I only see Alexa for my cleanings. She is the perfect person for someone like me with high anxiety when I'm in a dentist chair. I have a lot going on in my mouth and Alexa gives solid advice, she keeps it real, and she does a very thorough job of cleaning. I've had others in this office and trust me; Alexa is the one you want. Heads-up at check out, I have spent as much at 15 minutes on waiting to be called to pay for services or be told no charge and later get a bill. Subject: Very Disappointed With the Virginia Beach Location -- Norfolk Location Treats Patients With Respect I want to share a deeply disappointing experience I had at the Virginia Beach location. I would strongly recommend that anyone with darker skin avoid this office and continue using the Norfolk location instead, where I have always been treated with dignity and respect. Today, I was told to come into the office, only to be informed--after I arrived--that I had a balance and they could not see me. No one asked whether I could pay the balance, nor did they mention that this would prevent my appointment. I have an HSA card and could have taken care of the balance immediately, but the way they handled the situation completely dismissed that possibility as I no longer wanted to trust them with my care!!! To make matters worse, they announced that I needed to step into the back for a "financial issue" in front of everyone in the lobby, which was both unprofessional and embarrassing--especially considering I have not been to this office in two years. Their assumption that I had no ability to pay, and the overall treatment I received, felt discriminatory. I have never been treated this way at the Norfolk location. The owner and dentist said I had infections in all my implants. Wanted me to get my upper and lower done again... big surgery... put me under for 5 hours. I had my cleaning with Dental Hygienist Alexa (in the VA BEACH, VA office) and I cannot recommend her enough!!! I generally have high anxiety when it comes to the dentist, but "My Dental Hygienist Alexa" takes care of me EVERY SINGLE TIME and she is always incredibly gentle, warm, and personable. She takes time to explain the entire cleaning process, answered all my questions, and made me feel completely at ease. I've been going to the Foleck Center for four years and I've been very pleased. Dr. Foleck did my first implant and it was done perfectly I'd say. He is extremely knowledgeable and thorough. I've also been seeing Dr. Maroon who has done crowns and a bridge. I can't say enough about his work as he is a perfectionist and you will always be pleased with his procedures, his ability to make you comfortable and his gentleness. Marilyn, who assists him with his procedures, is the best I've encountered in the dentist industry. My experiences ranged from a trainee who was unable to take x-rays to Dr. Maroon identifying my implant as needing a crown to now staff insisting that a routine check-up is only necessary every 10 month, despite insurance coverage and my request. I had to have an extraction for an infected tooth.and I was a bit apprehensive. Scarlet was my primary assistant and made me feel at ease right away. Several of the other assistants came by and offered to help in anyway they could, even holding my hand during the injections, which was smooth and effective. Dr Salerno allowed ample time the anesthetic to take effect, I opened wide and next thing I knew, I was done. The front desk personal even offered to help-great experience. Good for everyday dental, hygiene, and cleanings. More involved work becomes complicated. Long time patient for many years, from Gladstone and Salerno, diagnosed with cancer 2021. I got a clean bill of dental health from the Foleck Center, before I started cancer treatments. I never had major dental issues before this. Staff was nice and the facilities are nice and corporate looking. But they Would not work with me at all when I maxed out my dental insurance for the year, after chemo destroyed my teeth. I paid much upfront, draining small emergency savings. Then I find out later, that my insurance was able to contract lower prices bc even tho I was maxed out, I was still in network. It took almost a whole year to complete my current treatment plan, that I just finished. But I did need a lot of work after cancer treatments. I'm currently searching for a dentist who is willing to work with me. Had I known I would need ongoing treatment, and that my treatment plan wouldn't be enough to fix all my dental issues, I would not have financed through your third party, that you recommended for me, at high interest. I was desperate after chemo to have my teeth fixed. I do still need more work done, but I am also paying an excessively high monthly bill on the work I already had completed. Like, charging for a root canal, and charging for a crown on