Colonial Farms, you never cease to amaze me! The team from Colonial Farms provided the catering for a bridal shower at my home this weekend. The food was fantastic - my guests raved about the quality and deliciousness (is that a word??) of the entire meal. (The quiche was unbelievable!) Everything was presented beautifully. Upon my voyage to Pennsylvania, I stumbled across this small locally owned business. There was a kind, warming young man by the name of Maxim I encountered. He made me feel safe and comfortable. He took me in and treated me like one of his family members. What a pleasure it was to be serviced by this young man. He made me feel safe in his presence at the store. Disappointed in the quality as of late. I used to love their Chicken Pot Pies but the last two times I thought the Chicken was overcooked (dry, tough). Picked up a Caesar Salad the other day to have with dinner and thought "that's weird" as I poured the thick "Caesar" dressing on. After I mixed it, I decided to try a fork full... MAYO. The $8.95 Caesar Salad was actually a Mayo Salad. Not sure if it was intentional or a mistake but maybe cups of condiments should be labeled. When I'm driving home, this market and deli is the only one I pass in a 10 mile radius. A couple of days ago I was famished and decided to stop for a sandwich from the deli. A regrettable mistake. I waited behind another customer at the deli for five minutes while three or four employees busily went about their jobs with their backs to us. The other customer was already waiting when I arrived and we waited more than five minutes without acknowledgement. I was in a hurry to get in a work call so I checked out the pre made sandwiches. It was 1:30 so pretty bleak selection remained. I made a bad choice: avocado bacon lettuce tomato. When I was checking out, I mentioned to the cashier that I would've preferred a fresh sandwich. She shrugged and said that she'd tell her boss. So off I went to eat my sandwich Driving along I grabbed a half and was horrified that the bacon was nearly raw. It was a gruesome, chewy, fatty, sinewy mess . I tried to cut the first bite with my teeth but the whole contents of the half came out with it. So gross. Because I was in a call, I took the raw bacon out and put it in the clamshell co Rainer and ate the croissant that remained. At this point I had greasy raw bacon hands and was so skeeved out that I didn't even bother with the rest and threw it out when I arrived. As I write this I'm kind of shuddering at the raw bacon in my mouth. I used to be neutral on this place - it was just "there". After the bad food and terrible/indifferent service, no need to stop in again. read more

The mini cupcakes and their gourmet bigger cupcakes were surprisingly good. I got some right before they closed too and they were still fresh. Really wish they were priced better though. I just love this place. It is desperately needed right where it is located. It never disappoints. I needed my hazelnut coffee creamer the other day...they had it!! I wanted a few unique salads this week. Great selection and all so delicious. I especially enjoyed the one with chick peas. Ohhh...and the spanakopita was amazing! In fact...it is a "must try ." The bakery is reliable and better than most. Coffee on the go is good. Sandwiches and chicken fingers...all good. Staff is friendly and fast. It is always clean. A few tables are provided outside. Local store for almost everything. Rye bread is amazing. Chicken salad per pound was very good. My daughter enjoyed the cupcake. You get get deli sandwiches and meat too. Only downside it is pricey. I come here for their delicious cakes when it's one of our birthdays. Today I also ordered a Turkey hoagie with cheese tomato lettuce avocado and Mayo. It's perfect! I don't know if I'm just really hungry, but this is just beautiful, beautifully made, and the guy that makes the hoagies should def get a raise! He was very friendly and kind to customize the hoagie as I wanted it. He was the only one who greeted me or asked if I needed anything which I noticed. I've been here at least 4-5 times, and also ordered food for my holiday celebration. Every time I've come, I've been met with friendly, professional, and accommodating service and deliciousness! I even got "hooked" on the chef's sweet potato soufflé, and have specifically come looking for it again among the hot food specials on several occasions. I came in for the soufflé today, but saw Fat Tuesday hot food specials instead. I was hosting a party and a friend of mine brought a cake from Colonial Farms. First, the cake was very nice looking. It had a nice chocolate layer on the outside with the brim of the cake covered in fresh raspberries and a little alfajores cookie on top. When it was time for dessert, the cake from Colonial Farms was a popular choice. It was more popular than another chocolate cake and a strawberry shortcake. I decided to take a slice as well. Its location is super convenient for all residents surrounding the Washington Crossing area as it spares us from having to travel to the ever increasingly crowded Newtown shopping center every time we need a sandwich, a nice pastry or forget 1-2 items for tonight's dinner menu. It's also nice to have a local business with friendly staff that is consistently clean and operating at peak efficiency. To say this about any business at any time is a compliment but the credit that goes to the management of Colonial Farms to have served our community so well during the Pandemic is immense. So we spent the weekend in new hope area and went to all