They were a no show at our consultation appointment with no communication. I do not recommend doing business with them.

PLEASE STAY AWAY AND SAVE YOURSELF FROM THIS NIGHTMARE…read more This business took a $4,607.71 deposit from me 90 days ago for a 28 to 42 day lead time item. It does not matter how many times I call, I have not once received a return phone call since providing my payment. The phone mostly rings to no answer. The couple times I have reached someone I was told the manufacturer is having substantial delays and they cannot get any update from them - I received feedback from the manufacturer within 24 hours saying my experience with this dealer is not normal and I also cross checked with two competitors (oh how I wish I had done that back in November) and have gotten 2 week lead times quoted for the same stove from both of these other businesses. Upon learning this information I requested a refund but you can imagine how that is going. I even picketed the store front for an hour and forty five minutes today and still cannot get a return phone call or any movement on my refund - THEY JUST DO NOT CARE!!!

Unfortunately, with the 6 week install estimate and other delays, I'm past where I can get results via my credit card provider. Stay away from this company. Apparently, there is a new owner and the service of 30 years ago that was excellent is gone and out the window. You will notice that all the good reviews for this place are greater than two years ago. The new owner, Kevin, seems to have acquired the business about 2 years or so ago and that's just about when all of us started having negative experiences. If others are interested in filing in small claims court and reaching out to the local news stations with me, as well as doing some picketing of this place, please reach out to my email at annirbas@yahoo.com. We have got to stop this person from taking advantage of us. Matt R, please reach out to me if you see this. UPDATE 2025-03-11: After several in person visits to the Dreifuss showroom and being VERY CLEAR on what I expected (a full refund), I was finally given a full refund on March 7. Kevin kept indicating he was not sure when he could process the refund but that he would "as soon as he was able." That still was not good for me, so I kept pressing everytime I spoke to him or saw him. I must admit, I thought it would take much longer than it did to be provided with a refund. I would suggest that others also reach out and file claims with the Attorney General's at https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/submit-a-complaint/ so that it can be on record and this place can maybe be monitored to make sure it performs within the guidelines of the law and other consumer protection benefits that we, the consumers, are entitled to.

STAY FAR AWAY! Mistakes and no end in sight…read more It's been over 5 months since we paid our deposit and the job is STILL NOT DONE for a FireplaceX 44 Elite from Comfort Home & Hearth. This is a higher end job in the context of installing fireplaces, and it has been treated as anything but. Excuses after excuses. Zero communication unless you reach out to Chuck, and even when you miraculously get ahold of him, it's lack of commitment and no truthful timeline provided. As we didn't hear any updates from Chuck, we spent some of the coldest 6 weeks of the year (November and December) with a literal exterior HOLE IN OUR LIVING ROOM WALL where cold outside air continually rushed in. No action from Chuck. Chuck mis-measured the bluestone for the hearth. Despite the obvious mismeasurement for the expensive piece of stone (that I had to pick up from the seller, as well as unload), he STILL instructed his team to install and secure the piece that left a 3" gap between the fireplace and the bluetone. Upon pointing this out, no action from Chuck. The lack of communication and poor decision making also exists between Chuck and his own workers: Upon installing the sensitive mechanical electrial blower on exterior of my house, his team left at the end of the Friday with the blower entirely exposed to the elements. The agreed upon design had this contained within protected housing, yet it was left to me to discover the negligence and resolve. As of now, 5 months since initial payment, the project remains incomplete. Working with this company has been problem after problem, frustration after frustration. Don't end up a fool like me, look elsewhere and stay away.

I would not do business with Chuck McGroarty and his fireplace store again…read more I have had a bad experience with them. Chuck and his fireplace store were contracted to replace a gas fireplace installation in my home that was fifteen years old and in need of repair. I never saw a demonstration of the product. I only saw pictures and representation of the product made by Chuck. From day one the product only performed at half of what was pictured and represented by Chuck. So far, Chuck and his company have failed to respond to my request to remove the unit and refund my money OR to replace the unit with one that performs to those pictured and represented by Chuck. As the four star rating indicates, we can recommend The Fireplace People to those looking to…read morepurchase a freestanding stove. The crew in Mamora are friendly and knowledgeable. The chimney company associated with The Fireplace People and The Fireplace People installers were extremely professional and did an excellent job installing our unit. I am writing this somewhat lengthy review in the hopes that those purchasing a stove from this business will avoid a couple of the pitfalls that we experienced. 1. Timing and coordination: The propane stove that we ordered was to replace an older propane stove that was literally on its last legs. We ordered the new stove, a Hearthstone Champlain, on January 2 but it wasn't installed until March 15. While The Fireplace People have you use 'their' chimney guy and they have their own installation crew, they coordinate in a less than optimum way. The chimney company schedules its work and, once completed, notifies The Fireplace People who then put it on their schedule. In our case, this led to a 3 week delay in the installation. In addition, the opening to the chimney was not what the installers expected when they arrived to complete their work, so they had to go pick up extra items before they could begin their installation. I would encourage you to have The Fireplace People schedule their installation when the chimney work is scheduled, not when it is completed. 2. Misunderstandings over optional equipment: We were surprised to find out after the installation, that the unit did not come with a remote control even though the brochure The Fireplace People provided us with states clearly that the Champlain stove includes a remote control and that it's the blower which is optional. A remote is also listed under the brochure's Features and Benefits and on the back of the brochure it states that "All of Hearthstone's gas products are remote control operated." We found out that we purchased a Champlain 3 and that only a Champlain 2 comes with a remote. We weren't even aware that there were different Champlain models. You need to be sure to communicate clearly about options and confirm in writing what is and is not included. I want to emphasize that when I spoke with John at The Fireplace People he apologized for the misunderstanding and agreed to provide the remote at no extra cost even though he the model we ordered only included the remote as an option. This was more than fair and just what one would expect from a reputable company.
