I love the fillmore. I'm really starting to rack up the shows I've seen there. This time around we saw zakk Sabbath and black label society... love me some zakk wylde. I've also seen: L7, anthrax, that guy who does "the cliffs of dover," black label society (yes, again... on new years eve)... shit... I'm sure there were others... The cool thing about the fillmore is that it's general admission, so the tickets won't cost you an arm... and they have amazing, wheelchair accessible balcony seats upstairs. The staff is super friendly and accomodating. And there are tons of places to eat, before the show, in the neighborhood. The fillmore is definitely one of my favorite concert venues. read more

Why I like it: *The acoustics here are really good *The sightlines are decent, there are a few spots near the back that can be hard to see from during a sold out show but these can be avoided with some adjustments *Entering is quick and easy thanks to the number of staff they employ and the early communication of these staff members *Parking is nearby (and some nights free of charge). *The Fillmore has a great setup for merchandise and meeting the band without disrupting the flow of the current peformers *The bathroom being downstairs is also a plus as the lines, if there are any, won't feed out into the crowd like at some venues. This was my first time ever going to The Fillmore. I went to see The HU! I was really impressed with all the venue staff. Everyone was very nice and helpful, well ... aside from maybe one employee at the bar who didn't seem to care to answer my questions about the food, but finally did after way too much effort of repeatedly asking on my part. By the way, I'd recommend that if you're hungry, you eat before you go! The little 'food' they have isn't even guaranteed to be there and yeah, maybe you know this already, but my GOD it was expensive! More than $9 for a not-large bag of chips and a bit of dip to go with them. The dip was hot, so that was nice! Of course, eating this without a table can be .... drippy! Other than that one person, though, everyone else was really super-duper nice and helpful, thank goodness! I got to encounter the bag-check guy because I'd brought in a backpack, not knowing that wasn't allowed. I'm glad I got out all my essentials and had them in my jacket pocket so I didn't have to go fumbling through my bag to get them out when it was put away for the duration of the show. I found out, also, that you can't even have one sip of water in the venue if you bring it in from outside (Yes, of course, I do mean if someone sees you doing it or hears of you wanting to do it in advance of your ... not ending-up doing it!) I said I was going to take a sip of my water and was told, essentially, "Nope! You're not!" It was worded more nicely than this, though. This aspect -- niceness -- is huge for me. I've had issues and difficulties with other venues in D.C. -- yes, this is Maryland, so maybe people are nicer at venues in Maryland, but in this area I'd encountered some problematic workers at both Lisner and The 9:30 Club/ Nightclub 9:30 -- staff just attacking me for no reason when I wasn't bothering anyone, but nevertheless I was attacked by staff and so to be somewhere where nothing like that happened and I felt safe was a huge relief! Thank GOD! It's way more of what you'd want in a club-like experience than what I experienced at those other two. I guess most people won't want to do this because it could be a gamble, but just FYI, if you buy your ticket/s in person, you save on the fees you have to pay buying it/ them online .... That's what I did! I prefer the adventure and fun of buying in person! You can do that in advance, too, I suppose -- but I bought mine the night of the show, once it had already started. If you want to upgrade your experience, that apparently has to be done in advance. I didn't ask about it while there to make sure, but that's what I read online before going. It seems the 'Live Nation VIP' section is what that upgrade is. Apparently, they have a bit of more 'real' food (though I didn't think it sounded great enough, necessarily), and ... tables! Plus, it's directly across from the stage -- well, kind of. It's across from and way above it, upstairs. Most of the seating here ... isn't. It's standing room only. There are a few seats upstairs for people who need them -- you need to call in advance to secure one. The seats are thickly-cushioned and do not move. They're heavy metal chairs that fold down and up, but are securely attached to the low wall behind. Another thing that impressed me about this particular show was that the audience members were all super-kind. Everyone was smiling and welcoming! It's amazing how many really genuinely nice experiences I had with others at this show. As I heard another attendee say afterwards, there was a lot of diversity at this show that you don't see at a lot of other (I'm guessing she meant heavy metal) concerts. This diversity was showcased in a very visually accessible way through not only smiles and different dancing styles, plus arms waving in a welcoming way, encouraging one to go where they wanted, but also in the attire of the attendees. I've never seen such beautiful garments at a concert! Most people wore the more usual-for-metal-concerts mostly all-black attire but those who didn't wore some really bright fun things -- and then there were the gorgeous embroidered, brocade, silken and more in some cases traditional and in some cases modern absolutely gorgeous eye-feasts! In that way, it was more like going to see the Dalai Lama or another figure than a rock band. And The HU are great figures! The light show was really cool, and there was a huge screen behind the band showing images and lyrics. There are televisions situated on the balcony so you can see what's going on onstage in case you cannot get the full picture by looking directly from your seat or (standing) station. The hand dryer in the bathroom is the loudest I have ever heard! It was so surprising, it overtook my ears. Other than that, the bathrooms are pretty nice -- not great, but probably pretty great considering how many people must be using them close together (time-wise) and all that. I had a much smoother and nicer experience here than I expected. I came for the sold out concert by MIKA. The line to enter the theater was long, but the security and admission process were surprisingly efficient and well organized. The staff clearly knew what they were doing and handled the large crowd professionally. I would definitely recommend checking their website beforehand to see what items are allowed inside. My seat was in the balcony section on the second floor, and it was quite comfortable. I was also impressed by the security staff on the ground floor. They stayed attentive to the audience throughout the show, handed out water and earplugs, and helped people when needed. The opening DJ was unfortunately pretty underwhelming and felt more like excessive noise at times, but the concert itself was fantastic. The lighting and sound quality were both solid, and I had an amazing time overall. I especially loved how intimate the venue felt and how close the audience could be to the artist, making the interaction feel more personal. There is also public parking a few blocks away from The Fillmore Silver Spring, which made getting there convenient. They also sell food and drinks inside, although we skipped them this time. read more

