The final video that they produced brought tears to nearly everyone who watched the 6 minute 'story'. This review is long overdue, but I need to express my sincere gratitude for the work The Film Squad did for my wedding. I had been a fan of Jeff's work for quite some time, and absolutely knew that I wanted his team to capture my big day. Going through the wedding planning process, I can definitely say I was stressed out to the max! Jeff was so professional and accommodating, and worked with me and my husband every step of the way. When I had random (and sometimes ridiculous) questions about the filming, what to expect the day of, or even about wedding planning in general, he was quick to respond via text, phone, email, even Facetime, and definitely eased my nerves. Since my wedding was in the San Jose area, Jeff and his crew stayed at my place the night before the wedding. Jeff had sneakily captured some pictures and other meaningful things I had up around the house, and included it in my video! This lends to the thoughtful and creative eye he and his team have! The day of the wedding was a complete blur, but The Film Squad did what they could to capture amazing shots, and did it in a discreet way. Sometimes you go to those weddings where all you see are the camera crew with the big, bulky equipment. Jeff and his wonderful team have been there to capture two of the most important days of my life. It's truly refreshing to work with someone who you can tell loves what they do. From the moment, we first spoke, I knew that this is his passion. He made me and my wife feel very comfortable and had an easy-going demeanor when getting all the shots he needed to tell our story. Jeff and Joshua were the most instrumental people in planning and executing my surprise proposal aside from my now wife. I had several emails and phone calls with Jeff to make sure that TFS was the right team for my surprise proposal. Jeff traveled from Sacramento to San Francisco to meet me at the site and help me plan the proposal. I laid out what I initially envisioned, and he was very insightful. He brought up many things that I had not thought of, such as flow, lighting, and how certain structures/backgrounds would make a more dramatic impact on the surprise and video. We came up with a new plan together, and stayed in close contact with me until the day of. He got in contact with a couple of my friends who were helping me organize the event and orchestrated the entire thing while I drove my soon to be fiancée over. A couple unexpected hiccups came up, but Jeff was calm and rolled with the punches. He made sure I was ready and calmed my nerves while prepping me with the mic. Jeff came up with cool idea for shots, and got a ton of great footage. He was even nice enough to take some professional photos. He gives great direction, and has an eye for making things look good. If I had to choose one word to describe Jeff, it would be storyteller. He chose the perfect music and sound bites that effortless flowed with the video. He discussed the shots, pace and worked with us on direction and feel. He really made sure that we got exactly what we wanted. Jeff, Izzy & Vicky documented moments of my wedding in a way that I wasn't even able to comprehend while it was happening. If I were to give any advice to a couple before their wedding, it would be to slow down and take it all in. Everything moves at the speed of light, and it will all be over before you know it. It was all too overwhelming for me, and I didn't realize how fast the day flew by. Thank goodness Jeff & The Film Squad was there tirelessly filming every detail of the day. They gave us an inside look at our friends, family and the venue while my wife and I were busy taking photos. He was referred to me by a dear friend, and when I checked out their work- I knew right away that... 1. a videographer is a must 2. I was planning my company's anniversary hair/fashion show and it was never a matter of even having to do any additional research as to who I'd use as my videographers. This was a big milestone for us and I wanted to make sure everything was captured. I've seen Jeff & his team's work before and I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed in whatever they produced. I called Jeff and let him know about what I was planning (it was still a couple months away at this point) -- he was currently working on a film project and didn't get back to me right away (but he apologized and sent me cute bunny pictures, so it's all good). Once all was contracted and done we were good to go! Jeff texted me about a week before the event and said he was going to be attending Sundance so he'd send his team to film in his place (I'm expecting boba & additional baby animal photos soon, btw) and he put me in contact with Khoa and Izzy. KHOA AND IZZY ARE AWESOME. Khoa was constantly in contact with me and asking me exactly what I wanted to include in the final video. On the day of the show, they were punctual and ready to go! Let me just start off by saying The Film Squad documented two of the most important days of my life. The day my husband proposed to me and of course, our wedding! My husband and I have so much love for Jeff and his team and we absolutely need to share our experience. We felt extremely comfortable with them from the get-go, as they are such a fun, laid-back, yet professional group. Bear in mind that above all,The Film Squad is a team of filmmakers. This not just a hobby. They are true storytelling professionals and work super hard (yet make it look easy) to produce something special, enticing, and memorable for your event. It has been a year since our wedding and I have honestly put this review off because I was not sure it could give them the justice they deserve. They are just so. damn. good. Jeff and his team filmed our surprise proposal at the Music Concourse in Golden Gate Park. Please see my husband's separate review on how helpful Jeff was in orchestrating and perfectly executing the perfect proposal! After the proposal, my husband spoke so highly of Jeff and how he drove