[[HIGHLIGHT]]Twice I have been to The Warfield and I must say, there are no bad seats in the house.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] First time we were here were for Baby Metal and most recent was Maoli. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Both times we were in the balcony, but since the venue has steep steps, you feel much closer to the stage than the other music venues around.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You sure feel like in a hot box when the audience are really into it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seats are kinna narrow though and so are the walkways.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The Warfield exudes nostalgic charm, with all the famous performers posted in their lobby.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Under no circumstance though, would you try to grab food and drinks in The Warfield though. You will unequivocally bend over with the astronomical price. Three waters and a beer, north of thirty dollars! Suffice to say, pre-game before the event; both drinks and food. Save yourself from expensive drinks and stale food and grab something to eat after.

In the past recent two weeks I went to Lil Tecca and UB40, both concerts were really sick and the artists performed very well. The crowd was super engaged and providing energy to the artists to keep going and performing songs.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is definitely one of the Bay Area's classic venues, with a stunning mid-century interior that feels like you're stepping into an old opera house. It has charm and character, no doubt.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]But once the place fills up with a few hundred fans and everyone's on their feet, it gets hot. There's little to no ventilation, and I found myself hoping they'd crack open some doors or have rooftop airflow--it was that stuffy as soon as the lights and music kicked in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] For non-drinkers, water bottles were surprisingly pricey, and the alcoholic drinks were pretty mild, nothing strong. [[HIGHLIGHT]]That said, I still had a great time chaperoning the kids to see D4VD and Bryant Barnes--the energy inside was amazing.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Now for the tough part: the location. The venue sits in the heart of San Francisco's Tenderloin district, and parking or walking to and from the venue is not ideal. We parked at the Hilton, about four blocks away, and even then had to walk through streets that didn't feel very safe, especially after 10pm. There were a lot of unhoused individuals on nearly every block, many asking for money or trying to talk to passersby. Definitely keep your safety in mind when attending a show here, especially if you're with younger guests. All in all, a memorable night--but I'll really have to think twice before attending another concert at this location.

One of the Bay Area's best, oldest, and funnest venues to hear & see live music, hands down. I first went to the Warfield Theater in 1982 to see my first amazing concert ever, at the ripe age of 12 years old to see Devo. Now, fast forward to 2025 and I'm coming back to see Garbage & the Cult (two separate nights). I'm now a golden 55 years old, and this place hasn't changed at all, still rocking & rolling, and still attracting the best musical acts, in a space where there is never a bad seat in the house, and the audio quality is the best around. Upon entering the Warfield from a pretty seedy & sketchy Market Street (especially at night), you suddenly enter a world of grandeur, history, and celebrity. All of the best musical artists in history have played here, and tonight was no different. It's been a while since either Garbage or the Cult toured, and I was lucky enough to attend what may be their final concerts here in the Bay Area. And what a venue to host one of my favorite bands! The ceilings, the walls, the rugs, and the stage still hold the history of this fine theater well. They've taken great care to keep it clean, comfortable, and beautiful, while retaining the glory of better days & historical times inside of this building. They've taken great staff here is very nice, efficient, and courteous. From the front door/security, to the ushers/seaters, to barstaff/vending, even the bathroom attendant were extremely nice, well-trained, and positive. All contributed to a night of great music & entertainment and made you feel like someone special. The service here is on par with a 5-star hotel or restaurant, and help to ensure that all music-goers have a fun, safe, and special time. The seats- ive sat high up, ive sat low down, ive sat far away, ive sat close to the stage, and every seat is a good seat in this house. No pillars, speaker towers, rigging, or obstacles to block your view, every seat in this house affords a good view of the stage. The sound- this space delivers the best concert quality sound I've ever heard from SF to Seattle to Austin to Las Vegas. It is loud, clear, and thunderous, like rock & roll should be heard. The lighting- they keep the lights where they are needed, on the musicians and not the audience, so it creates an intimate setting/feeling as you are watching the stars do their thing on stage. It really makes you feel like you're the only one there, and that the performance is just for you. The lighting team really do a great job of creating a nice ambiance & setting to listen to & watch your favorite bands. Not much more can be said about the Warfield. I love hearing music in this space. Ticket prices here are reasonable given the state of inflation in the Bay Area these days, and you really get the most of your hard-earned money here. They attract top-tier acts here, and they host them in a decadent, warm, and fun environment. The decor & shape of the theater really lends itself to a magical night here. You are taken back to a better time, while enjoying yourself in the present time. It is clean, safe, comfortable, all the staff are professional, courteous, and polite, and the sound, stage, seats, and lighting are among the best of any venue where I've ever hear or watched live music. Very accessible by Bart, Train, Bus, Rideshare, Walking, or even Biking, it's literally right in the middle of SF. The Warfield is and will always be, one of my favorite venues to attend for concerts. This place is legendary and will continue to span future generations of musical fans & aficionados. Top notch venue for top notch acts!