I've been here a handful of times throughout the years. The Fillmore is a great intimate venue. Everything was organized and reminded me of how the IMP concert venues operate. Due to the small size, pricing is much more affordable than those arena-sized venues. Unless you get reserved balcony seats, it's general admission, standing room only. (I believe there's also standing room behind the balcony.) Pros: - You are allowed to bring a bag (but you can breeze through security a lot faster if you don't). They did a bag check and then I got wanded separately. - There was clear communication from the venue leading up to the event. They sent several emails clarifying the seating, bag policy, ticket entry, parking, etc. - Staff was outside during the line-up process to keep things orderly, make announcements about prohibited items (no food and drink, no Sharpies, etc.), and to make sure people were in the right line. (They have the fast lane and the general admission line.) - There's plenty of garage parking in the area and the venue is easily walkable from Silver Spring metro. It's a great location right on Colesville Road with lots of dining options before and after the show - Outside food and drink is not allowed, but they have complimentary water stations to stay hydrated. They also handed out water cups to those close to the front in between sets. - I only checked out the bathrooms before the event, after doors opened. There were plenty of stalls and it was clean. They have bathrooms both on the balcony and basement levels. - Security was on it. During the show, they were quick to point out violations (e.g., professional photography and sitting on shoulders) and they were there to catch crowdsurfers at the front for safety. - Floor was clean and not sticky! Cons: - Crowdsurfing at some of the shows that I go to is kind of inevitable, but some security members handled it better than others. One would point it out early so that the crowd could expect it and adjust accordingly... other team members just left you to your own devices to keep checking behind you to make sure you don't get kicked in the head - Audio mixing wasn't great at times, but maybe I was standing too close to the stage - This isn't really against the venue (more the clientele), but during the concert, people can get pretty trashy and litter on the floor instead of finding a trash can/recycle bin for their empty cups and cans They definitely prioritized the fast lane, so if being at the front is important to you, then you should splurge for the fast lane (if you didn't already splurge on VIP - these people get first access). I got in line maybe 20 minutes before doors opened, and the line was already wrapped around the corner of the building. If you get there when doors open, you can get a pretty good spot close to the stage. General admission might not be so great if you're short, but you can always readjust and try to find a better vantage point. Get ready for fun times at The Fillmore! read more

