We used to love going here for many years. But since the plandemic, we are not allowed to go. So we order takeout. unfortunately, it's no longer up to par. I ordered the vegetarian ravioli- 8 pieces in a very salty tomato sauce for $35.!! The pasta was undercooked and they forgot to include the focaccia bread it's supposed to come with! I don't know what's happened to Firehall Bistro. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants and we visited frequently with friends. When we first started going here over 5 years ago, food and service were good and prices were reasonable. The portion sizes were also reasonable and we always left well satisfied and full. The last few times were not as good but still prices will go up with inflation. Last night was probably the last time we will be going to Firehall Bistro. The prices now are astronomical and the portion sizes border on the ridiculous. We started off with a special appetizer of calamari with yogurt dill and cocktail sauce. This dish was $15.00 and the calamari came in a dish the size of a very small soup bowl. My husband had the chicken with black beans and linguine. This was in the priced in the mid $20.00's and he was still hungry after eating it. We've ordered the same dish at a favorite restaurant of ours in West Vancouver and the cost is under $20.00 and we receive twice as much food. Come on now how expensive is pasta and 2 oz. of chicken? I ordered the tarragon chicken and I asked to have their trucker fries substituted for the risotto as I do not care for risotto. Our server let it be known that my request was quite an imposition and they were doing me a tremendous favour by making this deviation from the menu. When my order came it consisted of the trucker fries, 1/2 a chicken breast and 3 (count them) asparagus spears. The chicken was maybe 4 at the most 5 oz worth of meal and did not even have the little drumette attached, that most restaurants use. If you want bread there is a $5.00 charge. They have beef tenderloin for $39.00 and rib steak for $49.00. If I'm going to pay $49.00 for a rib steak I can go to Gotham downtown and get better value. Dinner for the 2 of us with a bottle of wine and tip was $140.00 and definitely not worth the money. We have eaten at many fine dining high end restaurants and for the money we spent last evening have had really good food, good service and most importantly we do not leave hungry after spending the amount of money that we did. I will also say that we are seniors so we do not have vociferous appetites. Fries, 1/2 chicken (5 oz.) & 3 asparagus spears $26.00+. Shame on you. The ambiance is and the food was good. Very limited menu, the Terragon Chicken I've had twice, it's good, though can be small. First visit was great, second visit not so much. My beef is there's a huge preamble of sanitizing hands, and precautions, masks that we follow , but it seemed the servers (both) were always reaching over us, hovering uncomfortably close, crossing safe boundaries, and messy, dribbling wine (on my shirt) or splashing sauce while clearing plates without a 'sorry', very clumsy, it got rather ridiculous. So I'm saying practice what you preach and please be more careful. Our other friends won't return, but we will go again. I've read that the duck is supposed to be good, but I've never seen on the menu. Amuse bouche was appreciated, wine menu decent enough, servers friendly, and overall it has been good as far as food, but the front end needs a nudge IMO. My boyfriend took me to the Firehall Bistro in Pitt Meadows last night for our dinner date. I've always wanted to go there and it's within walking distance from our house so we finally took the plunge! It is an adorable intimate restaurant, small in size but big in character. It's very warm & inviting, as is the serving staff! Our waiter came by to fill up our water glasses and tell us the evenings dinner specials, which sounded delicious but I already knew I wanted the paella! Boyfriend opted for the ravioli and we also ordered mushroom caps & home-baked bread as a starter. I had the house white (delicious!) and he had a dead frog lager (also delicious! I love that brewery!). When our appies arrived we were quite surprised as they were both a little undersized. Don't get me wrong, it was extremely tasty but 3 mushroom caps to split between 2 people?! At least make it 4 so you each get 2! At $11.99 we did think the appy was overpriced for what it was, but again it was so yummy! When my paella ($19.99) arrived I was super excited! It looked amazing and tasted every bit as good as it looked! A healthy handful of mussels and one GIANT prawn filled me up quite perfectly. The boyfriends ravioli was a tad small though. I ended up giving him a few mussels and a scoop of my paella He got approx 8 ravioli with filling that was approx the size of a loonie (not those giant ravioli's you sometimes see). Needless to say, he was unimpressed. He's a big guy and really needed a little more to him entree than that. It was delicious but again, undersized for it's price ($17.99). All in all the Firehall Bistro has amazing food! I walked away happy & full while the boyfriend opted to supplement his gourmet dinner with two cheeseburgers from McD's! read more

