Wow wish I read the reviews before we stopped in! I agree the owner is a slick thief! Offered to ship items to us because we were traveling. Surprise, surprise my package showed up missing 3 items, including a dress coming directly from the designer to my home. I called and e-mailed right away. I received an oops we forgot to ship the dresses we will send out the dresses and check on the status of the dress from the designer e-mail. I received the 2 dresses from the store, but was never offered an update on the dress from the designer. When I pressed further for an update I received an e-mail stating it must have went to another store. Did I want to chose something else? This is when I knew the entire thing was a scam and the dress was never coming from the designer. Of course radio silence when I said that I wanted a refund. Fortunately, I have a fantastic credit card company that is disputing the charge along with an e-mail trail. Also filed a claim with the better business bureau and a police report. Something tells me this isn't the first time he's played this scam! read more

My wife and I always find nice items here, and my wife in particular has purchased a few beautiful dresses for more formal events like weddings, etc. Michael is very friendly and helpful. Their new location on Western is really cool and is attached to Michael's wife's interior design shoppe. You know how an experience in a store can be made or broken if the service sucks? Michael at the Finerie knows what's up! My friend and I were on a shopping spree downtown and were greeted very warmly at the door. This 800 or so sq ft store isn't huge but the selection is definitely worth checking out. They've got men's clothes, women's clothes, accessories like scarves, jewelry, purses, and even shoes! Yes - all in that small store! It's not cluttered either, so no worries there. Everything is high end and a lot of the cuts and style appear to be European. The Finerie is a great store to find an awesome addition to your wardrobe without worrying that someone else will have the same piece. My friend bought a light men's jacket and the price was insane! I expected it to cost nearly 2x as much. He walked out with a great jacket for a great deal. During our shop we also learned that the Finerie serves cocktails during the afternoons on weekends. If you aren't tempted enough to go there to find great clothes, go there for the drinks too! read more

So fine! That's how I was feeling after a visit to The Finerie. At first I didn't think I'd be so into the style, which at first came off as slightly European. But the guy behind the counter, Michael, who turned out to be one of the owners, knew how to lay on the charm. The end result was the purchase of a Civil Society jacket that reminded me of something Members Only would do if they were actually cool and self aware. Michael told my friend and I that they're always doing parties in the store, and serve up cocktails for customers on weekends. I usually shy away from high end boutiques since I hate getting dirty looks from sales associates. My friend and I randomly passed by it so she dragged me in. Michael was very welcoming towards the both of us. He also informed us about the items they carry and even told us to come back on a weekend since they serve cocktails. An expensive boutique with bizarrely rude, high-pressure customer service. What a terrible experience! It was all smiles at first... the owner, Michael, offered me sparkling wine and his employee was chatty and friendly. I complimented her dress, which she said they had just received that day and she herself had just put it on. She urged me to try it on, and it really was cute, but I hadn't been planning to spend $$$ that day and wanted to think about it. That's when it got ugly. The girl got more and more pushy, telling me I had to get it, that it would probably be gone by the next day and I was crazy if I didn't, what was wrong with me, etc. As she got more desperate, she became sarcastic, rolling her eyes and frowning at me while ordering me to "just buy it." She said they don't normally accept returns (!), but just for me, she would allow me to return it for store credit if I changed my mind. This went on and on as I was trying to edge away from the high-pressure harangue. It was worse than a used-car dealership! Well, that kind of forceful hard-sell is GUARANTEED to make me walk away, so I did. She sulked and wouldn't even say goodbye when I thanked her and left. The owner was right there the whole time, so I can only assume he's OK with this treatment of customers. It was such an awful, upsetting experience that I'm definitely never going back, and will let my friends and family know not to shop there either, as I wouldn't wish that kind of treatment on anyone. The Finerie is my favorite clothing boutique in Seattle. Every time I walk in there, I see multiple things I covet. Tanya is an amazing stylist and encourages me to try things together I would never do on my own, and it always looks great. Michael is just as fabulous, always warm and friendly and ready to help you. Their clothing is of great quality, and any problem I've had, they have fixed it/replaced it. I especially love their shoe & jewelry selection. Really difficult not to walk out with something beautiful. The men's selection is small, but I've been really impressed with the Moods of Norway collection they carry. I've been very impressed with the quality of the clothing I've purchased from them, both for men & women. Valet your car at Hotel 1000 and The Finerie will validate it for you. read more