The comps to 9:30 Club make sense because the venues have similar layouts and sizes, around 1,200 - 2,000 people. Both are nice venues to see a show, but I slightly prefer Fillmore. They are in a great location, near the Silver Spring metro, and steps from Silver Spring's main square, so it is so easy to get a nice meal at somewhere like Doghaus and then walk over. The space is clean, spacious enough to fit crowds without feeling crushed, and they have multiple bar/concession stands that move pretty quickly. They also offer beer/shot combos, which is cool to find during a concert. It is standing only, unless you buy advance VIP tickets, where you get seated upstairs on the balcony. I prefer standing up on the balcony around the side, which gives you a nice overhead view of the stage. Another key for a concert venue: the entry is very smooth. Lines are generally pretty short and move efficiently. They also put water out near the bathrooms, though it typically runs out pretty early in the shows. I wish they would be better about keeping them full. I have seen several shows here, including Amber Marks recently, Sean Paul, and Bomba Estereo. The sound quality was great for all of them. My favorite venue in the area is still The Anthem, which is unparalleled for location, cleanliness, bar options, bathrooms, and acoustics, but that venue is more than double the size as The Fillmore. For mid-size shows, this is a stellar option. read more

We visited The Fillmore to watch Streetlight Manifesto last night and had an absolute blast! Conveniently located within walking distance of the Metro, restaurants, and shops. I took the Metro and had dinner beforehand at a local restaurant, so I had zero issues getting to the venue itself--but I heard some people in line complaining about parking. Lining up was slightly confusing as we didn't realize that the general admission line started beside the T Mobile next door, so it was fairly out of view, but luckily a staff member was able to guide us. The audio quality / mix was great, but there was a major technical difficulty that cut all of the audio in the middle of one of the songs--this was resolved fairly quickly, however. Despite the above difficulties, I still think this is a fantastic venue for concerts. Security was constantly handing out water between sets, air conditioning was turned on to ensure no one was overheated, and capacity management for the floor was great and never felt too "crowd crushed." Security was also very alert for whenever there were crowd surfers and made sure they safely made their way to the front. Great care for the fans. The interior seemed to have a lot of personality, with artwork depicting past concerts and visiting artists. If you've ever been to a House of Blues, it certainly has that vibe but more personalized. We will definitely attend a future concert at this location! read more

I actually really love the Fillmore. The venue itself is cozy. I absolutely recommend the skip the line pass if you really want a good spot. We arrived about 30 minutes before doors were planned to be open and got a second row spot. Now, doors were opened 45 minutes after they were supposed to, and it was freezing-- that took away a star. Being so close to the stage meant there was no way out. This is why it was so appreciated that staff hands out cups of water to those in the front during the breaks. They also have free water at the bars, if you're able to get there. The VIP section is cute. The tables are well placed, and the food isn't half bad. Parking is ridiculously easy and cheap in a nearby garage. Just keep going up the ramp for long term parking and pay by the app. read more

I love this concert venue. It's small, organized, and intimate. I saw Tate McRae and Cameron Whitcomb here and both concerts were great. All of the employees were kind. It was easy to get to the bathroom and get drinks. The bar selection isn't huge. The bathrooms are multi-stalked and gendered. There are close and easy places to park. read more

Such a cool venue. I traveled from out of state to see Hayley Williams and I beloved this venue. It has a great location, close to restaurants and bars that you can go to. The ambiance and vibes of the venue are incredible. The team is great, we unfortunately had an individual get sick during the show and they acted swiftly and with compassion. read more

We had an excellent experience at The Filmore! We drove up from the Central Virginia area to see Devin Townsend on May 10. Everyone we encountered was pleasant, from the lady who carded us for the 21+ wristbands, to the bartender upstairs, as well as the young man who was checking us in to our balcony seats. The venue was clean, balcony seats were small but clean and comfortable. We saw security offering water to fans who were stage-front. The sound was great. There beverage options were canned beers and cocktails, and sadly gross tasting diet coke lol. There is a limited menu with things like warm pretzels and hotdogs. We really liked the venue and would definitely return. read more

