say this place has some really good food - you can tell it's fresh! Our waiter, Josh was very attentive, informative, and friendly. I tried the seasonal black cherry lemonade and it was so sweet and refreshing! We started off the garlic steak bites and fried zucchini. The steak bites were tender and juicy , and that chimmichurri sauce delicious! The zucchini fries were so fresh and soft, yet had a nice crunch with a tasty sauce accompanying. A lot of reviews said the cornbread is amazing, however, I wasn't too impressed. It was well baked, however it was lacking that good sweet flavor and was quite bland in my opinion. For my entree, I ordered the short rib melt. The pictures don't do it justice - similar to the steak, it was juice and tender. Both sauces that come with it are so good! I would 100% order it again. Our waiter was nice but only came by once after he took our order. The food was the biggest disappointment. We got the ragu and the chicken Marsala. The ragu had what felt like a whole pound of pepperoni... a lot of it was clumped together. It also made the pasta super oily - there was whole pool of it at the bottom of the bowl. The Marsala wasn't much better. Maybe worse. The pasta was overcooked and mushy. The piece of chicken was small and meh. My husband said it was like they heated up a frozen chicken breast. We had a mixed experience here, but there's potential. I made a reservation for 6 on a Thursday night and when our group grew to 14 the following day, the restaurant was able to accommodate, which I really appreciated. When we arrived, our table appeared to be ready right at our reservation time, but we still had to wait to be seated. It wasn't a long delay, but it was a bit confusing and felt like a service issue. The ambience is beautiful and well done, and the bathrooms were clean. The food itself was solid across the board, and the chicken and biscuit was actually even better the next day as leftovers. Unfortunately, the service was the biggest drawback. Refills only happened when we asked, and splitting checks for a large group was more difficult than expected. At one point when a correction was needed, a member of our party noticed the server visibly rolling her eyes, which didn't help the experience. Drinks are also served by the can rather than fountain style, which made them feel overpriced without refills. For a place that presents as upscale, the experience shouldn't feel nickel-and-dimed. Cornbread was good the butter and the syrup get it even better the pan Seabass, and succotash with rice with good seasoning could use a little more salt and pee pee some Cajun seasoning just to bring out the flavor a little bit because it lacked flavor, but it was delicious once I added salt and pepper to it. The blackened chicken Alfredo was delicious. Always get extra Alfredo sauce. It only needed a pinch or two of salt and it was amazing. I do intend to return again to experience the duck. A hodgepodge of toppings making each bite different and fun to taste. Flavorful and juicy. This was the best of all of the pizzas, I would recommend this one. Bird + Berry Extremely dry, the up-cycled rotisserie chicken was very dry. Not enough sauce on the crust either. The idea sounded intriguing, the application was left to be desired. Farmhouse Wings The presence of mesquite was a nice touch. I like the Blueberry BBQ sauce. The ranch did not have enough onion nor garlic. I was not a fan of the soupy and watered down texture to the dips. The blue cheese was also runny too. I was a bit disappointed to see "Smashing Grapes" come and go. The Crofton/Gambrills area was in dire need of a somewhat upscale restaurant, and Smashing Grapes was your only option. When I learned of the new restaurant's name, "The Farmhouse Gambrills", I immediately thought of a restaurant that specialized in breakfast/brunch, like "Eggspectation" down the road. Boy was I WRONG on so many levels!!! The Farmhouse Gambrills only offer breakfast/brunch on Sundays.. I was shocked. The interior is just as or maybe nicer than the former placeholder, Smashing Grapes. Then yesterday, I read a table advertisement that informed us that The Farmhouse and Smashing Grapes are both restaurants under the same umbrella "Titan Hospitality Group", so they just decided to do a rebrand at this location. The food is just as good as Smashing Grapes. The first time we visited, we weren't that hungry and I just went with the "Bold BLT" and of course the crab topped deviled eggs. She just did soup. It was good but I didn't want to leave a review until I had a real meal. This past Sunday, I had the fried duck