First, we wanted a reservation for a time and they requested an earlier time. We were the only ones there upon arrival then found they had extra tables even when more people arrived. Next we noticed the online menu was inaccurate. They didn't have the shrimp scampi and the prices were all more. If we knew this we likely would have gone elsewhere. Finally the service and ambiance wasn't anything special. They used paper napkins, the table/chairs were boring, there was no ambiance with flowers/music appeared available. The waitress was folding napkins by us. At the end weren't offered dessert and had to go to the cash register. We got the duck confit and braised beef. They were both tasty, but the beef was petite and duck a bit hot to eat with beans. With the poor value/experience we wouldn't go back. If only there was a feast here... read more

What an adorable out of the way spot. It is small but I was charmed by the young waiter and waitress (obviously family run). The soup of the day was Cream of Mushroom (my fave) and it tasted good but it was under seasoned. The star of the meal was the Short rib baguette, meat was tender with mushrooms and onions in a luscious Demi glacé. The side salad was fresh and dressed in a punchy mustard vinaigrette. I love French cuisine! The onion tart is always a must-have for me when I go to a French restaurant. This one did not let me down. I almost bought an entire pie home.. Great ambience and fantastic food at Tour De Feast. After researching a plethora of places to eat during my latest trip to Vancouver, and another handful of French cuisine contenders, I ended up deciding that Tour De Feast was the winner. We arrived near the beginning of dinner service, after 2-lengthy hikes. Wanting something substantial, we ended up each ordering our own entrees and splitting a 3rd entree. My partner ended up getting the Steak, I ended up getting the Duck Breast (although the Duck Confit was so close to winning out) and we split the Pork Belly. The front of house manager was fantastic in ensuring that we were taken care of, well hydrated with our water, and brought out everything in perfect order. He was able to engage in light conversation while also checking to make sure other tables were well attended to. Each of our three dishes came out perfectly made, was very well balanced, and left us wanting to return here on our next Vancouver trip. We came for brunch and got in around 1:50pm and it was close to them closing for lunch (they close at 2:30pm with last call at 2pm). They checked with the kitchen and was ok to take us, thankfully. Granted, they had a lot of tables still working on their food. I liked the food. The braised short rib in the Black Bar and the short rib in the sandwich tasted the same. I like the robust seasoning but hubby found it on the smokey side. The kids loved their Full French dish. I wouldn't go out of my way just to come here as they serve similar fare as some other restaurants, but if I'm in the neighborhood again, I'll come back. We found Tour de Feast as a happy accident during a weekend trip to North Vancouver. We made reservations based on recommendations online, and we are very glad we did. I would travel again just to get a chance to eat here again. I was so impressed with the hospitality of the staff and owners, the high food quality, cleanliness of the restaurant, unpretentious ambiance despite it being an award-winning restaurant, and the kindness and patience of the owners and their family. I highly recommend the duck breast and lemon creme brûlée, if still on the menu at the time of reading this review. They cook using seasonal ingredients, so if you like to be prepared, call ahead or take the chance. I've never eaten something so perfectly cooked, well portioned, and seasoned. I left feeling satisfied and can hands down state that it was the best meal I'd had in a long time. It's clear that someone is cooking with soul in their kitchen. They have great gluten free recommendations. I always recommend that if you have dietary restrictions, please do yourself a favor and plan ahead by giving them a call to ask! It has been a long time since I was wowed by a dish. This place did not disappoint and totally deserved the stars given. I have heard and read about this place and covid hit before I could try it. It was take out mostly then. We decided to try it over the weekend and were lucky to get a table as the place was tiny. There was a line waiting outside when we left. The menu is not extensive which is a good thing. It makes ordering easier. We decided on the cassoulet and my friend was also blown away by the dish. Served in a cast iron pan, it was filled with eggs, beans, meat, potatoes and toast. Forget about this dish if you were on a diet as it was full of flavor and good fats. The eggs were perfectly poached with soft yolks which ran slightly. The lardon bacon was fattier than regular bacon. The weisswurst sausage was flavorful and soft. Potatoes were nicely crisped around the edges with steamy soft flesh. Then the star of the dish -- pork rillette. So rich and so good when eaten with the toast. I always love duck rillette and this pork version was equally yummy. The navy beans just completed completed the dish, making it an hearty meal. What a wonderful find, intimate and cozy, minimal decor and in the least likely of neighbourhoods. First off I'd have to say they're COVID friendly! Meaning they are following the rules, less tables, spread out and wearing face masks and disinfecting everything after each table is done and distancing themselves as much as possible during service. This made me feel a lot better about going out to dine again. My overall impression is the food is carefully prepared and not unlike any better dining experience you'd find in Paris. Bonus here is they cater to North American appetites! Portions are generous. The fois gras mousse appie is a must try for first timers! Light in texture but full in taste without being overly rich feeling on the tongue as you would with a solid piece. The onion jam is super tasty and goes well with the airy brioche it's served with. The other appie you must try is the Alsacienne onion tart. Served with a small side of greens, this is one to share. It