Returned for another epic show!! And this time, I skipped coat check and got food at the bar. I wish they could do something to adjust the traffic for the coat check, because it goes right into the bar area. When my friend and I came downstairs, the bar looked so chaotic, just to find out that everybody standing there was for the coat check. We were able to easily waltz to the bar and order what we wanted. The tacos were tempting, but they only had beef and I am reducing red meat as much as possible these days. The bartender was super friendly too. The performance itself and the stage were as great as ever. Sound was on point, and, in this instance, it was wonderful to see such an engaged crowd. Soca will do that I suppose. Glad to see that the Fillmore is still doing great, and whenever there's someone I want to see I won't hesitate to go at this location... Unless I want to sit. Then again, you can see the stage on the TV that's at the bar. How cool is that?? read more

This is the only venue I will go to very accommodating well organized never had a problem, even if I went by myself saw Shoreline Mafia in September and it was one of the best shows I have seen in my life. Very clean, and spacious venue. It was the first venue where I felt so safe in. The lines moved quickly, they have a separate line for bag checks. There's two bars on each side of the stage. The balcony has seats, the floor is just standing space and although it can get hot, they keep the venue cool as well. The floor was not sticky so my shoes were protected. It was surprisingly clean! The bathroom and coat check ($5) is on the lower level. The bathrooms were clean and stocked. The sink and mirror area were large and nice for touch ups. There's a cute mirror by the stairs for pics. The downstairs bar has booths and a tv that broadcasts the live stage. Drinks are EXPENSIVE!! We ordered 7 green tea shooters and we were charged $99.90! For parking, there's free public parking on weekends on Cameron and Fenton, one block away from the Fillmore. There's plenty of spots and it's bright and safe. read more

Good venue close to my apartment. I have been here twice, once nine years go for a fake Bernie vs. Trump debate and again a year and a half ago for a Taylor Swift tribute show with my wife. My wife and I came here last night (for the first time) to see Thee Sacred Souls. We purchased seats on the front row of the left balcony, but as soon as we sat we realized our seats were behind a huge speaker, and we wouldn't be able to see the show. We walked back up to the guy who let us in our section and told him the issue and he gave us 2 options. 1.) Wait until the main act comes out and then switch to an open seat or 2.) We can talk to another guy about purchasing another seat. I wish they would've had better options since they obviously know that these seats have to be the worst in the house. You're right over the stage, but can't look down to see the acts. We ended up upgrading to the second row balcony which sat us center stage with only the seat in front of us having a better view and having a great time. There was a server in our section that ran drinks and food during the show. I just wish there was some kind of warning about the seats behind the black speakers because obviously no one would ever purposely buy those seats. Outside of the seating debacle we had a great time watching an amazing performance. The opening band LA LOM got the crowd pumped up with there set and Thee Sacred Souls brought the house down. As for the venue theres standing and obviously balcony seating. I don't have the patients for standing room, but everyone seemed to be having a good time. The lead singer kept jumping in and out of the crowd and they also handed out the set lists after the show ended, so those are obvious perks that will never happen for the balcony. Overall I liked the venue, and i'm already making plans to come back for more shows. Now that I know what I know I can plan accordingly for future visits. read more

One of my favorite concert venues in the DMV! Smooth and quick process to get in and out and staff is always friendly and efficient.

I don't get cold easily but it was FREEZING. Their HVAC was on full blast blowing cold air the entire time; it's on the ceiling so there wasn't anywhere I could stand to escape it. Really made the show hard to enjoy and I was on the verge of leaving despite wearing a hoodie. Several other people in the crowd were also shivering. I did talk to one of their staff about this and they told me it should switch to heat soon (that never happened). It would've been a lot easier to tolerate if they just turned the fans down so it didn't feel like I was in a wind tunnel. Also seems like they need to adjust the bass. It seemed overly pronounced to the point the performing artist made a comment about it messing up her vocals. read more

