He advised me of the extent of the damage, even finding and pointing out damage that neither I nor another contractor I received a bid from had noticed (the water had seeped under the wall and also had damaged the room on the floor on the other side) Not only was James professional, on time, and competitively priced, he was also extremely competent and tidy in his job. Once the floors had been restored they looked better than they ever had before. When I go to replace a carpeted room in my house with hardwood, James and St Helena Hardwood floors LLC will be my first and only call and it should be yours as well.

We recently remodeled our kitchen and used Humanity Home & Cabinetry for the kitchen design and…read morecabinetry. In late 2019, the company expanded into a huge new showroom in Santa Rosa. When we started working with them in the spring of 2019, they were in a tiny office with very limited abilities to showcase products. As a result, I had to do a lot of searching on the Internet to vet the cabinetry they were pitching. Not sure whether you can get into the new showroom at the present time due to COVID, but if so, you can easily see the lines they offer right at the showroom. Our designer Jessica Ivie was our primary contact point throughout our kitchen design and remodel. She has an excellent sense of color and is skilled at paint matching and finding colors that complement your existing decor. If you are looking for someone to tell you what to do, she is the designer for you. Jessica is extremely organized and skilled at follow-up, and both are characteristics that are absolutely indispensable in any remodel project. In fact, she provided more oversight for our project than our contractor did. I was a little worried that since Jessica was not a cook that our kitchen design might be lacking, but in fact we have been very happy with the new layout she created for our kitchen. During the COVID shelter-in-place, we've had plenty of time to vet the new layout. We are enjoying the ease of access to previously inaccessible items, the beautiful backsplash, better lighting with under cabinet as well as overhead lights, warm colors, and clean design. The kitchen has gotten a workout and has delivered beyond our expectations. The only really negative aspect of working with HH&C occurred late in the project. Jessica helped us select a gorgeous glass backsplash that was from a brand new backsplash vendor. Much later in the project Jessica also suggested we get matching glass switch plates. Unfortunately, because she had never used a glass switch plate in a previous project, she did not realize that the flat backs of glass switch plates require a different approach to cutting out the openings for the plates in the backsplash or a different installation of the electrical boxes. As a result the glass plates could not be installed flush with the backsplash, which the electrician said would make them likely to break. The resolutions would have been costly that late in the project. Instead we opted to use different switch plates and asked for a refund. We did receive a refund for the plates, but Jessica's boss Kelly Silverstein made it clear she was not happy about giving us a refund. She suggested we wanted a refund because we didn't like the plates instead of acknowledging that HH&C had recommended a product that would not work given what the contractor's expectations for switch plates had been up to that point. We were shocked at her reaction about the refund since the refund amounted to less than 1% of our total purchases from HH&C for cabinets, backsplash, sink, etc. I have no doubt that our contractor invested considerably more in time and labor to rectify the whole switch plate issue than HH&C did in providing us with a small refund. By contrast, our contractor did not charge us any additional fees. It was a shame that we walked away from HH&C with such a bad taste in our mouth right at the end of the project. I would highly recommend Jessica as a designer, but because of our perception of Kelly's lack of customer service, I lowered the number of stars for HH&C from 5 to 4.

Martin did a fantastic job on the installation, and cleaned up every day before leaving. The attention to detail was very much appreciated. The bathroom came out better than we expected! I hired Rising Starr Construction to remove and replace exterior building material which had been…read moreaffected by wood destroying pests & organisms - mainly dry rot & fungus - as identified in Home and Pest Inspection Reports. Most of the work required replacing approximately 50 ft x 3 ft of T1-11 siding along several exterior walls and replacing trim boards at various locations. Josh Kesecker is the Owner, and Antonio Martinez is Lead Carpenter and primary onsite worker. After reaching out to Josh, he responded quickly to setup a time to meet at my house and review the scope of work. He was quick to respond with his very clear itemized quote, and he scheduled work immediately. His price was fair considering the work involved and level of quality he and Antonio provided. Josh is a third-generation contractor with prior experience as an Inspector, so he knows how to address corrective issues. He is soft-spoken and calm, very straightforward, experienced, and friendly. Antonio was a gem - a very friendly, skilled professional that works very hard and takes pride in doing work correctly. For example, the trim at a window had been identified in the reports as having fungal damage. When Antonio removed the trim, he found that the damage extended to a narrow 2" and 12" section of siding under the trim on the side of one of the windows, and above the garage personal-door. He proceeded to dig out and replace this siding before replacing the trim. Another contractor would not have included this level of quality control and workmanship and would have simply replaced the trim and left the damage underneath. These guys were very easy to work with, and came through, providing outstanding quality work. I highly recommend them.

I was referred to Rising Starr Construction shortly after purchasing my first home. We had an…read more'extra room' behind the garage that was below-grade, had drainage issues, had terrible flooring, and the existing French doors and interior walls appeared to have water damage. We called and the owner Josh came out to investigate and assess what we needed to have done - within a day or two he sent a comprehensive and competitive bid. After we agreed to the work Josh returned with his team and within a several days created a French drain system around the extra room to mitigate moisture intrusion, installed a new sliding glass door, installed new flooring / baseboard, resolved some moisture intrusion / fixed and painted dry wall inside the room, and built an incredible post and pier foundation for our new shed we were having delivered. All of the work was done efficiently and with masterful craftsmanship; Josh and his crew were always nice and even cleaned up the work area at the end of each work day! We just sold the home and definitely made our money back and more! Can't recommend Rising Starr Construction enough... Josh and his crew are exceptional and truly the best at what they do.

Nathan stayed in communication with us until he was able to get to our project. He was on the job and working the entire 2 1/2 days it took to complete the job. The crew arrived precisely at the agreed upon start time and were well-organized and efficient. They were pleasant to have working around the home. We had a grant from the Brace & Bolt Program, which required Nath to understand the building techniques and building codes specified by the State. Because of his familiarity with the Program, he was able to help us through the permitting process as well as communicating with the State. It was a pleasure to have Nathan and his crew doing this work, which is making us feel more secure in our home.

Nathan was awful. Passive aggressive, left damage to my exterior of house with splashed dry wall…read moreand then stole $5,000 from me before project was completed. I filed a complaint with the county and they found him guilty of not having an official contract with me and theft. So now the next strike he gets he looses his license. This man will pretend to be kind to you then turn into an asshole and damage and steal. If covid hadn't hit I would have been able to take him to small claims court and win. I filed the damage to his bonding company and they were as bad as he is and stated they can't help Me with my home damage and they can't get the money back. I have to sue him. He also has NO INSURANCE FOR WORKERS TO WORK WITH HIM! Yet he used workers at my house and allowed them to wear flip flops during constriction. This was also reported to the county license and they confirmed he was in violation of this. You can call the county to confirm the strikes he got from us working together and all of his illegal activity he was found guilty for. If I had the money for a lawyer this guy would have been sued. Never hire him unless you want to get messed with.
