We walked in the door and we were immediately greeted by the hostess and a waitress. They asked us to wait just a few minutes to be seated because our table was not ready. We were seated immediately. We were brought bread and water for the whole table along with the menus, which was very simple menu that I really appreciated. This diner used to be a truckstop back in the day and now it is a little diner for strictly steaks and it was a wonderful atmosphere. Everybody was really nice, smiling and chitchatting and having a good time there was no TVs there was no music just everybody talking and having a good time the steaks were cooked to perfection as well as the baked potatoes. I have nothing bad to say about this place. It was very good. Everybody was gracious and appreciative of their customers I definitely will go back so if you're ever out headed east look for the flaming steakhouse you won't be disappointed. What a fun stop in the middle of nowhere. We needed a place that was open past 8:00 and landed on this steakhouse. At first glance, it doesn't seem like too much. The restaurant is attached to a gas station. There's no frills. No expansive menu, but they do know how to cook a steak! I've been to far more expensive places that have screwed up the cook on my meat. Meat, baked potato, and a wedge salad--that's it. We recommend the jalapeno poppers (the only appetizer), and they do have some options for dessert. The service was so helpful and friendly. This was a pleasant surprise. read more

I was working in Fort Morgan this week and asked a first responder the best place to get a steak. He immediately said The Flame Steakhouse and tried to explain where it was and the best way to get there. Look for the Shell Station off N I-76 and Business 76 going towards Fort Morgan, it right beside it. Do not judge this place from the outside, because once you walk through the doors, you're greeted but a great staff who make you feel right at home!! I arrive Friday night just before the doors opened at 5pm. I was greeted with a warm smile and sat at my table. The menu is simple and short, so there isn't much thinking involved. I was going to get the Sirloin but when a staff member mentioned the Buffalo Steak and talked about how good and lean it was, I had to try it out. I asked for it MedRare with a side of grilled mushrooms vs onions and a loaded potato. The brought out warm fresh baked bread and a glass a water before my meal as well as a fresh wedge salad which was very tasty. The Buffalo steak was perfect cooked, dark pink in the middle, just the way I like it. It was very tender with just enough juice I didn't need nor want any A1 sauce. It was delicious and large enough that I was only able to eat half my loaded bake potato. Definitely no room for desert. Maybe next time. We are in Fort Morgan for a State bowling tournament. Since we haven't been in this area before we thought a steakhouse would be a great option for dinner. We saw this place when we checked into the Baymont. Our first thought was "a steakhouse attached to a gas station seems sketchy". We didn't need stomach issues when we are trying to bowl again tomorrow! DO NOT judge this book by its cover! We walked in the door and was greeted right away. They accommodated our wishes by clearing a large table area. Our preference was for a table over a booth. Our server was prompt in taking our drink order. One of their specialties, for good reason, is the chargrilled jalapeño poppers. Three different cheeses are in them. So delicious! Everything we had was perfection. One of us had the ribeye, 2 of us split the buffalo steak, and another of us had the sirloin. Lots of food is served to you. I was so happy that my friend said yes to splitting the Buffalo steak. So tender you probably could've cut it with the edge of a fork. The seasoning was just right, not heavy like some other steak places. Your sides are a wedge salad with choice of toppings and a large baked potato, loaded your way! We were too full to have dessert but it all looked amazing from a distance. Found another steakhouse in the Fort Morgan area. My husband has been working in this area the past week or two. Another hole in the wall place that looks like it was part of the gas station at one time but then again most of the buildings in the Fort Morgan area and brush are older buildings from the 1940s and 50s. It's near an RV park so I'm sure they get a lot of business from that and the hotels around too cause it's right off the highway. My husband had steak dinner. I had a chicken. His steak tasted really good as a large portion. My chicken was a little overcooked, but everything else that we had on the sides were great. We even had their chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. Oh my gosh that was so good but very rich so it'll take you a little bit to finish it. Apparently their meat is never frozen and always fresh. They have a very small menu which makes it actually kinda nice. Their prices are really affordable. Just passing through the area on I-76 (exit 75) and so glad I found this place. I usually check reviews and saw a couple negative, but mostly positive. Don't always rely too heavily on reviews as everyone has different standards and