Looks like a peach until you break the artfully constructed shell and peach liquor oozes out - amazing dessert!

5 1/2 YEARS after moving to Pitt Meadows, we finally checked out the dimly lit Firehall Bistro - romantic, perfect, and with amazing food from start to finish - Lisa went past this place going to and back from work on the Westcoast Express - where's a good place to eat???? BLOWN AWAY!!!! Delicate, amazing excargots, best halibut ever, and a peach for dessert - OK not a real peach, a white chocolate thing that LOOKED like a peach, with peach liquor inside - a great meal from the moment we stepped foot inside!

Absolutely incredible food and wonderful service. So nice to have a place like this and not have to drive into Vancouver for it. Love it!

The food is beautifully presented and tasty. The focus on flavour is obvious. We had three starters: scallops, crab cakes, and the beet salad. All had accompanying flavours that were layered and that didn't over power the dish's focus ingredient. For mains we had the pork chop and a beef duo of short rib and tenderloin. Both were served atop vegetables and mashed potatoes. The pork chop had a delightful quince demi-glacé that was pleasing and a marvellous complement to the pork which was perfectly seared. The beef duo was terrific. And both were perfect, absolutely perfect in preparation and taste. It's a small room but it was warm and airy. They still have dividers up which was reassuring but not obtrusive. And the service was terrific. A young man, the owner's son seated us and brought us water efficiently and professionally. And our waitress was great; she remembered our order and we were looked after so well. Highly recommended.

The one issue is that the wine list is terrible for the quality of the food. Wines like Burrowing Owl or Bells Glos would be far better than these so called BC premium wines. Also a better sound selection would improve the ambiance. Have already made my reservation for next month! This restaurant should move to South Surrey where it would be much better appreciated! People still come in wearing ball caps like some side alley pub or Earls or Cactus Club. This plac e is far better than that!

The food is fine, as it should be at this price point, but not really worth going out your way for either, given the price. The other restaurant has has a rotation of seasonal dishes that tend to be very good. I wouldn't make the trip down here from Vancouver for the first restaurant, but I would for the second. I'm oversimplifying here since, if you get one of the standard dishes here, like the ribs, the ribs will be fine and they'll come with a selection of seasonable vegetables that are likely to be very good. But, why not just skip the fine ribs and order the dishes that are really outstanding here? BTW, if you care about covid safety, this place isn't great. The "outdoor" area is fully enclosed and not really different from being inside.

We arrived in time for our reservation, and the dining area looked nice enough. We were immediately seated, but unfortunately, it was a by a very large party, so we found it difficult to talk to each most of the night. We tried the following: - Pacific Octopus: OK. The octopus was a bit chewy, which means it was probably overcooked. I found the addition of the lamb merguez, although tasted fine, a bit confusing. I felt the dish had too many ingredients, and it muddled the flavours. - Beef Tagliatelle: OK. Well cooked, but didn't really like the five spice or the sweetness of the dish. - Smoke Pork Chop: OK. The pork was a bit overcooked, and the jus was far too salty. Service was satisfactory. We had no issues. Overall, it wasn't great. Maybe my expectations were too high. I often find hidden gems during my travels, and was hoping this would be one of them, but it wasn't. I appreciate the effort in designing their dishes, but I generally felt they were too complicated and too salty overall.

However, we really enjoy the food and coziness of the room so we have continued to make Henry's one of our regular dining experiences. We were going to make reservations for later this month when I noticed a line on their website saying that a 20% gratuity had been added to the bill. I thought that maybe it was a line that had been added on because of New Year's Eve or at that the prices on the menu now reflected the 20% gratuity and no further tipping would be required. My husband sent an email to Henry's asking them to clarify what the policy was. We received a response from Jasmine "20% will be add on. It does not refer only to groups but also to each individual consumer". Sadly, we will not be going to Henry's anymore. The food is very good but the prices are already very high. We were at a Seasons in the Park last night. Their prices are less than Henry's. The setting is nicer, service was outstanding and food is very bit as good as Henry's.

We walked into the restaurant without any customers. A server seated us right away. Her service was great knowing that it was our first time to eat here and letting us know what was special and what we should try. We ordered mussels with white wine, tomatoes and herbs as appetizers and our main dishes were Penne Alfredo and Linguine Pescatora. Penne Alfredo was just a simple dish of penne with white creamy sauce and Parmesan cheese, but OMG! It was extraordinarily delicious! Chef Henry could cook this simple dish so well that I could 100% guarantee it is hard to find such a good simple dish in Greater Vancouver. Linguine Pescatora was full of seafood (shrimps, mussels, clams, scallops, and calamari) in a light spicy tomato sauce. The seafood was fresh (not frozen ones) and the texture of linguine was firm and chewy. Everything was irresistible. We would love to visit this restaurant and try other dishes in the near future. It was worth a trip to come all the way to Port Moody and eat the pasta here. (This pasta restaurant was originally located in Vancouver West.).

Been wanting to go back (guessed I mentioned it too many times so got taken!). Absinthe Bistro is my favourite French Restaurant in Vancouver. Love this family-run restaurant and the chef has no qualms coming out from the kitchen to serve, checking on his guests or clearing plates. Down-to-earth, home like vibes here which is so reflective of small Bistros in France. Food is amazingly delicious, portion size is excellent, and offers fixed price menu which I recommend. As there were three of us, we ordered 3 fixed price menus. We got to sample three dishes in each section of the starters, mains and desserts. Loved it all but my favourites are chestnut mushroom soup, escargots, pork cheeks, AAA steak, lemon tart and chocolate lava cake (it's their classic and been on the menu forever!). Reservation recommended, pay street parking out front but there is free side street parking if you come early to look.

Based on prior Yelp reviews, my companion and I had high expectations...and they were exceeded with every course. The food was elegant and incredibly delicious without being fussy. We both proclaimed our starter to be "the best seafood chowder ever"...and we are in our mid-60s! Our choices of French wines (by the glass) paired perfectly with our entrees (halibut and lamb shank). The lemon tart and creme brulee provided a sweet ending to an extraordinary meal. All of this goodness served with casual elegance by our very attentive, gracious and graceful waitress. Might we suggest a simple and easy transition from paper to cloth napkins to elevate this dining experience from a 9.9 to a full 10. Thank you for a lovely and memorable evening!