the great places to eat but this market was our first stop. 2 words, super salad. My wife went nuts over this kale quinoa salad they have. Best thing you can do , if you want to save a lot of money on all the trendy overpriced restaurants in new hope is, bring a big cooler, load it with ice, drinks, and stop at colonial market for anything else like salads, sandwiches, anything. You can put a weekends worth if food in a cooler and travel the area and save a ton on overpriced restaurants. Of course this is for people who like to do the picnic thing. We just had a baby shower for my daughter and used Colonial Farms for sandwiches, quiche and the cake. Everything was great, the assortment of mini sandwiches and filet on mini croissant were delicious and enjoyed by everyone. Quiches were great as always. The cake was just beautiful and so so good! Their muffins have gone downhill as have their cookies. The hot bar is still hit or miss and the grocery is still way overpriced. I've gotten under baked muffins (gooey dough in the center), muffins with barely any ingredients (see my strawberry muffin photo and good luck finding a strawberry) and stale cookies. Their stuff is not cheap so it pisses me off when I get home and the item is a complete disappointment :( The staff is still SUPER nice and the convenient location still brings me here every once in a while. Here, you pay for the convenience of not having to drive up to Newtown to shop. And, it fits into the atmosphere in Wash X that it is a bedroom community for high wage earners who prefer their town just as it is. To each his/her own. Colonial Farms caters to this community and does a fairly good job of it. The bakery usually has very good muffins and other sweet goodies. The deli makes really good sandwiches and salads, and the rest of the store is stocked with the basics needed to prepare your next meal. But, don't make the mistake of thinking this store is all you need on an every day basis. It is too small and select for that. For large shopping excursions you still need to find an Acme, or Whole Foods or Wegmans, etc., to get broader choice and better price. I've passed by this little market several times when in the area and never stopped in until yesterday. My sweet tooth needed a little something and boy did it get it's fill. The Mudslide Cookie is a huge cookie worth every bit of the $2.50 I was charged. This has got to be THE VERY BEST COOKIE I have ever eaten! Seriously! If you like chocolate, this is your cookie. Full of creamy cocoa yumminess. OMG! I nearly went into a food coma, and it took me a good hour to get through it. The only thing missing was a cold glass of milk. We had the best Thanksgiving meal provided by Colonial Farms. The turkey was perfect, sweet potato souffle was a dream and even my mother-in-law liked it! Mmmm tortellini.... My secondary family lives right down the road from here, and as secondary offspring I've been sent on many an errand to Colonial Farms. It's a darling little supermarket sporting high-end grocery items, but in this part of PA I'd expect no less. The real lure of this location lays behind the counter, so don't lean too close or you might end up drooling on the glass once you catch sight of all the pre-made goodies. There's a deli that will whip you up a sandwich as big as your head, but really it's the prepared dishes that are so amazing here. The antipasto dishes are a favorite, as are the mixed veggies. As a secondary family member, I've often stopped in here to pick up a side dish or two to compliment my secondary mom's dinner plans. They're just a stone's throw away from the park, too, so if you're feeling the urge for an impromptu picnic you can get everything you need here. read more

Ordered a sanded from this place for lunch. Bread was stale. Had way too much lettuce, one piece of cheese and a huge clump of sliced turkey. Leaving my doctor's appointment, I asked for a recommendation for a quick spot to grab lunch and the receptionist said, "Colonial Farms. Definitely." So, I stopped by and eyed the delicious-looking pre-made tomato-mozarella sandwiches before ordering a customized sandwich at the deli counter. The Boar's Head Turkey, goat cheese, and pesto mayo combination was delicious and fresh on a nice, soft hoagie. On my way out, I was drawn in by the "Best of Philly 2011: Cupcake" sign and bought 2 of the gourmet ones to try. The Pumpkin with the Cinnamon Cream Cheese icing was pretty delicious, reminding me a lot of a carrot cake. The Chocolate Mousse had a little too much chocolate and was not as light as I would have liked from mousse. Convenient and reliable for being able to pick up something for lunch or a breakfast treat. I also love the fact that they carry European items like Orangina and good cheeses, chocolates like in a French or Italian corner store. Colonial Farms is much more than a convenience grocery. Baked goods, prepared meals (both cold and hot) deli meats, sandwiches and salads; ALL EXCELENT. The staff is courteous and almost always smiling. They are a bit pricey, but like I said all quality. I would not do my grocery shopping there, but it is great for last minute items if you don't want to drive to the grocery store in neighboring Newtown. The food was fantastic and Nick, who helped me with it, could not have been kinder, during a very stressful time for me, or more helpful. I wanted it to be the best it could possibly be and it was. I have headed up different functions and used other catering services and have been to many catered affairs. This experience was the best. So very grateful.