opinions. Staff may have been having a bad day. The hostess, Sarah was so nice and friendly how was the server, Kenna. The baked potato was phenomenal. Loaded with sour cream, cheese, and bacon bits. I ordered my steak, medium and noticed it was slightly over probably closer to medium well, but didn't mind because it was tender and delicious. Both Sarah and Kenna came by to ask how it was and I told them it was great. They both noticed it looked a little dark and offered to take it back, but I refused. I appreciate them being so alert. Beyond failure to accept responsibility. My wife and I have eaten at The Flame in Fort Morgan on several occasions. There are so few places in the county that specialize in steak and serve a good baked potato. So we decided we were willing to look past the fact that you have to use the Shell station bathroom next door. We were glad we gave them a chance. 8 or 9 times out of 10 we left quite pleased with the food we were served and the attentiveness of the servers. We always made reservations, as we were instructed to do by the owner. We brought friends and family. We were always polite, cleanly dressed, and made no mess. ALWAYS leave an above average or better tip for our servers. The 10th time is very different. The 10th time you may find your "medium" T-bone only 70 or 80% edible. You may find the filet side(the best part) to be completely overdone saw-dusted, and some bitter black over-charred gristle in place of the normally juicy new York side. You may then spend the entire dinner not enjoying your anniversary as intended. But instead discussing with your wife, both frustrated and disappointed over whether or not to send back an entire 42 dollar T-bone(pictured) and insist that it be removed from the bill. Or just keep quiet and accept that the filet side was inedible, cut away the burnt gristle from the new york, and try to enjoy the 80% nearest the bone that was in fact cooked to a juicy medium as ordered. You may also be nervous about how to handle the situation because you have been there enough times to know the owner does not seem like the type of person who is open to criticism or complaints. You may then come to the conclusion that you shouldn't have to pay for their mistake. They are professionals and will likely take responsibility and ask to make it right. That being 20% inedible is no reason to waste an entire 42 dollar steak by sending it back. Thus the most fair approach would be to salvage the new York strip, leave the rest on the plate, and bring the issue, and the inedible portion, quietly to the attention of your server. You may find that the result of this decision is a reaction by toxic owners that goes beyond a simple failure to accept responsibility for a mistake. Far beyond a failure of customer service or any desire on the part of ownership to ensure 100% satisfaction among their diners. You may find that your expectation of a professional but simple apology and five or ten dollars deducted from your bill was far from what you will receive in return for your attempt to be fair. Your may find yourself being told that "That's the way they come out. We hand cut our own steaks and they don't always come out even on both sides. So the filet cooks faster". And you may find yourself being told "there is nothing wrong with that" and "you should have sent it back right away". You may continue to try to convince the owner you are simply being fair and reasonable. You then may find yourself AND YOUR WIFE being condescended to and disrespected quite loudly by the owner and her husband. Your wife, fed up and seeing no path to reason with the owners, pays the bill and leaves a tip. You may respond to this by politely allowing a few nearby diners whose attention was on the clearly agitated and loudly speaking owner, view the condition of your steak. Then the owners, fuming with anger, will dial 911, and throw you out of the building as you wrap up your leftovers. As a courtesy you should hang around so the deputies and officers in the five police cars that arrive can collect your info and come to the conclusion that the owners have overreacted and are being petty, without having to track you down at your house over an hour away from their jurisdiction. After you assure them you wont be back on Flame property or the gas station where the restrooms are located. Before you head home completely dissatisfied and sure to spend several days upset over the whole ordeal. You should thank them for their service and apologize that their time was wasted by such irrational toxic people who didn't want to give a five or ten dollar discount on product that NEVER SHOULD HAVE BEEN SERVED in the first place. Now the owners will reply to this review that YOU were the problem. Out of nowhere you became a terrible customer and began causing them problems for no reason. You were just trying toscam and get free food, even though you paid well over full price so many times before. You should have handled the situation the way they wanted you to and let them make it right the way they choose. You just don't know what you are talking about the steak was great. You don't have to take my word for it. Maybe it will be different for you. Maybe an 80% return on your money is good enough for you. It is your money. You spend it where you want. But if you gamble on The Flame, DO NOT COMPLAIN. Just go in, keep your mouth shut, eat the steak they give you, pay, and leave. read more