Creepy, overbearing, sexist security ruined the evening and caused us to leave without seeing the show. Only women were being searched - and made to strip off outer layers, purses had every zipper opened, every Altoids can was opened (like a pill can't look like a mint?). Security manager threatened to surveil us throughout the concert and throw us out, so we just left. Never going back to the Fillmore again. read more

It's also always clean when I arrive (and trashed after a concert -- which is expected lol). I don't order drinks from places like this though, because they're overpriced everywhere. read more

My rating vacillated between a 4 and a 5--I'm going with the full "5" because I enjoyed myself so much here, but I'll note things that for others might lower that rating a smidge. I saw 3 shows in a week here while visiting the area (April 2024). The shows ran a gamut of variety (Blind Guardian and Night Demon - metal; The 502s and Daniel Nunnalee - Americana/jam; The Veronicas and Jessie Jo Stark - pop) and the sound quality for all 3 shows was fantastic. Clear vocals, no feedback, great highs and lows (audio). The main section is standing room only with direct views of the stage from pretty much any point in the room. There are some seats and tables available on the balcony for a higher ticket cost. The service was friendly every night and the entry process quick and efficient. Though not in their control, the crowds were great for all of the shows I saw, so this greatly enhanced the experience. Everyone was into it, no one shoved or fought for space, and the bouncers had no reason to eject anyone as far as I can tell. The space and atmosphere allow for (sensible) engagement with the music depending on your style (from moshing to dancing to standing and watching). Remarkably, the bathrooms were very clean every time I stopped by one each night, practically spotless and it didn't look like a wait/line for either the women's or men's at any time as each is huge. Bars are on the main and basement floor and while the costs are expectantly pricey (plan to pay 14-18 for a tall (16-24 oz) beer, 22 or so for a "signature cocktail", and 7-15 for a shot/liquor (unless you add a fireball (5) to your beer purchase. Merch lines were long all the time but that just showed fan support and there's not a way to really speed that up. We stayed within walking distance at the Hotel Silver Springs which made this a 3 minute walk home after the show. I didn't see a lot of great parking options so if you're unable to utilize rideshare you may have to adjust plans strategically. Seems like heating/cooling is an issue for some--FWIW, the fans and air were cranked for one of our shows (the metal one), seemingly off or very lower for the second (the jam band one) so it was much warmer, and about just right for the third (the pop). read more

Super cool layout and love the inside of the venue, especially the backdrops behind the bar! Bathrooms were clean and all staff were very helpful, security keeping crowd surfers safe, passing out water cups in-between sets, checking people's tickets and IDs, and bartenders looked very personable and polite when I'd glance around. I honestly don't think I've ever felt safer at a venue than I did at The Fillmore and that's me saying that as a woman who went alone, in a state she's never been in, but has been going to concerts for 15 years. I believe there was a bar downstairs that may have served food (don't quote me on that!) but the bars had some snacks & drinks of course, for purchase! Would love to come out to the Fillmore again for a show if I'm ever in town!!! read more

I've been to plenty of concerts here and I've only seen it packed and wrapped around like crazy just this once and jammed packed inside to the point I was like yeah this is a lot of people for this venue and probably should have been slashed. read more

We've seen many concerts at Fillmore & enjoyed each event. Fairly easy to obtain parking, utilizing any of the numerous nearby garages/street parking and lots to do in the area (we often pre-game at a brewery, restaurant, or bar)- always a quick check-in process (tickets, ID check, metal detectors, & bag check) with friendly staff. Despite the big name, the venue provides a smaller hole-in-the-wall intimate experience, with their standing room only offering spacious great views no matter where we end up- (you can pay for premium seats in the balcony with seats/tables). Always an amazing highlight when seeing a super engaging band- Bouncers are helpful, right on being ready for crowd surfers & general crowd control. (have to note beverages are allowed on the general pit floor- so with a rowdier crowd you may want to expect getting a drink poured on you or having to deal with stepping in puddles or on empty cups-but this is typical) We've never utilized the coat check ($5) or drank on sight (average $10beer I believe) but we have always loved the amazing acoustics & community atmosphere. Will never turn down seeing a band we love at this great spot! read more