We came here to see UB40 and loved it! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The theater is large, but it doesn't feel large.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]You can see the stage perfectly even from the higher up seats, the sound is great and they have multiple bars.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The folks who worked here were lovely and I can't wait for our next concert!

AXS/Golden Voice is the greedy promotor venue owner. [[HIGHLIGHT]]All there halls, clubs, ect are falling apart.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They are always Understaffed. At a Sold Out concert over the weekend they were definitely understaffed. If you have reserved tickets forget about seeing any painted or lettering to show you the section. As for ushers there was one lady running up and down the walk way trying to deal with 1000s of people trying to find their seats. It's unbelievable they can't have proper staffing.

I have mixed feelings about the Warfield. It's in the Tenderloin district, though it's in a nicer spot there, across from a food hall/ikea. Probably don't wander around drunk after the show or do anything stupid and you'll be fine, but I wish the area was better. There is limited signage within the building. We couldn't find the entrance to the balcony seating, let alone our seats, and had to ask the bar tender. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a beautiful building that had been modernized well with a robust sound system and moving lights![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The sound system and lights were too intense in our balcony seats as we were blinded anytime the lights flashed, making it very difficult to actually see the show.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was a little nervous with the number of people jumping on the balcony, I could feel lit love a little![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, a cool spot for a show, just maybe not for me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

My least favorite venue in SF. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a beautiful space and service was fine[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] but [[HIGHLIGHT]]they seem to oversell events so we had general admission balcony but couldn't get seats.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Along with quite a few concert goers, we then ended up standing in the back and had to be cognizant of not blocking people who were sitting behind us.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Saw a couple shows here recently and really enjoyed them both! Public transit or shared rides are the way to go since there's not really parking. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Love the classic marquee our front and the framed photos inside showing all the past acts![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The balcony GA offers lower costs tickets but still a great view! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Since there are actually seats it's nice when it's not packed so there is room to dance![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The Airborne Toxic Event was amazing this past Thursday. The venue didn't really stand out to me compared to other event centers in the city, but it made for a positive experience, even in a not-so-appealing location of SF. Entry and security check was quick and easy. The bar on the second level had no line early in the evening, unlike downstairs, but service was slow. The diet soda I ordered was poured from a can and served in a reusable plastic r.cup that had instructions to return in a bin after use (r.world). The staff behind the counter didn't seem that enthusiastic about being there, but she wasn't rude. Got GA balcony tickets, and the worker in the auditorium said I could sit anywhere I wanted in the balcony section (upper or lower) just not the loge section which were reserved seats... she said I could even join the GA crowd on the floor standing in front of the stage. Cool, but confusing, wish they communicated that before ticket purchase. Might be cuz it wasn't a full house for this particular concert. The seats themselves were very basic, comfortable enough but a somewhat dated cloth surface. Lovely art on the ceiling of the theater, and the use of lighting on stage added great visual effects to the show. The sound system was not the greatest for the opening act, Brigitte Calls Me Baby. The music was rather echoey and lacked clarity. But that didn't stop the band from setting the mood with a few of their hits as well as a cool rock rendition of Careless Whisper. And sound check was extensive before the headliners did their thing on stage, so the sound was fixed, allowing The Airborne Toxic Event to put on an enjoyable show with an awesome setlist including some of my faves like Changing, Come On Out, and Sometime Around Midnight. One of the things I especially love about this band is the sound of the violin in their music. It was so sweet during the performance, a treat for my ears. And The Warfield offered a decent setting to ensure guests had a good time.