the same tooth. Then, a separate charge for the core build-up, which my insurance has said should have technically been included in the price of the root canal and crown service. times four. I do wish I had brought someone along to advocate for me. I was desperate and experiencing brain fog from cancer treatments. If It needed to come down to a loan or credit, I could have gotten a much better deal from my bank. But the way they guide you to the financing. kinda like buying a used car. I was scared and I just wasn't thinking clearly. I have tried to get in touch with the manager a few times, and she promised she would look into it, and get back with me. Unfortunately, that didn't happen. I've been debating posting a photo of what my teeth look like today, after my year long, five figure, treatment plan. But that's embarrassing, even for me. I don't just wear a mask to work because I'm afraid of getting Covid. Also, I recommend asking for an itemized receipt after every visit, and using it to compare with your insurance. I think the reason the reviews are so high, is because they offer something if you post a review from your cleaning chair. A free fluoride treatment or something. I can't remember what exactly. I came in for a broken tooth and was already a patient. Instead of fixing the tooth, which is what I called on the appointment for, they decided to treat me like a new patient and build a laundry list of other things they wanted to fix that weren't an immediate ergency, then made me schedule the repair which was 2 weeks out. 2 days later the tooth that only required a filling was now infected and requires a root canal and a crown. Pure fuckin neglect. All they care about is the quickest way into your wallet and not about your dental care. Stay far away from this place. read more

TL;DR - they're a bunch of lying, lazy crooks. Do not waste your time or hard earned money with the orthodontic or front office staff. On Sept 30, 2021 I came in for a routine cleaning and noticed the poster on the wall for orthodontics. My front two teeth had twisted over the pandemic after my retainers were destroyed. I inquired, briefly spoke to the orthodontist Dr K, and was quoted $800 for a three month treatment. Unfortunately, nothing after would be simple. I was told it would take a couple weeks for the retainers to arrive and if I don't hear from them, give them a call. I thought that was strange since they do this all the time. Well, after two months, I give them a call and magically they arrive less than 2 weeks from that call. Now we're in mid-November to START treatment. I return in March. Olga acts as if we're automatically done and I tell her, "I hope not because the two front teeth are still twisted." She looks panicked, gets Dr K, and he quickly goes "yep! Scan her again for a refinement." So we do the same process to get new aligners ordered. This time it takes me calling and a total time of 3 months in between! It's June and we're still not done, another two months of treatment happens. It's august. The front desk gal says the doc isn't in so I say, "whoever is here is fine." Clearly she didn't hear me or didn't want to correct me so to the back I go. Olga is back and tells me she'll be taking the records, Dr K will review when he's back, and I proceed to explain this is completely unacceptable. Given how long every step has taken, I have zero faith he will actually do what she says and I've been jerked around for nearly a year! She tells me she'll do her best to make sure he does it and that my treatment aligners (because we're STILL not done) are in for my next appointment in 4 weeks. Next appointment, I'm sitting in the waiting area, Linda calls me "hoping I wasn't there yet" to tell me the aligners have not yet arrived. I cannot believe it. I go to her desk and she explains she's been on vacation, just returned, and is sorry no one told me. She also tells me Dr K and the lab still haven't "finalized" my treatment and it's going to be at least a week due to production when they do! She leaves me to confirm with Dr K that he and the lab will be able to reach an agreement soon. While she's gone, yet ANOTHER assistant/hygienist comes up and proceeds to insert herself into the situation and tell me it'll be a MONTH before the aligners are in. "Absolutely not!" I exclaimed. I proceed to tell her that's not acceptable and update her on the situation. I also let them know that we're not out of time between the 5 months lost to "production" and now I'm moving out of the country by the beginning of November. Meanwhile a redhead that sits behind Linda hears all of this and offers the first bit of a decent solution, "why can't we overnight them once they're done". Needless to say, that's what they decide to do. Dr K insists I come in at the end of October so he can see my teeth one last time, order the retainers, and he'll have them shipped to me in Australia. The retainers were supposed to arrive at the Foleck office at the beginning of November. After SEVERAL emails to the office trying to track down some information on them, I finally get a response, nothing they had been going down a "paper trail" to get me the tracking number. The retainers were not put in the mail until AFTER Christmas, nearly 8 weeks after what they stated - and lying in the email response. read more