has a wonderful light flaky buttery crust and equally tasty filling of melt in your mouth onions! The house charcuterie was also very good and another appie you could share! julia's bday celebration continues - this time with my bestie s. it was also a semi-celebration for her new job! i can't rmb where i found this hidden gem but boy was it worth it! it is located just off the highway in north van, and the restaurant itself was a small, quaint place hidden around industrial shops. there is parking in the back and ample street parking around the place. as it is a smaller restaurant, resos are def recommended. we were greeted right away at the door - the owner asked if we had resos, which we did. she rmb that it was a bday dinner and asked who's bday it was. julia received more bday greetings, and yes it is never enough! there is a rotating drinks/wine list, which is not found on the site so julia had to decide what she wanted to have. i ultimately had the st. germain and s had the chambord. both were refreshing and light - perfect start to the dinner! some complimentary bread was provided and both of us loved that it was lightly toasted. it was crispy and warm - s' not a big fan of bread and thoroughly enjoyed it. we shared the mussels - the sauce was garlicky with a bit of a kick from chilli peppers. the sourdough bread that came with the dish was perfect to soak up the juices! the mussels were fresh and decent sized. i had the duck confit while s had the lamb shank. my duck confit was done amazingly - the skin was crispy and flavourful, the meat fell right off the bone and the jus on the bottom tied everything together. there were small slices of bacon that was a nice surprise as well. s shared some of her lamb with me even tho i'm not a big fan of lamb personally. the shank was not gamey at all - peeve of mine and basically why i don't like lamb - and the mash was smooth and creamy. we were stuffed at this point and didn't order any dessert. there was a table beside us with 2 ladies that did order dessert, and theirs looked delicious! when we were paying, the owner told us that they have brunch everyday. guess that means julia will be dropping by very soon read more

Came across this place as it had a good amount of reviews for a place in Vancouver. I guess Yelp isn't widely used there? Anyway, we were on our way to do the Quarry Rock hike and wanted a place to eat on the way. We got here right as they opened, and was welcomed into their super warm and cozy restaurant. The place is pretty small, so I can see it getting crowded as it nears peak time. The servers were very nice, and asked us multiple times whether we had any allergies! (I later noticed that every place we went to in Vancouver asked this question, but they were the first!) I've only eaten French food a handful of times, so I wasn't familiar with the menu items. I ended up ordering the wild mushroom fricasse. The dish had tomatoes, potatoes, avocado, poached eggs, and crostini. I probably should've ordered something more familiar, but I wanted to be adventurous and try something new. The bread with the juices was good, but I wasn't a fan of the heavy tomato and mushroom flavor. The coffee they served was really good though. The bread was crispy topped with 2 sunny side eggs. You have a choice of bacon or sausage. We felt safe as we were seated a good distance from other tables. They do a great job keeping the place clean. Next time we hope to visit for dinner. It's good to know they have prepared food for takeout. I came here for brunch on a rainy day. There's parking right outside...convenient. The restaurant is smaller than I thought and has cozy vibes which I liked. The people working there (owner maybe?) was really warm and friendly. I was super excited to try the duck confit skillet and it was good! It was a lot of food for me though, I couldn't finish it. Getting French food right is difficult at best, Impossible at worst. Unfortunately Tour de Feast does not deliver a great French meal. They use low quality ingredients. For tonight's meal, the fish smelled rancid. The steak was extremely tough. The wine was below average. The service is great and they didn't charge us for the fish. I feel bad because they are trying hard to deliver a good experience at a price point that is much lower than other well known French restaurants in the area. The food here is fantastic, and more memorable than the meal I had at Le Faux Borgeouis. The decor is simpler though and the location could be more inviting. We ate here in the summer and the portable AC unit was struggling to keep up with the temperature outside. We came here for brunch and ordered two of their skillet dishes. I got their Black Bar ($21) which was a braised beef skillet in a creamy curry-like sauce with beautifully soft poached eggs. A well balanced dish of flavors and the beef was well marinated and tender. Quite delightful of a dish, wish there was more bread to dip in the sauce! My friend got the Lyon ($16). The couple nibbles I had gave me the impression that this was a bit too salty for my liking, but the bacon flavor did come through nicely. Bonjour! Finally made it out to Tour de Feast & the trip out here was worth it! We had the popular Cassoulet (poached egg, beans, sausage, confit pork & lardon) & I had the amazing Duck Confit! Both dishes were amazing & so heart filling. I chewed away on my duck leg - the meat is so delicious & flavourful! TDF is a family run restaurant offering classic French cuisine. It is truly a hidden gem out here on the North Shore & close to the Second Narrows Bridge. The decor setting for TDF is very simple so do not arrive expecting fancy fancy! The black bar is braised beef that melts in your mouth and covered in a thick gravy-like sauce. And I dipped the bread provided in the sauce, which tasted amazing. A French feast in North Vancouver. Thanks to previous reviewers who provided great information, we decided to drop in on the delightful restaurant on our way back to Vancouver from a fun day at Grouse Mountain. We were so pleasantly surprised! The location of this place was nothing special. One plus though was that it was the first place in Metro Vancouver where we could park on the street for free. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. We shared the Salad Lyonnaise and Braised Beef. Both were perfect. The peppercorn gravy made the SUPER tender beef soooo tasty, but if that wasn't enough, the creamy potatoes were out of this world flavorful. All I can say is that I soaked up every last drop of that gravy and wish I had more! This was French comfort food at its finest. The salad was also delicious. The dressing was creamy and just rightly seasoned. The blanched green beans and radishes were a delightful touch. Not always a fan of pickled red onions, I loved these! We shared a caramel soufflé for dessert and it creamy and deliciously sweet. It topped off our savory meal very nicely. The server was the spouse of the chef. As a family business, I loved hearing the story of how they arrived in N Vancouver. The service was timely - it probably helps that the whole place is less than 800 sq ft in area. I read on one of their posted news articles that Tour was #37 on the list of top 100 restaurants in Canada. Well-deserved. Delightful little restaurant located near the industrial area of north Vancouver. We had heard good things about their brunch menu and we were definitely not disappointed. The mushroom and Swiss omelette was tasty but omelettes are usually a safe bet. Instead of the mushrooms mixed into the eggs they were folded inside with the cheese so some bites had mushroom while others did not. The cassoulet was very tasty. Horrible customer service. Lacks basic courtesy of making the customer feel valued for dining out in these times. Very rude staff, better to Avoid! Update: Let me debunk the theory put out there by the Owner (Nupur) below while also provide a more productive resolution to this (or what could have been!). People reading this can make their mind. My intention was to highlight lack of basic customer service but looking at their 'harsh' response (not very different from how they behaved in person), they seem to normalize this so good luck with that folks! Here are the specifics: 1. We walked in at 12 pm. The server who approached us at the door was wearing a mask (that's good!) so my wife couldn't understand her correctly and assumed she said 'Table for two?' instead of 'Do you have a reservation or walk-in?'. My wife said yes, and we were seated at a table on the patio as we had our dog. ISSUE: No name or reservation time was verified at this point which is the crux of the issue. The owner, Nupur, is conveniently sweeping this under the rug. :) 2. While we were eating our meal, around 1230 pm, the server walked up to us saying, "hey, didn't you guys say you have a reservation?". My wife politely said "no, why what happened?". If we had to "Lie" we could have lied again, right? Right??? :) The server said, "in that case, can you move to the next table right now?" I said, "well, we are in the middle of our meal." So I politely refused. At this point she started scolding us?!?! And I was like what just happened? I tried to stay calm and pushed back on the request as the server didn't even have basic level of courtesy. I'd have happily switched the table IF: a. the food was not served and we were waiting for it or, b. if the request was to switch once we were done with our mains as we were planning to order desserts after. Again, Ms Nupur, you may not feel the same which is fine but for us it is basic courtesy. The ISSUE here really is a lack of system where the server NEITHER checked the name on the list NOR the reservation time. Sorry, for the upper case (i'm not shouting :D). This would have clarified right at the beginning but I guess, a lack of basic reservation system is also not a thing at "Tour De Feast". Now, about this guest being Pregnant -- I did speak to her husband and said I'm sorry for the confusion and that they had to wait but it's really the restaurant's mismanagement of their reservation. This could be easily verified. Not that it matters, but this experience left such a bad taste in our mouth (no pun intended), I didn't bother completing my meal and left as soon as I got the check and paid. So Ms, Nupur, happy to inform you, we won't be making a "tour" to your "No Courtesy de feast" ever. Anyhow, I wish this was a pleasant experience for both the parties as we were celebrating a special personal event. It sucks but I hope the management takes this in their stride and ensures a good reservation verification system is put in place so that no other customer feels the same again. Good luck! read more

TLDR; This place is a nice hidden restaurant that we were fortunate enough to find. We came here for brunch and this place evangelized us to become regulars. The food was great! and the service was exceptional!! Alright now to the detailed experience. We managed to book an appointment over the phone for brunch for a party of two + dog. We came in to be surprised that our reservation was usurped by another user. Who claimed he had reservation but he actually didn't! The server was very professional in handling the situation and calmly asked the gentlemen and his companion to move to another desk. This person started yelling and refused to move despite the fact that he didn't had reservation, blaming the restaurant for no apparent reasons! Since the other user was completely un-cooperative, the restaurant assigned us to a different desk and were very apologetic but, they made sure we had the best experience. Absolutely in love with this little French restaurant. It's a hidden gem waiting to be discovered in north van. It's a modest restaurant with simple decor and AMAZING food that you have to try. I've been there twice for brunch and it's always been packed with tables reserved. Both times I had the cassoulet just because it tasted that good!! It's nice and hearty and full of flavour(plus it comes with a side salad). They have good coffee there as well. I can't wait to go back to try their dinner menu. The business is a family ran. The son is the chef who started this restaurant out of his passion with the support of his whole family behind him. The mother, father, and sister(although I haven't met her) helps with the front of the house. They're super friendly and inviting. You can taste all the love that has been put into the food.
