What a great place!! They were very welcoming and kind. The decor was very aesthetically pleasing and made you feel relaxed. This was my first time and the staff member explained everything and answered my questions patiently. I really enjoyed this experience and feel it will probably be a monthly thing for me. Sold me a 4 Float package in January and told me they don't really expire, they just have to enter the expiration date because it's a required field in the computer. I'd used one of the four visits when the pandemic happened. So my first time back was in November 2020. At this visit, I was advised that the other two prepaid visits would expire if I didn't use them within two weeks and there was no way to extend the expiration. I would need to contact management with any further concerns. The location was nice, the float was great, and the relaxation room was relaxing, but I feel bamboozled for buying the 4 float package that 'never expires' only to be told they would expire. I absolutely do not recommend prepaying for visits without getting the details IN WRITING. IMHO, nice float location but the sales tactics were a little shady, though it could have been just one dishonest employee. Beware! read more

This location is incredibly clean and the staff was wonderful. I'm definitely not a floating fan. I had a hard time getting my neck comfortable. I kept switching between the two pillows offered and nothing at all. They needed 1/4 pool noodle cut in half to just place under neck. It got a bit stuffy inside so I barely cracked the tank for a little fresh air and spent the rest of the float freezing. It's not as warm as you think. They had shampoo and a very light conditioner, as well as hair dryers. The one thing they did not have and I needed was a spray deodorant or deodorant wipe. Also if you use a bathing suit, they do not have plastic bags for carrying home. An excellent first experience, to know I'm definitely not a floater. read more

If you watched Gravity and thought floating aimlessly through space looked fun, a float pod may be for you. Received a four float pack as a gift and didn't realize they expired until I happened to open one two weeks after the expiration date. The owner graciously extended my dates by a month but unfortunately I was not able to use my entire gift. If you have never been in a float pod before it is definitely something worth trying at least once! The staff will guide you through the process (earplugs before prep shower!) and then leave you to your journey. There are controls for the light and music within the pod so you can decide how deep into sensory deprivation you want to go. I would highly recommend the thin neck halo to keep your face out of the salty water. One of the best naps I've ever had was in a float pod and the halo kept me from a rude salty awakening. If you are someone who has trouble turning your brain off to sleep at night, the float pod may be a meditative challenge. The zen spa-like music in the pod can help drown out the monkey mind. The pictures are from room 4 which has a accessible shower with seat and movable shower head. Taking a shower with their provided toiletries and then relaxing in their lounge with hot tea extended my zen. I think its an experience worth trying out... but maybe just start with one session :) read more

This place is great. I didn't know quite what to expect but it was one of the most relaxing things I have ever done. The whole staff was very friendly and 100% on board with making the entire experience smooth and simple. The facility was clean and the pods are awesome. If you have never floated before I highly recommend it. I was a first timer and I will definitely be back. Let me start off by saying that I am picky. I have been floating for a while and have my own float pod in my house, so just giving you some context. The Float Zone definitely put some thought into the lay out and decor. It feels as though they went for maximum comfort. From the lobby to the lighting, nothing was overlooked. Your float starts with an introductory video into how Float Zone operates. So, I am talking things like where the lights are located and how to turn the music off and on. Once you finish your intake paperwork, you hop into the shower and then into your float pod. The rest is up to you. I love the open shower. It feels more spacious and less claustrophobic without a door. The primping room is a nice touch for those who need a bit of extra time. If you're really zoned out, there is even a chill room where you can color, have a cup of tea, and enjoy your zen. There is one thing I'd suggest for a change. When your float is over, you get this loud, obnoxious voice telling you that your time is up. In other places, they have soft music that gets louder the longer it goes on. It gently wakes you out of your zen space. I actually look forward to that music invading my reverie. If I came again, I'd also bring my own soap and shampoo. I'm picky and don't know what theirs is or what's in it. (I prefer no chemicals). I didn't actually get that deep chill out sensation that a float can produce. I don't think it due to anything related to Float Zone. It could just have been that I was chill before I got there (I just got back from vacation) or that every float is different. I wish I had photos to share like other reviewers! This place is a real hidden gem in RVA. I had no idea it existed until I ran into Dr. David Berv at a networking event! The float experience itself was therapeutic in a surreal way. I've done silent and guided meditation before, but the floatation pod really helps get an extra degree of solitude. I acclimated to floating in the dark pretty quickly and was able to focus on things going on in my life. I recommend hanging out in the relaxation lounge after the float. So happy I found The Float Zone. Went in for my second float yesterday and let me just tell you, it was incredible. My first float was nice but because it was a new environment and something I had never done before it felt slightly unnatural. However, this last float was so relaxing and I was able to doze off during my hour session. When they tell you to give it a few floats to see results, do it! I floated for the first time a few days ago and absolutely loved it! I had been hearing a lot about float tanks recently and was intrigued by the idea, and was so excited to hear that a place was finally opening in Richmond! I was a bit apprehensive going in the first time, as I am extremely claustrophobic. However, the "pod" was large enough that I didn't get nervous. Each person has a private room, and the pod is in the middle of the room. You are able to leave it as open as you like, and can leave lights and music on if you feel more comfortable. I opted to get in with it fully closed, in the dark, and turned the music off after I felt comfortable, and didn't feel claustrophobic once during my hour float. It was a very unique experience that's hard to explain, but I felt very relaxed and calm throughout my float, and came out with the same sense of relaxation afterward. I suffer from a chronic pain condition, and can see how multiple sessions could be beneficial to my health and in lowering my daily aches and pains. The Float Zone is beautifully decorated- very open and light with soothing colors and accents. The lobby is welcoming and the actual room where you float is great- each room has a private shower that is nicer than my shower at home! Shampoo, conditioner and soap are provided, and there is an area with hair dryers, lotion and q-tips that you can use as well. Finally, there is a "post-float lounge" room which was so cool! There was a fireplace, cozy couches and adult coloring books where you can continue relaxing before heading home or back to work, etc. To make a (very) long story short, I really enjoyed my experience at the Float Zone much more than I expected and can't wait to try it again soon! read more

This was one of the most amazing experiences I've ever had! I'm glad I did buy 3 so my wife and I could try it and so I could go again on my own another time. Since this was our first time, we had to arrive 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork, watch an informational video, and instructed on the process. Afterwards, we were given a tour of the center. There are the float rooms with showers in them, the "Ready Room" where you can do your hair and makeup, and then the "Chill Room" where you can relax after your session. At first I was very nervous, but after taking my shower I was ready to go in and start my session. I didn't turn the lights off right away because I'm still afraid of the dark! I had a little trouble relaxing in the beginning, however, about 15 minutes in, I didn't want to ever leave. It was quiet, dark, and I couldn't distinguish my body from where the water started (it's all set on body temperature); and it was perfect. My friend found this location on Yelp and based on the reviews we decided to give it a try! I am definitely willing to try various health and wellness modalities, but I will admit I was initially nervous about floating. The pod seems like it could cause claustrophobia and I was worried about slipping in the tub. However, the staff and video before you float help to erase any fears. The pod itself does not have to be closed and you will still get total darkness. The location is very clean and relaxing. A nice spa atmosphere despite the office space location. The experience of floating was a nice combination of being in a tub and being in the sea. I felt an immense sense of calm in my tense neck and shoulders after my 60 minuets. My skin was clear and glowing. Two things I didn't expect when I signed up.