Had a lovely friday night dinner there with a friend. Nice little intimate restaurant in Pitt Meadows that always has excellent food and great service. Was disappointed this time that there was so much pasta on the menu though...not usually a typical thing. I told them that they needed to add duck back on the menu, just a personal fav of mine. My husband and I met another couple to have dinner here. They had been once before and highly recommended it. Contrary to our friends' recommendation and the other reviews on Yelp, we were NOT impressed, nor will we return. The food was overpriced ($82 inc. 10% tip) for two skimpy dinners, one glass of wine and one dessert! This is Pitt Meadows afterall not Yaletown. My husband had the cod special and he said it was tasteless and he was still hungry due to the very small portion. I had the ravioli (small portion but ok for a light eater like me) which was extremely salty. The service was lacking too; my husband was half way through dinner before he could get the waiter's attention to bring pepper. There are too many restaurants out there to spend our hard earned money in for us to go back to a mediocre one like this! read more

I stopped in for some appetizers last Friday night 27 September 2019. Not bad atmosphere. The chicken wings were not terrible. However, the ribs had hardly any meat on the bones. Le pièce de résistance was the Calamari. As soon as the Calamari arrived, my lady reached over and picked up a ring of calamari by a black hair that was about an inch long. It was protruding from the breading. As such it was likely fried like that. The hair having been thrown in to the batter prior to frying. And no, it was not the only one. At least every other piece of calamari had a hair in it. No idea of who has short black hair there, or was pulling out their pubic hair and tossing it in to the batter. They are lucky we didn't call the health department. NEVER AGAIN............... read more

Looks are deceiving, this place presents well but unfortunately the kitchen can not accommodate gluten free. Recently had lunch there, requested a gluten free burger and a salad, pretty simple order for even the most junior staff. Less then an hour after paying the bill ended up with guts in a knot. Hidden Gem! One of the top few restaurants east of downtown Vancouver and even including Vancouver, they would be in the running. Small restaurant serving French food in a casual environment. I understand it's a family run business with the owner as the Chef, his Dad as the host and his wife as one of the servers. Take a break from the normal slop served at the likes of Joeys, Cactus Club, etc and you will be shocked at what you've been missing out on. read more

Pleasant surprise! Hidden gem of Pitt Meadows. Service was a little disorganized upon arrival but once we were seated the service was fantastic. I'm not sure if the gentleman was an owner but he boasts a vast knowledge of the food preparation and shows a ton of enthusiasm. Had the fish tacos. My lady had the risotto and chicken. I will admit the server sold the dishes a little too much and perhaps gave us too much of an expectation of greatness, but the food was solid. Great little stop for a quick date. We've been having lunch here more often to support them in this difficult time. We have always had excellent meals here, whether lunch or dinner. Let me start by saying that this review could easily be a 5-star, but due to several small things, it left a bad taste in my mouth. Food: All of the food that I had was great. I had the caesar salad for my appetizer, it was excellent. The only thing wrong was that the bread served with it was a tad greasy and a bit overwhelming. For my entree I had the roasted chicken with risotto and asparagus. It was excellent, the only thing wrong with it was there was quite a bit of oil coming off of the risotto, it felt very greasy. And for dessert I had the lava cake with ice cream. It was some of the best dessert I've ever had. I would definitely recommend it. Service: Overall the service was good. It felt like we had to wait a long time to order, it took over 15 minutes for our server to come over to our table. Overall though, after we had ordered, the service got a bit better. The incident that really dragged down my evening was the fact that the owner was very snooty and rude towards my friend and me. I think it was because we were young (18 and 19). He seemed to think that his restaurant was too good for us. We were both well dressed and we tipped quite well. So I don't see the reason why he had to treat us like crap. Also, He was using the same cloth that he kept tucked into the back of his pants to wipe tables, carry plates and bowls. I found it to be gross that he was using a sweaty rag to carry dished to our table. Also, the owner had an awful bluetooth hanging out the side of his ear the whole time. He looked like a telemarketer or a pizza delivery guy. Ambiance: Overall the restaurant was tastefully decorated. But, there was one very big issue in my mind that has to be taken care of. All of the blinds had heaps of dust on them. My table was right next to the window, so I had to sit right next to the dusty blinds. It was kinda gross. Price: The prices weren't too bad for the quality of food. But due to the poor service and poor cleanliness of the venue, I would expect it to be 10-15% less. In the end, I think I will go back. But I just won't be sitting next to the window, and I won't expect the best service. read more