I had an amazing time at the Warfield. We saw the Elevators from Upper Lodge DD and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. The inside is beautiful so take the time to take in the views. The stairwell was super pretty with nice chandelier hanging in the center even. Inside the theatre there was enough of a recline that you could see well above those in front of you. Inside the theater is super pretty too so it really adds to the experience. There were 2 bars - one just after you enter and another at the top of the staircase. They had about 5 beers on tap, cocktails and wine. I got a mango beer that was pretty good (they also had a couple IPAs, Stella, and another I don't remember...). It was a tall beer and I paid something like $22 with tip. The cup was more thick/solid than other venues so that was nice. One bummer was there were no cup holders at the seat. However, to be expected as it is an old theatre (built in 1922 so over 100 years old). The venue was easy to get to (if you are already in SF that is) in the Theatre district of downtown. We walked there from the Hyatt Grand and it took about 10 minutes. There are 2,300 seats so it's an intimate venue with good sound throughout. I would totally go back. Cut back a star because the bathrooms had I think 3 stalls out of order so the line seemed to take a while. There were probably about 12 stalls normally. There was a cute little waiting area before you go in where the stalls were with seats and mirrors so that was cool.

Great Concert Hall. Beautiful venue. The staff were helpful and friendly. The drinks were tasty.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Lovely building and intimate setting for a concert.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Has the same feel as the Fox Theater in Oakland.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seats are a bit tight, as older places are but being able to see the artists clearly without screens is worth it.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The Warfield Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - The Warfield

Can I bring in a tote bag without it being checked?

Only if the tote bag is filled with an ample supply of hunky man spunk

Are we allowed to bring a small fanny pack?

Yup. I did and it was fine.

If I get a seat in the balcony can I still get up and dance? I want to dance but can't stand for the entire show.

of course u can! Have fun!

Is there a water fountain or bottle filling station onsite to fill empty water bottles?

    I didn't see one

Where are the accessibility seats located? Are they a good view or difficult to see from (and/or) nosebleed seats?

I got accessibility seats once at the Warfield. They were at tables right behind the main standing area on the orchestra level. Visibility was ok. It's somewhat elevated from the floor level. The tables are like at a right angle to the stage.

Does anyone know if GA Balcony has seating?

I just went to a show that had GA Balcony seating. The balcony is 100 percent seating.

    How are the ushers?

    They are nice

Are small DSLRs allowed? The website says "No Professional cameras" and this is a large point and shoot basically. Anyone know what they consider a professional camera?

Where can I park and how much is it?

There is street parking around the venue which is free. There are also a bunch of parking lots around which charge various fees.

Dose anyone know of any good parking garages near by that are good? (Warfield)

I like to park at California Parking: https://californiaparking.com/400-taylor-union-square.shtml…

Is there a different line for people who bought reserved loge tickets, also what time should I arrive if doors open at 7?

It's a pretty small venue. Everyone enters through the same doors at the main entrance. Access to the loge seats is like access to all other seats, it's just a special section. I'd arrive 15-20 minutes before the show starts depending on the…

    Does the warfield sell merch?

At all the concerts that I've been to at the Warfield, they did sell merchandise in the lobby for that artist.