all the way down from Sacramento to do a walkthrough of the park and make recommendations for best location, lighting, time of day, etc. The final product for our proposal video was better than I could've imagined. The Film Squad perfectly captured all the unforgettable moments and emotions from that day. I can't watch that video without crying (and to be quite honest, neither can most of our friends). We are so lucky we had TFS there to make our memories last a lifetime. The moment I saw our proposal video, we were ready to check off one wedding vendor. I knew we were going to have TFS film our wedding if we were so lucky to have them available on our date. And lucky we were :) Leading up to the event, we had several conference calls to go over the events and timeline of the wedding. In true professional fashion, Jeff introduced himself to all of our wedding vendors in the weeks prior to the wedding, to ensure that everyone would vibe well and be on the same page the day of. As we had already worked with TFS before, we did not feel the need to give Jeff and his team much direction for the day of. We completely trusted their creative ability and did not doubt that they would create anything less than incredible. On the day of, Jeff and his team showed up early with positive attitudes and enthusiasm that did not waver throughout the day. We had several location changes and they did not miss a beat. They captured us just being ourselves (no cheesy, unnatural posing) and made a beautiful story out of it. For how much equipment they had and now knowing what type of footage that captured, I am not exaggerating when I say they are like ninjas. After seeing our video, it's amazing how Jeff, Izzy, and Vicky captured all of our wedding down to the smallest details, yet we barely noticed them the day of. Talk about smooth and stealthy! Although young, each are very professional and know exactly what they are doing.They have the talent and equipment of seasoned veterans-so I can just imagine the potential they hold for future projects. Jeffrey Fong and his crew are complete professionals and exceeded my own vision of video project. We worked together on a unique project where he would help me convey one of my spoken word poems through video. Jeff was diligent and communicative in working with me on my video from the start to the 2nd, 3rd, 4th draft of the video. He was incredibly receptive to my feedback and critiques while balancing it with his expertise and specialization. He gathered the resources and people necessary to complete the ambitious vision. This review is long overdue! Jeff & The Film Squad captured our wedding in SF in May 2015 and created the most beautiful documentary of one of the best days of our lives. I have to admit that when we started our wedding planning I was sure that a videographer was an unnecessary luxury. This changed as I learned that two close friends and one of my favorite uncles could not attend our wedding. After watching Kevin & Maggie's gorgeous wedding video I realized this would be the perfect way to share the day with those that couldn't be there. I had no idea how special the film would be and how much my husband and I would cherish it. We met with Jeff who took the time to get to know my husband and I while discussing our wedding plans and answering our questions. We mentioned sentimental details that we hoped The Film Squad could capture but left the art direction and planning to Jeff & the squad. Best decision ever. Jeff also took the time to coordinate with our wedding planner and photographer to ensure that things went smoothly. Jeff, Izzy, & Vicky arrived on our wedding day with the professionalism and talent of a Hollywood film crew but the grace and ease of long time friends. Jeff and his team did an amazing job filming our wedding in South Lake Tahoe December 2016. They are very professional, easy to work with and are simply amazing at what they do! We couldn't be more pleased with how our wedding clip and home video turned out. They were able to capture all the details of the day, small and big moments and wove it all together to tell the story of us joining in marriage. Will (my husband) and I wish we could relive our wedding day all over again but since we can't, being able to watch it on video is the next best thing! Wow what can we say about Jeff and his team - they were awesome, very accommodating and easy to work with, and just experienced. Usually finding a photographer and videographer is a stressful process (or so I hear from other folks) but for us it was an absolute cinch since we were fortunate to hear about TFS from other friends and indeed from the first time we spoke, my wife and I looked at each other and grinned since we knew we found ours! On the wedding day they were very diligent about setting pictures up and recommending shots for us. We had our wedding at the Asian Art Museum which was the first time TFS shot there, and even though they were in Sacramento, they were willing to come down and scope it out beforehand. Our main wedding coordinator / catering company was impressed with TFS' professionalism. Lastly I think we really appreciated that Jeff's team went out of their way to sort of "calm" us down the day of the event and everything went very seamless. We recommend them to anyone who wants an integrated photo/video service for their wedding. We hired The Film Squad to cover a film festival last year and Jeff and his team were amazing and perfect. This review is long overdue. They really went above and beyond, capturing video footage and amazing photographs we have been repurposing for marketing our other events ever since. They mapped out a schedule for us that included all the works: panels, meet and greets, interviews with celebs and attendees, b-roll, and were able to accommodate all the last minute changes and miscellaneous "must capture" moments that really showed the heart of the event. The Silver Scream Film Fest was one of the most fun events for filmmakers we have ever put on and I'm glad The Film Squad was there to capture it all.