Two big notes: Another couple went to the front door; turned and started walking away; then were surprised when we walked right in. They thought it was closed, and it looks like it from the outside. We have been for dinner here many times over the past several years and keep coming back for several reasons. 1) The quality of the food is AMAZING. And they change up the menu by adding delicious specials, both appetizer and main dish. Tonight the complimentary canapé was a potato/bacon soup I could have eaten three bowls of. I had the calamari special appetizer. Have you ever had calamari you didn't need to actually chew? Well now I can say I have. The Ling Cod was cooked perfectly as were the roast potatoes and green beans. The dessert menu was to die for, as per usual. And the blackberry martini is like none other. 2) The ambience - it is an 'intimate' place with just the right decor and volume/type of music. 3) The service has always been superb. Gord and Pip are wonderful - just the right mix of personable and professional. And they are good at remembering your favourite drinks/dishes, not to mention special occasions. 4) The location. It is not on a main street, so we've never noticed excessive background noise. 5) The prices are pretty much right where they should be for the quality. The freshness of the food is worth it. We have never had a bad experience here, quite the contrary, and we will forever be grateful for the friend who recommended it. read more

After hearing rave reviews my husband and I went out on a double date to the Firehall Bistro. The restaurant is tiny but charming although for such a small place I found it quite loud -- we had a lot of difficulty hearing our (otherwise lovely) server when she was trying to give us the evening specials. We started off with appetizers - the side by side prawns for us and a pot of mussels for our friends. We were pleasantly surprised with a complementary tray of bite sized pieces of pork shoulder as well. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the evening. The mussels went over well and the prawns were the biggest I've ever seen but they were rather rubbery and bland. For the main course each of the ladies ordered the paella and the men got the ribeye steak and fries. The steak was average, no better than something I could buy at the grocery store and cook at home. The paella was loaded with seafood but there was no depth of flavour -- it tasted like it had been cooked in a pot of stewed tomatoes with no other herbs or spices. All in all, we were rather disappointed and for the price we wouldn't plan on going there again. read more

Or homemade linguini with local soft shell rock lobster tail. Onion & gruyere tart with a pear/nut salad. Or butternut squash bisque with crab vignettes. Their 28 day aged rib eye will certainly make your mouth water. The food is refined, but honest. Each plate while complex, is sincere and rustic. Couldn't believe we made a reservation for 6pm. We arrived at 5 to six and could not believe the greeting we got from our waiter was that he would appreciate it if we could be done and gone by 7pm so he could have the table back. We thought he was joking but soon found out he wasn't. We told him we had made a reservation and he came back with well maybe by 730 at the latest. It was an instant fowl of what was to be a nice meal out. The mood at our table was changed instantly and we spent the first 15 minutes deciding whether to stay or just walk out. We would not return. This place is that hidden gem that you almost have to be a local to know it's greatness. The food is always delicious and the service is always stellar. The only complaint I have is the portion size. I'm not a person that eats a lot of food and the last time I left there I was still a bit hungry, mabye it was just the day. I ordered a starter a main and desert. I would think the average person may have a complaint about that. That being said, I think this is the best tasting food in the area. This place is a real treat. This is my favorite place for a date night. The food is just delicious. It isn't cheap but it feels worth it every time. The menu changes seasonally but if you have the chance to try their cloud dessert you must. It is a perfect combination of lightness and richness. My one complaint is about the acoustics. I've eaten here a few times. The food is very good. It's perfect for a dinner out with my gf as the portion size would never satisfy my husband. The menu is quite small and doesn't have many options for vegetarians. Although on two occasions the chef has created a veggie dish for my gf. Both times he was happy to do it. On one occasion the server was not very willing to ask. She said that she was concerned how the chef would react to the request. Weird. I always try whatever is on special. It never disappoints. This is not a cheap date night place. More of a quite adult dinner or special occasion place. They also serve lunch for $10. Very yummy as well. The desserts are always to die for so save room. If you don't have room go next door to the Other Guys Pizza (same owner) and get a couple of their $1 bite size desserts for later. Free parking is very limited. Doesn't help that the chef always double parks his precious VW out back taking up two of the few parking spots they do have. read more

The starter, mains and desserts were great, as was the wine and beer selection. Quality food and wonderful complex flavors. Worst service I have ever experienced. We went for lunch on my mom's lunch break so we had an hour. We waited about 45 mins for our food--which we had ordered at the same time as our appetizer--resulting in us having to take everything to go. There was one server and they had a few other tables, so I understand it could take a bit, but we weren't even made aware that it would be a longer wait. It also took 4 passes by the server to even pick up our dishes after our appetizer. My sister, who works in the industry complained to the owner(who is also the server) and he barely offered an apology or any sort of compensation for our ruined lunch. And now I sit here with cold food since I drove in from Vancouver to go for lunch and had to sit in traffic with my to go containers to eat at home. read more