It says "no backpacks" on their website, but a lot of venues discriminate between a regular sized backpack and a Camelbak. Are empty Camelbaks allowed?

No kind of liquid can be brought from outside so a Camelback-style pack must come in empty and filled inside. Otherwise there's a Coat Check downstairs for other items. All styles of bags must be opened and searched.

So is it better to get "reserved lodge" or reserved balcony"? I'd like to be close but also want a seat and plus I'm only 5 feet tall and want to be able to SEE as well lol never been to this venue and can't decide?

The reserved loge is actually the very front of the balcony, perhaps the best 4-5 rows of seats in the House, especially if you're shorter in stature. You could end up sitting at the balcony rail in the loge section.

What time does The Warfield close?

    When the event is over!

What good hotels are near this place?

Union Square is a very sorry walk away, and lots of good hotels are between The Warfield and there. Marriott and Hotel Nikko are two well known but pricey ones. Use a travel app like Hotel Tonight or Yelp reviews.

Does anyone know if we are allowed to stand or walk in the reserved seats area during the concert? Like maybe walk out to stand to where the staircase is to be closer to the stage? Or r we only allowed to stay in our seats?

All the events that I've been to at the Warfield has been strict regarding people to wander around during the proceedings. When in doubt, ask. The ushers are helpful.

Do I have to have a paper copy of my tickets or can my phone be scanned?

Yes you can have them scan your phone. Make sure that you have the barcode up beforehand so you don't slow the line down. Also make sure to turn the brightness up on your phone, it's hard for it to be scanned if it's dimmed.

It's within walking distance to J-town which is really nice in terms of getting food before a show…read more(most things are not late night in SF, so this is the play since after a show, most things will already be closed) and it is possible to find free parking if you have eyes that search and see. My boyfriend and I came here to see TK from Ling Tosite Sigure (real anime heads know - Tokyo Ghoul, Psycho Pass, etc. or if you're a fan of math rock). We got the GA tickets and waited in the line for the venue around 40 minutes before the show. We were still in the first 100 or so people in, we were in the line when it curved the corner near the other shopping plaza near the bus stop, so it wasn't too fisted when we went. This was absolutely not the case for the LA show, so the vibes in NorCal versus SoCal are completely different. Staff was welcoming (as best they could) and efficient in checking us in and security was friendly in what they had to do. Much better than some of the other venues I've been to. You have to go upstairs to get to the live house concert stage area. It looks very high end with the lighting, curtains, balcony area, and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. It's not as grandiose as say the Mayan (RIP), but nice nonetheless. We were probably 3-4 layers of people from the front, but was able to see all of the band members quite well and I was accidentally in the band's Instagram post (with my very funny and cooked back posture). Sound quality was great and really highlighted not only TK's vocals, but the technicality and skill he has on guitar (dude had to swap guitars between each song), as well as all of the support members (their support drummer from Crossfaith has such good stage presence). Nothing sounded too drowned out or overpowering. Good acoustics. The merch table was at the side and I didn't pay too much mind to where the bar was. When walking up stairs I was wondering where to go and loudly asked that question and a kind staff working the coat check in the opposite direction pointed to where to go. I think my only qualm though is the stairs that everyone has to take up, and more importantly down since it gets super crowded. However, they do have an accessible elevator for those who may require it or are ADA. What I love about this venue is the apples they give attendees. Great post concert snack. Sweet and crispy apple. I really love that they do this. And apparently this was the only tour stop that had a free poster with the artist playing too. Love that extra goodie for concert goers since I didn't purchase any merchandise. If there's a band or musician that I know is going to go to the Fillmore, I'm going to try to make the show since I really enjoyed it here!