and she had the shrimp pasta and the crab dip for an appetizer. Everything was good, however, the crab dip was a bit soupy, so much so, we both said this could easily go as a cream of crab soup. May want to thicken that up just a bit. All and all, we enjoyed both visits. We do wish they offer breakfast items during the week or at least on Saturdays :(. Other than that, don't let the name throw you off. This place is huge! I was initially not all that thrilled to be seated in a sort of back room but it turned out it was lovely. It was quieter than out in the main sections and we could hear our conversation easily. Our server, Omar, was a wannabe stand-up comic, but not in an annoying way - actually funny and cute. The food was so good! I had a pulled pork sandwich with so much succulent pork that I took half of it home. The bacon on it was cooked perfectly, and the coleslaw added that little zing. The Farmhouse is undeniably gorgeous, even if it's tucked inside a sprawling shopping center. Warm lighting, rich wood, and tasteful decor make for an inviting space. Walking in, I was impressed. We were seated quickly, and our waitress, handling both bar and table service, was friendly, attentive, and fast. Service here is a strong point. Unfortunately, the food doesn't match the setting. I started with the house onion soup. The broth was thin and one-note, more like warmed beef stock than a slow-simmered, layered soup. It lacked depth, richness, or even a hint of sweetness to balance it out. My short rib sandwich fell even flatter. Two slabs of toasted white bread held a pile of shredded beef, a layer of cheese, and a sprinkle of nearly raw onions. No caramelization, no texture, no flavor build. The meat was bland, and even the au jus couldn't rescue it. I actually ended up tearing it open and adding salt and pepper myself, which is never a good sign at a restaurant. The side of "wild mushroom sauté" was just a mound of rubbery button mushrooms, about as wild as bingo night at the retirement home. Welcome to Farmhouse in Gambrills. Of the Titan Group this restaurant is the one I found that could use some improvement. The overall experience was not bad I arrived around 7:45 and was seated by 8:30 after being politely informed of a thirty minute wait time. I was surprised the significant wait time considering there was lots of physical seating available. I do believe the delay was due to limited staffing on that Saturday evening. For the available staff present they were very polite and eluded to the short rib being the specialty food item recommendation. Not pictured and the best dish was the classic short rib. It hit every mark you would expect from a slow cooked meal. The steak and fries dish was average, it lacked seasoning and crust development from the cook process. The doneness and the size portions wasn't the issue here at all. Fortunately, I think a fix for the flavor would be to add with a good quality finishing salt and upgrading the butter to a compound butter to add more depth. A side of chimichurri would also pair well if considered. To help develop the crust on the steak a little better I'd recommend temping the steaks and pre-seasoning with salt to draw some of the moisture. Another star dish were the zucchini fries which had good flavor and crispiness. Unfortunately, these outshined the regular fries and made me regret not upgrading them on the steak and fries dish. I did like the layout of the restaurant. It was very nice on the inside and a perfect for a date night or large family dinner. The outside area seating was not available but could do well accommodating guest in the spring and fall seasons with ideal weather. Overall on this visit I'd rate them 3.9 of 5. There were some good things and some that could use a little help. I am excited to revisit and try different items from the menus. Thanks you read more

I have been meaning to visit this restaurant for so long and finally had the opportunity to. I went for a quick early dinner right after church. I had the Farmhouse chicken sandwich that came with a sauce that really set the tone for the meal. The fries were well good and perfectly salted. Our waiter was kind, patient and made great recommendations for our meal. Inside is beautiful, ambient and not noisy. I cant wait to return to see if the rest of the menu is just as good. read more

Lovely and extremely delicious drink. Could not tell you what it was. Service was respectful. The space was perfectly lit and also had live music. What shocked me is they had a machine that wouldn't allow me to pay with my phone. I was told it was acting up.
