Called in an order to go....asked for the green chili on the side. Husband went to pick up. One person in the restaurant, not close to closing time! He had an additional order to go, left, came back in and stated his order wasn't right! Should have been a clue as to our order. As I plated our meals, the order wasn't even warm, cheese wasn't even melted. NO green chili was included!! The cheese enchiladas WEREN'T even cooked, slipped on some red sauce, didn't even warm the sauce either!! I called to the restaurant, "Judy" stated that I could come back to get the green chilli, AND I COULD BRING BACK THE CHEESE ENCHILADAS, THEY COULD REDO THEM!!! I don't live in town, she didn't even care that they totally messed this order completely! I said I wanted to speak with management, "you'll have to tell corporate", I asked for the phone number and her name, which wasn't Judy, she gave me some bogus number that no one answers!! I enjoy huevos rancheros with hot green chili about every Friday or Saturday morning the coffee is hot, little disappointed with the powder coffee creamer. But the rest rocks. On our way to Vail, we stopped for a bite to eat while also trying to avoid the fast food chains. Stumbled upon the Santiago's, jammed with local diners (always a good sign). What we got: smothered sopapilla with carnitas, smothered bean and beef burrito add sour cream, and the enchilada dinner...all for under $20 and that included tip. The enchiladas (chicken) were so-so. The rice was less than mediocre. What makes this place worth a visit is the green chili sauce. If you see a restaurant full of diners ordering smothered food, then ya gotta do the same. Whether you order the sopapilla (fried) or the burrito, order the carnitas and have it DLX (smothered in green chili sauce, cheese, lettuce and tomato). read more

Decided to check this place out because of its stellar reviews. I was highly disappointed. The food was bland, truly the WORST Mexican food I have ever had. I'm not a complainer and have never left an online review less than 4 stars, but this was an exception. The service and ambiance left much to be desired, it's definitely a bit of a hole in the wall dive bar. The chips and salsa appetizer had been sitting and were not fresh. If you like the idea of Mexican food but with no spice or flavor, this may be the spot for you, otherwise I would check out one of the other Mexican restaurants in town. read more

As someone from New Mexico, good breakfast burritos are a thing that is tough to find, especially with respectable green chile. Santiago's definitely satisfied both of my demands, for a great price only $2 a piece you can't go wrong (they are fairly small so I recommend getting 2). Each day is a different meat, combined with eggs, potatoes, beans and chile. I got mine to-go, but smothered is also an option if you elect to stay and eat in-house. This was surprisingly really good. I live in Phoenix so we have lots of great Mexican restaurants. What really sets this place apart is their sauce. I don't usually have a bean burrito but tried the large combo plate because I wanted to try a bit of everything. The smothered bean burrito was the best bean burrito I have ever had. I had a taste of my daughter's chicken flautas and definitely the best also. The cheese enchilada, taco were good but not exceptional. I recommend going with something with the smothered sauce. I had the 1/2 & 1/2 and I like hot and it was a nice heat. read more