I ordered a Brandy Manhattan but no brandy (it's a midwestern thing) so I said to substitute bourbon. It was as good... or maybe better than my own. Superb...and I am very fussy about my drink. Place has a great vibe. Steak was flavorful and tender. Bread excellent. Salad excellent; cold, crisp and very fresh. We will be back. Out in the country, 4 minute drive from Fort Morgan. Bread was warm and butter soft. The salad was served very chilled with an assortment of dressings to choose from. The salad was an assortment of lettuce, carrots, tomatoes, onions, and bacon. If you're a ribeye person you'll be returning again and again and large enough to share! The 8oz sirloin 8 oz but so good with a 1 lbs potato and a nice wedge salad! I read reviews online as we were rving back to Denver. We needed to spot for a quick overnight and stayed at the RV park right next to Flame steakhouse because we wanted to try it. It's pretty unassuming from the front. It's in a tiny strip mall next to the gas station. We went at 5 and it had a few people in it. By the time we left around 6:30 it was packed! We had a delicious meal with one steak dinner and one chicken. The cold wedge salad was delicious. The dinners come with a baked potato that you can get loaded. We didn't see an extra charge for our loaded potatoes. We had adult beverages with our meals. Service was exceptional. Friendly wait staff. This is a place we discovered a couple years back and have enjoyed going to by ourselves as well as with out of town guests. We decided to do our Anniversary dinner here as it's been pretty positive overall. We ordered our steaks. Mine was spot on but my husband's was over and dry. It was supposed to be a medium temp t-bone. The strip half was acceptable with a little pink inside however the filet was brown all the way through and dry. We tossed around the idea of saying something the entire meal but we did not due to the fact we do not send items back or want recooks. We try to eat what we can and not complain. He decided to go up front after we finished to speak to the female owner as not to make a disruption in the dining room. She was defensive and did not offer an apology or any discount for the part that was inedible. Now mind you we would never try to not pay or get food comped we just were hoping for some reasonable response. She told him to "go sit down. The chef (other owner) will come talk to you". He also would not acknowledge any mistake or issue with the cooking or disappointment in it. He just said "that is how it gets". We simply told him we would not be back. He walked away upset which is when we went back up front and the female owner was visibly angry blaming us for not communicating to the server. She got loud and my husband noticeably got upset by their reaction as well. She accused him of eating the portion that was overcooked which was clearly still on the bone. She told us to "get out. You are trying to ruin my business". Mind you the issue was brought to her out of the dining room and they chose to talk to us in the dining room where other guests were eating. I calmly paid as she and my husband bantered. Both sides loud and upset. The cook/owner CALLED THE POLICE. Like what?! This is beyond ridiculous. Over a criticism of overcooked meat. They are impossible to reason with. A sincere apology whether they agreed or not would have diffused any more issues. We went outside as "requested" to wait to talk to the police. Needless to say if you want a decent meal and can keep any opinions to yourself then this may be right up your alley. Never have I seen such rudeness or anger from any establishment. I really debated between leaving a 4 and a 5-star review. It's really that good. Menu is very simple, some steaks, and a couple non-steak items. Go for the steaks, trust me on that. Meal started with warm bread and butter and a salad, served on a chilled plate and very crisp and fresh. The steak was cooked exactly as ordered, rare. I ordered the ribeye and was huge. I love the fat that is normally included with the ribeye, but this one had just a bit too much inedible fat that was even tough to cut. Overall, a great steak. Loaded baked potato was good, cooked perfectly and fresh from oven. I would have preferred a bit more cheese. I normally don't give restaurant decor much attention in a review, but this place is lacking. There was an attempt made to blackout the windows and hang some string lights, and some oddly place ornaments hanging from the ceiling. If you don't know how to decorate, that's fine, just find someone that can do that and give them a few hundred dollars to fix things up a bit. Not a big deal, but currently it is distracting. Holy Christ this place has some tasty steak ! My partner and I were down on our luck with a blown out tire on our trailer and we stopped to eat and figure out service. We came in at 8:30p and staff were still very welcoming and took care of us . I got the sirloin , soo delicious ! Fresh Bread and butter , loaded potato and wedge salad also delicious.