The Finerie is a high-end boutique with an eclectic collection from around the country and the world. They take pride in having unique pieces that other department stores like Nordstrom won't even have (I hear there are even the occasional spy shoppers that come here to check out the goods!). I like to stop in to see what they have, you never know what you might find. I once tried on this beautiful dress for $500 even if I knew wouldn't be able to drop that much money and had to walk away. Most recently, I went in on another day after happy hour to browse... I tried on a pair of cool Fortune Denim Jeans (think fortune cookies!) from L.A., and a dress by Yoana Baraschi. Michael who was working, helped me and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. Initially I said no, but after he almost convinced me to buy the jeans, I asserted that I didn't need a pair jeans...but I have actually been keeping my eye out for a durable bag/purse cause I'm so over the backpack stage (I'm not in college anymore and I needed an upgrade without sacrificing bag space/fashion/comfort). He was on his game finding purses for me around the store, and I felt bad he was trying to find me a purse, since I was really almost about to leave to catch my bus... until he pulled out a bag I fell in love with. Needless to say, I ended up walking out of the store with the perfect durable leather satchel/purse with no remorse for the price. I could have gone to the typical Coach store or outlet etc., for a bag and pay the same price, but it was a great shopping experience and I found what I needed! Another cool story is that Michael said one time a lady came in looking really flustered and she was going on a date in a few hours and still didn't have anything to wear! He helped her find a dress that she was happy with and even let her leave some of her other items at the store to pick up later, so she didn't have to carry it around with her on her date. I'm sure it may not be the case that you can just leave your stuff there, but the above and beyond service for a customer is remarkable. It also impressed me that they had a few purses from Abaco Paris. I saw them while shopping in Paris and was kicking myself for not buying one at the time. But Michael keeps saying the refund will happen. Well it doesn't take a month to refund a credit card! It takes a minute. Buyer beware. Ever had the feeling you were being taken advantage of but things moved so fast that it happened before you knew it? Nice looking clothes. So we went in. Michael was super nice and chatty. But none of the dresses that we saw from the sidewalk had price tags or tags for that matter. First red flag. "It's normally x, but I'll sell it to you for y." "Oh, you both like something. When's your birthday? I'll give you and extra z % off." My intuition was kicking in at this point. Michael is very good at sales. He knows who to compliment and had my husband paying the bill while I was changing. All this to find out the dress was at Nordstrom's Rack. We WAY overpaid. Thank goodness that my daughter loves her dress though. But buyer beware. Oh and there are returns only for store credit. That was not a surprise when I read it on the receipt. Forgive us, Michael but from the outside we'd thought the place would be super tacky the first time we came in. We didn't expect to find all the wonderful stuff that we did and continue to find. Seattle is pretty drab clothes-wise but The Finerie really does source some colorful, practical, very stylish and not insanely priced clothes for men and women. Yes, some items are a bit steep but a) they are worth it if you care about quality, unique clothes and b) you are guaranteed to find something else that is fantastic for a surprisingly low price (but to be honest, they are not as pricey as Jack Straw--another great place--or Mario's). Sexy stuff, slightly Euro/LA and some red carpet zingers; the couple that own and run the place have wide ranging tastes and really know how to find great stuff for you. In fact, once they get to know you they will blow you away with their eye for what works. And man, are they wonderful people. Its a warm place, usually with great 80s music playing, sometimes drinks and snacks and always a good vibe. Thanks folks. Its definitely good to be regulars here. read more

