My friends and I visited Ashling Kitchen & Bar for dinner, and the atmosphere is perfect for a casual dinner or drinks. For our entrees, we ordered the meatloaf, prime rib, stuffed shrimp, and Irish Whiskey Glazed Salmon. They all came with your choice of sides. My friends enjoyed their meals, but I was not impressed with the glazed salmon. My salmon was not completely cooked when it arrived, so I suggest telling the server if you want it medium or well done, etc. The server corrected it after it was sent back to the kitchen, which was handled well, but I personally didn't love the bacon flavor in the glaze. That said, they have a new chef and an updated menu, so maybe I will return to try something else. Overall, it's a relaxed spot for food and drinks.

Decent menu with a variety of items to choose from. Loved the Maryland specials! Service was great, attentive server. Liked that the space was big enough you didn't have to shout even when the restaurant filled up - and it certainly fills up during dinner time!

Met up with some friends and new acquaintances for dinner and had a blast. The atmosphere is good for families and dates. The atmosphere is warm and they still had the Christmas decor up ( that made me laugh). I ordered the steak frites medium with an acoustic bliss cocktail. The food was delicious. Others ordered chicken wings, short ribs ( very tender and flavorful) and the chicken and waffles ( NOT a small plate). We had Jessica as our server and she was great. She was patient with our chatter and indecisiveness ( thanks for that). Good food, good people, good time.

The service was excellent. Food was delicious. The service here was excellent and very attentive. Great place to visit during lunch. Many food options. I wish they were closer, will be visiting again. The ambience is great for family, kids, or just friends.

Visited here on a Saturday around 3pm and thankfully wasn't crowded at all and was able to make reservations 30 minutes before getting there. The space is cute gives me like chill lounge vibes but not a lounge, if that makes sense (I think it's the dark furnishings) Once we got seated we started off with the crab artichoke dip which had a side of bread, which was an 8/10 for me. We then tried two drinks, the Ashling and the Raspberry Bellini, both were delicious. For our main entrees we had the southern chicken sandwich, tempo tacos with grilled shrimp, short ribs, and the ashling cheeseburger. All were good and no complaints. The fries that came with the burger and chicken sandwich were fresh and so good, love how they do their fries. We finished our lunch off with the banana pudding and the beignets, which were delicious. The star of the visit was our waitress she was so sweet, quick, and just on top of it. A solid place to visit when you want a good bite to eat without dealing with crowds.

We dined here on 3/5 for my daughter's birthday. It was a quiet weekday evening and the service was great. We ordered wings, calamari, steak frites, chicken and waffles, and Rasta pasta. Everyone enjoyed their meal. It was a decent night out.

Crab dip is still good. The description for the gumbo sounded great but the flavor was off. I never had gumbo that tased like that. It was as if the gumbo sauce was an African stew of some sort. I got to New Orleans a lot and never had gumbo with that flavor. It was also very salty. The actually toppings were nice but the sauce is the star of the show and she didn't shine. Really wish they had their African around the world tour menu again because the snapper was excellent. I'm open to different cuisines this gumbo was just a Miss

Ashling is a funny restaurant, because it's so much cuter than what you think you're walking into from the parking lot lol. Once you enter, this spot is the cutest! A good location for girls night, date night, solo night just to be at the bar, etc. No matter where you sit, you are in thee seat! Their food is great too! My table of 2 had the calamari, wings, and French onion soup and let me tell you... for ME, the soup stole the show! Now that I know how it is on the inside lol, I wouldn't mind returning for a solo trip at the bar.

We recently dined at Ashling with a group of friends (6 people). We went in with high hopes after seeing the reviews and decor photos, but that was quickly overshadowed. We had a reservation and were sat quickly upon arriving. Our serve introduced herself and we order our drinks, 3 cocktails, a soda, and waters. About ten minutes went by and our serve came back to inform us that they didn't have the ingredients for one of the holiday drinks, no big deal, ordered a different drink and appetizers. All of our appetizers come out within about ten minutes. Still no drinks from the bar, the soda, or waters. About 30 minutes in we get all of the drinks. We watched the bartenders serve a couple rounds to bar guests in this amount of time. We chalked it up as a busy time, because the restaurant was fairly full but not slammed by any means. We eventually get to order and the food comes out, typical small issues but nothing to worry about. Quality of the food was good so that was a plus. During the meal, all of our glasses were empty for a majority of it and we asked to get refills, which our server eventually brought us. We finished eating and were waiting to order desserts. During that time one of our guests went to the bathroom and our server was standing just inside the kitchen texting, which explained why we hadn't seen her. We get to order desserts and they come out quickly, again quality was great! We all finish and our group wanted to order another drink before we departed. Our server couldn't be found. We end up deciding not to order more drinks at this point because we had already been there for 2 and a half hours between waiting for different things. We finally see our server so one of our guests went and asked her for our checks. About ten minutes goes by and still no checks, we went and asked a second time for our checks and finally get them. We knew based on our party being 6 or more that the charge 18% gratuity that it would be on the check. Our group has all wires in the service industry and typically tip well above 25%. Based on the servers actions, she knew she was getting the 18% from us so she didn't care about giving us good service. A dinner that was in excess of 2 and a half hours because of the service was shocking to say the least. Very doubtful that we will recommend this restaurant to anyone or dine her again.