1 Star - Awful Manager and Staff Experience…read more We attended the Alex Isley concert at The Fillmore and brought our 8-year-old daughter. It was her very first concert, and she absolutely loves Alex Isley. The venue was standing room only, but we found a small corner near the front where we weren't blocking anyone's view. Early in the evening, one female staff member seemed to have an issue with us, although every other staff member we encountered was friendly and accommodating. At one point, I asked a staff member if it would be okay to put my daughter on my shoulders so she could see the stage. He told me it was absolutely fine, and several other staff members nearby clearly had no issue with it. Later, the same female employee returned and began harassing my wife about our daughter being on my shoulders or standing on a bench that was not obstructing anyone's view. She made a scene unnecessarily and then escalated the situation to a manager. The manager arrived and was just as rude. Although I complied immediately because I didn't want to create a scene in front of my daughter, we felt singled out and bullied throughout the interaction. Ironically, other concertgoers immediately tried to help by offering our daughter space in front of them so she could see the performance. Even more telling, a member of Alex Isley's security team witnessed what happened, approached us afterward, and kindly arranged for my wife, daughter, and me to meet Alex after the show. That completely made our daughter's night and turned what could have been a very disappointing experience into a special memory. The kindness shown by Alex Isley's team and fellow concertgoers stood in stark contrast to the behavior of The Fillmore's manager and this particular staff member. Because of this experience, I will not return to The Fillmore and cannot recommend the venue to others. 1/5 stars.

We warmed up with a Hong Kong Hot Pot meal on Grant St capped off with Chinese Mai Tai's at LI PO The show was an amazing exhibition of male & female youth, eye popping physical beauty, great feet, balance, strength, perfect timing, ariel silk acrobatics, pole climbing & gymnastics, trapeze work, giant hula hoops, feet archery, contortion, energy, music, singing, poetry; as well as spoken SF history.... the 1906 'quake.... and tributes to the beats, writers, poets, lovers from Ginsburg to Kerouac Be advised! no breaks for over a 1 1/2hours....pee before the show! There was even a added act.... a gifted solo singer (sorry can't recall his name etc). His voice was superb... the song itself, done in a "musical" ie West Side Story...style , didn't really move me but his vitality was compelling! All in all, a fabulous night's entertainment & as Ryan, who was glowing, said: "I"m exhausted!" I get it.... watching all these pumped up glistening muscles sweat while their pores poured it out! my only regret.....I feel so stupid not to have seen Beach Blanket Babylon before it closed after a 40+ year stand at the club in 2019

I'm so glad we have the Independent for live music. It's a great smaller venue. We've seen Julia…read moreJacklin, Dr. Dog, Destroy Boys, and other artists here and it's always been great. When we saw Dr. Dog here, the band surprised the whole audience with pizzas and they were all passed around and we ate pizza while watching Dr. Dog. The sight lines are great everywhere and I have always been pleased with the sound. There's also a cool arcade down the street and the BBQ place across the street is excellent. I also want to say the staff here is like the best venue staff I have ever encountered. We had an issue a few months ago and each of the door staff were so patient and kind as they tried to help us figure out the situation and in the end it all did work out. They really weren't obligated to do that for us, but they saved our night. Thank you to the Independent staff!

Came here for Junny's Null tour and was pleasantly surprised with the venue and their staff. Staff…read morewas friendly, informative and very organized! Instructions were clear and the staff pre-checked everyone's ticket and bags before they started letting everyone into the venue. Staff also checked IDs if you were planning to drink and you get a bracelet as proof to show the bar. The venue/theater was decently clean and had a intimate and cozy atmosphere. Majority of the venue is standing only, with a few benches on the left and right. Near the bar is a counter table for drinks. The drinks at the bar were reasonable priced and they don't force you to buy water if you don't want to as they offer tap water on the side for free with cups! They also offered coat check near the restrooms and you can also pick up complimentary ear plugs as well! Restrooms were clean and well kept! The sound setup was a good experience. Parking can be a bit of a tough with the bars and restaurants in the area. So either come earlier to try and get a spot or Uber/Public transportation. Overall a great experience at this concert venue and hopefully they host more concerts of artists that I like in the future!