I attended a couple of concerts at this Fillmore location earlier in the month. It's much smaller than the Philly location, but it makes for a nice vibe. The sound is great, maybe even too great...stand in front of a speaker without earplugs and you'll feel it the next day! Check-in and security were a breeze. Drinks are outrageously priced, but I will say a single G&T was quite potent. Maybe not worth the $17 for a local craft pilsner, though. I dropped a star based on the lack of intervention from their security team when a very bulky man pushed in front of me during the encore when there wasn't actually room to do so. He flailed his full body weight back into me, which hurt, so I pushed him forward as a reminder that I was there. He turned around and pushed me back. I was nowhere near the pit, so it was pretty clear I wasn't trying to mosh. I kicked him in the shins, and per my boyfriend, apparently started screaming at him. Another girl pushed him away from me, but he continued to flip out, as security just watched. Not cool on any front. What was cool? Looking over and seeing the line of people around me just flipping him off. Very much appreciated. read more

Went to a Kirk Franklin, Ledisi and PJ Morton concert at the Fillmore - I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. We had floor seats but we had a really good view - not to close to where you have to bend your neck back and pretend like you're watching a tennis match. They do check for cameras so don't be that one person that has to take that long walk back to the car to put your camera in the trunk. read more

I came here for my first show the other day. I liked that they didn't have the clear bag policy but they did a good job checking bags and having security to ensure people's safety. The merch was right at the front so the line didn't feed into the main stage area. Bars on both sides and service was really quick with a ton of bartenders. Prices are bananas- 19$ for one tall boy with tip. Sound quality was good but one of the bands did lose sound at one point. It was cold in there so wear your jacket or use the coat check. Bathrooms were quite large and lines moved quick. read more

I go to a lot of concerts. A lot. I've done many general admission standing room only situations. Many. All over VA NC DC PA MD. This was by far the worst. By far. There were no instructions given by the venue about when doors open, when to arrive, etc. Based on other reviews, I got there an hour early. As reviewers said, there was a stupid long line that went pretty fast. Once inside, it was PACKED. And I mean packed. Again, used to crowds. But, I couldn't move, couldn't see, forget trying to get a drink. I just stood there sweating. I have no idea how early I would have needed to get there to get a decent spot. Maybe it would have been better closer? I don't know... But it was truly awful. I finally left early. I figured I'd already paid the money, may as well not be miserable. My advice to patrons: if you go, splurge for a seat in the balcony. Never general admission. My advice to the venue: sell less tickets. More people will buy drinks and might actually come back. Anyway, I'm sure nothing will change. But it was a really unpleasant experience. So maybe someone will benefit from this and avoid a bad situation. read more

We went to the Filmore in Silver Spring Md yesterday to see Backyard band play. This was my first time going to this venue. It was below freezing temperatures outside not to mention it just snowed days before. We had to walk from the car to the building. When we got there, we were in a line waiting to get in. They checked our purse and scanned us with the wan. Then, we had to pull up our tickets and they scanned them all while we were waiting in the freezing cold. Then, we went to a table to show them our drivers license and get a wrist band. Then, we went to another area to get another wrist band that had our seat number on them. We asked them if we could pay the additional fee to get a table and the guy told us he'll charge us $60 a piece for the table. We give him our card and later find out that the man charged us $70 a piece for the table. The building was so cold that I could barely enjoy the band. I was completely frozen. Almost everyone in there kept their coat on the entire show. I don't think they turned on the heat at all. My first experience was not good. I will not be returning to this venue. read more

The Fillmore is my personal favorite venue in the DMV. The venue is on the small side, but allows for a more intimate show with more fan interactions by the artist. The venue is set up with two levels, a GA standing-room-only first level and a second floor seated balcony, both equipped with a bar. Downstairs from the stage has a large and clean bathroom, along with coat check. Lights and sound quality are always great and have yet to see any sort of technical delay for a show here. read more