So I don't know where to start-- They STOLE $154 dollars of my money.... I had what I thought was an awesome experience in store... But they did not have the dress in my size. So paid for the dress, and they were to ship it to me directly.... Except 6 weeks later nothing arrived. When I contacted them, they did not respond. Two weeks later I informed them I was canceling my purchase-- And suddenly they responded and were very apologetic. I thought, mistakenly, they were sincere, so I waited another three weeks for... nothing. I was at the limit of canceling the payment through my credit card so I contacted them again... They gave me a long sob story and said it was already ready to ship tomorrow. Long story short they delayed until I couldn't get my money back and I never got anything but lies from them. Lesson learned-- I will never believe retail sob stories again. Live and learn I guess... That said, I hope you now know the dishonest practices of "The Finerie".... What an ironic name! If you are a designer working with The Finerie - DO NOT agree to do consignment with them. They will sell your merchandise and you will not receive payment. They will not answer your calls. They will not respond to your emails (Tanya always claimed that they never received my multiple, multiple emails, but her assistant would always respond to me immediately). They will sign for consignment mail, but never acknowledge that they received it. (Side note, after reading the other reviews apparently they do this to customers as well! Unacceptable.) Some of you might be saying, take them to court. The thing is - it's not worth my time and energy to do so (and unfortunately they know it!). Luckily, I pulled my merchandise before they sold anything additional after not being paid for several months. I have been chasing a payment from them for nearly a year now. But I've given up trying to get money out of them. It's incredibly disheartening to be a fashion designer, especially when you have interactions like this. Tanya and Michael were incredibly nice when offering to host a trunk show for me - AKA when I was bringing people into their store to spend money. But the second that they had to be upheld for the consignment agreement, they disappeared. Please do not support these business practices and choose to shop at places that actually pay their bills. read more

Not impressed with their service. A man greeted us at the door very formally then proceeded to greet other guests who walked in a minute later and offer them water, wine etc and was much friendly to them. No real reason for it. I think he thought we are very young and would not be spending any money. Haha. Never asked how we were doing. Be very careful if you purchase here--the owners are EXTREMELY shady about their return policy. They say refunds fully accepted if returned within 7 days, but they will go out of their way to figure out how to get out of that policy. I tried to return a jacket and they refused because "of the economy." Not recommended at all...I'd definitely avoid this spot and shop elsewhere. Many other places in Seatle have better prices, and better selection, as well. read more

This has proven to be my favorite boutique downtown. Quality brands, some you have heard of and some you haven't, all in the season's latest style. Tanya there has a real eye not just for what looks good but what looks good on you. Not to mention she has been willing to go the extra step, I wanted a set of Ted Baker loafers that she had only in a different color, and she brought a pair in for me in the desired light blue. I have been delighted with the clothing I have purchased there, and always feel as if I look a little better when wearing it. If I could I might only shop here and Brooks Brothers it would be great, actually if only all girls shopped here I would also be delighted. I love their style for me. I went into get fitted for a fashion show that they were involved with and found so many fun styles that I would wear. The store is compact but there were a variety of clothes there to pick from. I was told that if I don't find my size they may have my size in stock just not on the shelf. Michael is awesome and knew exactly what I liked and the process of selecting the one I will be wearing was quick and easy. I don't go into Seattle very often because of the traffic and parking but I would consider making the trip because this experience. read more

It really saddens me to post this review. Michael and Savanna were awesome during my purchase of a beautiful coat I purchased Nov 25th, during a visit with my cousin. I was so excited about this purchase. And received MANY compliments for the two days that I wore it. Unfortunately, the belt that came with the coat wore down to the point that it was falling apart! I could no longer buckle the belt. I took it back on the second day. Michael was there, said he would call the company that made the jacket and get back with me the following day. I have NOT heard from MICHAEL. And every time I call I get the voicemail (by the way, this happened the day before I returned the jacket - no one ever answered.
