We were in Puerto Vallarta for a wedding and ended up staying near Buceria. We were craving authentic Mexican mariscos and was told this would be the place to go, it's right on the beach and the food is fresh. We did go and we enjoyed our food, the portions were big and the fish was fresh but we did feel like the atmosphere catered more to tourists. My mother and I visited The Fat Boy Seafood on Monday, 1/23/23. When we arrived at the restaurant, a lot of the staff members were sitting down at a table chatting. We waited patiently and it took almost 10 minutes to be seated by someone. Next, we wanted to order oysters. It turned out that they were out. It was disappointing because we traveled here to this restaurant for that particular item. We even called the restaurant before coming. We've been vacationing in Bucerías for 8 years and this was by far the worst meal we've ever had. The calamari was uncooked, rubbery and just gross. The kids ordered kids quesadillas and the waiter changed it to the adult quesadillas that were $700 pesos and they were not good. After eating at the hotel with mediocre /expensive food we decided to finally venture off & eat the "local food ". We heard that Bucerias is known for seafood so we were excited to find out it was only a 5 min drive from our hotel. You car hear the sounds of the waves since this restaurant is beachfront. Everything else on here you should pass on unless you permanently can't taste anything lol. The other cool thing about this place is that you can seat inside our outside but on the outside you're sitting right at the beach which is cool. They take card and cash. The beach is beautiful , sand is pretty and the margaritas are solid, but we were not able to have even a few seconds of peace to enjoy our meal due to the vendors. I don't usually mind vendors, they're all around ! However, this location is especially bad - it was pretty much a vendor every 30 seconds. We only sat there for 20 minutes and had about 20 vendors come up. Food was not bad, but I wouldn't say amazing and we had to let the wait staff know a few times to check on our order as we only ordered 2 drinks, 1 ceviche but they didn't seem to recall that the order was placed.