A midweek rap concert, maybe not the greatest idea for a momma pushing 40! But I made it through! This was my first event at The Fillmore and I definitely will be back for another. The venue is following strict Covid protocols. To enter, you either had to be vaccinated and show proof, or produce a negative Covid test. While I think this is awesome, how the venue communicated the safety protocols was done poorly. The information should have been posted out our tickets instead of the website. Many patron were not aware of this requirement, so they had to get out of line and stand in another line for a Covid test. Luckily, I keep my vaccination card in my phone, so I got I'm with no issue. Another safety protocol are the metal detectors, I which you walk through as soon as you hit the entrance. Always a plus to know you won't be physically harmed when you're enjoying your favorite artist's performance. The venue also requires mobile tickets only, which makes the process of gaining entry to the building a breeze. The venue is huge! It's has a basement, a main level and an upstairs with a few tables and chairs. I really wish I had gotta a spot upstairs with a chair, because the main floor is not ideal for hours worth of standing. Came here with my daughter because she wanted to see a Lil Tecca show. Don't get me started on how awful his "music" is lol, but as far as the venue - it's nice! There's a convenient Montgomery county parking garage about a 3-4 minute walk away. I only paid about $3 to park. The venue is big and has lots of security and clean bathrooms. I could have done without the stench of weed being smoked inside the building though. Is that even legal to do inside a venue? lol. They took safety seriously and made sure people weren't over top of each other. Overall it is a nice space for a show. read more

Not my first concert here by a long shot. Security, as always, did a great job keeping the crowd surfers safe. The band supported the security to keep things positive. The mask mandate, once in the doors, is not enforced. At all. Saw several people vaping and clearly smoking pot at the end of the show because I smell like my high school gym. It was at the encouragement of the band but people came prepared. I've seen this band there before and other heavy metal groups and it was not an issue. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would. The logistics to get into this venue are TERRIBLE! I went to a concert there last weekend with a start time of 8pm. We arrived at 7:30 thinking that we'd have enough time to get in and get a drink just before the opening act. Upon arrival we found a line wrapped all the way around the full block. It was a brisk evening in November so waiting outside sounded horrible but we figured the line would go quickly since they certainly wanted to get folks in to see the opener. Not the case. An hour of waiting in line and we get to the final block turn (of the 2 other turns of the full block). To come upon the reason for the massive back up and hour delay-they have one, yes 1 singular person checking the ID of every single entrant. Thousands of people for this event. Upon arrival to the front my ID was checked and a wrist band put on myself and my date and then shown to another line for the metal detector. Which of course went off and I was ushered off to another area to be wanded a la TSA inspection. They found no reason for the metal detector going off and I was finally able to make my way in. To find a packed room. With many many more people still in line behind me. Where the F are all these people going to go?! We squeezed our way to the bar, which was not sectioned off in any way from the event floor so people were squeezing by to get into the crowd and bumping in to folks with drinks all over the place. We asked what beers they had and he said "well, what we have left are..." and proceeded to rattle off some lager, some version of a white claw, and a Guinness extra stout to which he tried to assure me was the regular Guinness. Mate, I've been drinking Guinness Draught since before you were born, this is NOT the black stuff. So since they only had crap beers "left" We ordered two margaritas. Which were probably the worst drinks I've ever had in my life. Then we had to squeeze our way somewhere into the packed middle of the room. We'd missed the opening act completely and the lights were on as they prepared to bring out the headliner. Where we proceeded to have to fight for our space the entire night. People drifting farther and farther into our area until I pushed back to keep them from completely overtaking us. The venue is a nightmare. I recommend no one see a show here ever. I didn't even think to check reviews prior to buying tickets but as I looked through them just now, apparently this is their thing. They haven't fixed these problems that have been complained about for years. Fillmore, do better. Hear the complaints of your patrons. Get more people for ID checks. More options for beers. Better separation from the bar. And don't pack the space so you're squished up like an airline flight. I will definitely see the attraction that was playing that night again, he was phenomenal, but there is zero chance in hell that I will ever go to the Fillmore again. If you're reading this, don't walk, RUN away from this venue and if you considered seeing a show here, absolutely do not. Until they've publicly announced that they've fixed these problems no one should come here. read more
