    BBQ pulled pork
    Lauren B.

This past weekend I joined Lauren at the Philly Food Truck Festival near the UPenn and Drexel campuses. I claim Philly as my first home so food trucks are basically my uncles. I don't know if that makes me part food truck but I'm all for it either way. While there were a ton of great foods on offering one stood all the way out for us - the meat pies at The Flying Pie Guy. Run by a pack of wild Australian blokes, this truck is the real deal. Their thing is 4 inch wide pies stuffed with different meaty fillings. The first one I tried was the "Tradie" featuring grass fed ground beef, bacon, cheddar and gravy. This thing was crazy good. I found myself holding it in two hands like a sandwich and trying not to mess up my brand new JustGrubbin tee. It was perfectly oozy and gave me about half an orgasm. The second pie I tried definitely stole the show and completed my orgasmic lunch soirée. The "Smokey Sam" is filled with BBQ pulled pork of the tenderest stock. That's it. No bells and whistles. The sauce is a little sweet with a hint of tang, but the overall flavor just bursts forth. The pork was perfectly, perfectly cooked and my date had to physically restrain me from going back for more (I escaped and went back for more. I do what I want). I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the Flying Pie Guy's actual truck. Well designed and Aussie as can be, you'll definitely spot it if you're ever in the vicinity. I was a big fan of the kangaroo and boomerang decor. I guess it helped that inside was street food of the highest caliber. Go get yourself some. You've earned it.

Pie was pretty great. Definitely a comfort food snack. Near concept and unique variety, but not entirely filling. Speaking of, there was an awful lot of crust and not much filling. Would've liked to see more filling but it's a food truck, and not a fine dining experience. Tried the Traditional and the Chicken & Leek, both had some good flavor.

    Love these ginger beers!

The Flying Pie guy gets to do what I've always wanted someone to do: Shepherd's pie on the go. And for that reason, I'm a fan. In terms of food truck prices, you get a lot of food for the price. I've paid twice as much for half as much from other trucks. Today I had a Tradie pie - ground beef and bacon, cheese and gravy, all in a pie. Need I say more? In the past, I'ver regularly gotten the Angus Steak & Guinness pie. That one is a little heartier I feel. It's loaded with more veggies too, so I like to convince myself I'm eating healthier! Stacking the pies when available is always a must. It's basically the same pie, but loaded up with a stack of gravy and mashed potatoes on the top layer. The one and only drawback for me is I feel it tastes a little too salty at times. You can tell the food is all very flavorful on their own, so I feel like there is no reason to use as much salt. It's obviously not a huge concern because I keep going back, but it's one thing I would hope to see improved with them. Otherwise, it's an amazing truck.

We weren't disappointed. My husband and I tried the recommended cheesesteak and general tsos wings. Very good. The staff there were all Very nice and welcoming. There's parking on the side as well as the entrance. There's chairs for waiting but you can call ahead. The prices were good and every item includes fries. I will be back to try more recommended items. Happy to have a new yummy food place near by! Also-side note having lived nearby and never been a customer of the citgo I took note of their gas prices and store items and I too will be back for them as well. I always get gas by my job but I'll be going there too.

So I read the address that was on Instagram to confirm, and he said that's it. I decided to support another business, but my friend convinced me to try this spot because the food is good. I wasn't sure if it was a food truck or a brick-and-mortar. As I pulled up I saw it was a gas station. Once I entered, I explained the bad customer service I received over the phone. After going back and forth with the owner about how rude the telephone conversation was. Remember, I asked what is the address. I never asked for directions. I decided at that moment after a 30-minute drive to not order anything for myself. My sister ordered naked wings with fries. The order was $13. I tried the wings, and they were fried without seasoning. The garlic sauce was watery...it wasn't thick. The fries weren't crispy. The entire experience made me sick to my stomach. So many officers recommend this place. Save your money & your gas. The customer service is trash. Waste of time!!! I ended up at a different restaurant where I spent $50, and the chicken was seasoned to perfection. Bad customer service ruins businesses! This was the first and last time I will ever come to this gas station. Disgusted!!!! As you can see two different sets of info. So yes! WHAT IS YOUR ADDRESS?

Even though I am a Louis Prima fan (sorry for the obscure reference) the bone to meat ratio just doesn't make up for the higher fat content. At least for me. This guys ribs changed that. You don't eat these ribs so much as you hold them up and allow the meat to dive into your mouth like an Olympian off the 10 meter platform. They are that good. And I have eaten enough brisket in my life that writing a review including a reference to pork is probably something I shouldn't do publicly, but his is top notch. Lastly, I come on this site and often see reviews regarding the personal nature of the proprietor of the business, which are sometimes so vicious and misplaced, it is not a mystery why the writers of South Park want to feed some of the members of this site what they want to feed them. To that end, if you have a problem with either Dan or his staff, I would have to say that the problem is most likely with you. They couldn't be nicer, more courteous and helpful. I know that sounds like a lot for serving somebody BBQ but those fairgrounds on a weekend can be a certified nuthouse. At no time did I see anyone lose their patience or desire to help the customers. Five stars all the way.

Their menu has a mix of cutlet sandwiches, cheesesteaks, burger, tacos, quesadillas and burritos. The man who took my order wasn't much for words, but the food more than made up for it! My wife had the Chicken Quesadilla $15 (comes with fries). I had the combination tacos $16 which had one hot sausage taco, one chipotle and one birria. All three tacos were stuffed and bursting with flavor. The double tortillas were awesome and made the overstuffed tacos easier to handle, but were also fresh and had a nice crunch to them. I enjoyed the birria most with the chipotle coming in a close second. The hot sausage taco was decent, but I needed more heat and flavor from it. The birria had a tasty combination of cheese, cilantro and onion to go along with the seasoned beef. The chipotle chicken partnered with pineapple, cilantro and onion hit the spot as well. The Chicken Quesadilla had a perfect portion of melted cheese and lightly seasoned chicken. It also held together extremely well. The fries were forgettable, but the main event was delicious. I'd seek these guys out again! Aristaeus has them on their website calendar once or twice a month and Newtown Brewing has dates on their Facebook events page. Thanks guys!