Attended the Dueling Piano event this evening which I paid roughly $45 for two tickets. The event was said to be high entertainment, audience participation and a fun filled evening. The two pianist did no dueling at all; they did mostly duets or took turns taking requests. I was hoping to witness a musical battle. In addition the food was horrid. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with the mushroom risotto but twice my shrimp were undercooked literally gray lines still on the shrimp. When I asked for melted butter for my broccolini I was given cubes of cold butter. I then ordered the short rib having given up on the shrimp and the short ribs slow cooked would surely be done and savory however the carrots could not be cut with a knife at all. I returned the dish and decided to give up. My partner ordered the fish and chips but the fish and chips had a charred old taste as the grease was old and therefore the food had a Smokey taste. I looked at my surroundings and everyone pretty much ordered sandwiches and fries of which they left ample amounts of food untouched. As for the drinks the holiday margarita was mostly ice, very thin small glass and there was no edible glitter in it as promised per the menu. No beers on draft. U had spoke highly of this place after my experience with Chef Ahmad but since I regret I can no longer speak highly. Last but not least the grinch and Santa were the personality for the evening and carried the energy. The waiter due to me not having any food did not comp, send over a manager or right the wrong. I will not return nor recommend. Either do events well or food well; this event was a miss on both. We left early as the event was mediocre at best but also I was hungry and in need of food.

I've heard good things about Ashling from a friend and have been trying to get there for a while. I finally made it and I was pleased. The service was great: very friendly and fast. I loved the interior decor and the layout of the restaurant. The food was pretty great too. The wings were delicious. We ordered the Old Bay and the Sweet Thai Chili. Both were tasty. The service Breakfast Burrito was a solid option as well. I requested Breakfast potatoes instead of French fries, which is what originally came with it. My friend ordered the Chesapeake southwest omelet and I sampled some of it. We both agreed that it was just ok. It wasn't bad but it lacked a bit of flavor. Overall, it's a good restaurant and I would be willing to go back and try more dishes.

Yes they do. You can call ahead to hear the specials for the HH on any given day. Their bar service is good.

We walked in and felt welcomed immediately. The restaurant is unassuming from the exterior but when you walk in, you're in for a treat. We decided to sit at the bar, and it was just the vibe we needed. Low-key but friendly. Drinks: We arrived at the tail end of happy hour, which is two dollars off select drinks. We got two glasses of wine. Food: My husband got a Caesar salad and I got a house salad for starters. They were both good. I ordered the bacon and crab pasta, which was hearty. My husband got the salmon, which he also enjoyed. It's definitely a cute date spot or place to eat with the family. There's something for everyone.

Admittedly, the first time I visited Allison's, I didn't have high hopes - I originally wanted to go next door to Mamma (Nonna) Angela's for my Italian craving, but the group I was with was adamant about coming here instead. Well, I'm glad they did, because everything I had here was five stars and then some! From the bread, pasta, steak to the seafood, everything that graced my pretty little lips here was delicious (and served in huge portions)! I've now been to Allison's three times, and every time I come back, the offerings seem to get even better. I also appreciate how cheap the drinks here are - under $10 for a glass of wine outside of happy hour? Sign me up please! But seriously though, if you're looking for a solid spot to grab some yummy Italian (and American) fare while on your way to Waugh Chapel to go shopping, I definitely recommend Allison's Restaurant.

When I walked in, there was a very strong sewer-like smell inside the restaurant. I remembered noticing it before, but this time it was really noticeable. I'm not sure what's causing it, but it definitely needs to be addressed because it's pretty unpleasant. Several people around the bar were talking about it, and even the bartender mentioned that the smell sometimes gives her a headache. Despite that, I decided to stay and order food. I got a grapefruit crush, fish tacos, sweet chili wings, and the peel-and-eat shrimp. Everything was actually really good and flavorful. The food and drinks definitely delivered. Fatboy's is a great addition to the Bowie/Crofton area and I enjoy the menu and happy hour vibe. I just really hope they figure out the source of that smell because it's pretty off-putting and makes you wonder what's going on behind the scenes. Once that's fixed, this place would easily be a go-to spot.

We ordered a substantial meal for three people: two crab dips, one pound of shrimp, multiple cocktails, and a dozen and a half crabs. Out of the 18 crabs we paid for, 14 of them were completely mushy. During our initial exchange, the employees actually admitted to us that they had been receiving a lot of complaints recently for this exact same issue. While the floor manager went above and beyond to try and resolve the issue by replacing some of the crabs, the second batch was unfortunately just as bad. When we asked to speak to the owner, the situation deteriorated rapidly. As DMV natives, we know our crabs. Yet, this man came over to our table wearing gloves, began aggressively picking through our food, and literally threw the crabs back onto the tray at us while defensively claiming they were not mushy. When we tried to express our concerns, he repeatedly spoke over us and eventually just walked off mid-conversation, completely dismissing us. When I asked for his name, he refused, stating, "I am not giving you my name, I don't have to." To make matters worse, other regular patrons who witnessed the entire interaction approached us afterward. They pointed out a deeply disturbing pattern: that this owner does not treat Caucasian patrons this way, but regularly treats Black patrons with blatant disrespect. When he was confronted about this biased treatment, he outright said to us: "Don't come at me with that black people shit." We left 14 out of the 18 crabs we paid for completely untouched. No refund, discount, or accommodation was provided for the inedible food or the egregious hostility we experienced. While the floor staff tried their best, the behavior of the owner is utterly unacceptable, unprofessional, and discriminatory. I strongly advise anyone, especially Black patrons looking for a welcoming environment, to spend their hard-earned money elsewhere. This establishment does not deserve your business under its current ownership.