Never got a call, now August when I call they say first available is Decembet 19. I asked for a refund and they said the would credit less than one third of what I had already paid. I had an appointment for a teeth whitening at the Hampton office. A few weeks earlier I had gone in for an exam and cleaning at another Foleck office on Kecoughtan. This one was near Cunningham. They don't do whitening there and recommended the other office. My wife dropped me off for my 1:30 appointment and left to run errands. When I checked in I was told my appointment was CANCELLED and was told I canceled it. I said I absolutely did not and had just answered an appointment confirmation a few days earlier. I never received cancellation notification and she said it was canceled two days ago. After some back and forth she said I couldn't have an appointment without approval of my primary care doctor at the VA--something about blood pressure and the fact if I had decay, the procedure would be painful. Did I mention I had just be examined by their Dentist on Kecoughtan? I don't use the VA for dental. I use outside dentists for everything. I tried to reschedule, but the earliest opening was in April--past our photo shoot date. The Foleck Centers right hand does not know what their left hand is doing and they have different standards of care at their facilities. As a Retired Air Force Colonel, I would tell my thousands of Veteran friends in the numerous organizations I belong to, to stay away from Foleck. read more

Never on time always 15 to 30 minutes behind. Today waited 20 minutes after appointment and was finally called in. Made a statement about running late and dental hygienist immediately got defensive. Took my temp and stated this is a medical facility and walked off towards work area. I followed and she started in on me again about this being a medical facility and they handle emergencies and can run late. At that point there was no way I was allowing this person in my mouth with sharp instruments. I stated well it appears I have pissed you off and walked out. My 3 month old son had a laser frenectomy (tongue/lip tie release) done but Dr. Hamlin last week, and I can not recommend this practice enough. The procedure itself was short and he was able to latch on right away. The staff was very caring towards my son, he was smiling and giggling almost the whole time! Dr. Hamlin made sure that I was comfortable too! She had a private area for me to nurse my son that even had an essential oil diffuser! My son is healing very well and he is gaining weight so much better since his procedure! read more

When the procedure was done it had a chalky look, due to the teeth being dry. And the beach being applied over and over. However, today it looks AMAZING!! I enjoyed every bit of this experience despite the sensitivity afterwards. I recommend everyone; at least once in your life...get this done. And get it done at the Foleck Center on Independence Blvd in Virginia Beach VA. They are AWESOME SAUCE!! And they always treat their patients with kindness and respect. My extended family. Years ago, I had surgery and it was performed by Adam Foleck. He knew that there was a serious infection in my mouth and that another doctor had pulled a tooth from that site and had left part of the tooth in my mouth. after removing the rest of the tooth and the tooth next to it, the site did not heal and all that he said was I don't like the way this looks. Later he gave me the names of two other Doctors. I went to one that was close to my job and was told he didn't find anything wrong, that some people lived with it and that it was no ones fault. Dr. Foleck made a note stating that he had given me the names of those Doctors to cover his sorry hide. I have the infection still with blood and pus erupting from that site. I asked why he couldn't repair it and he said he didn't want to open up a can of worms. I realize now that he didn't know what he was doing and just saw a way of making more money. I trusted this man and would like to inform people that he is no good and a big liar. I too had that sorry insurance because he wouldn't work with me and they are a nightmare. I'm about to lose another tooth because of the infection. When looking for a Dentist, if the prices are too high look else where and if the name is Adam Foleck , don't go there. I had the worst experience ever with the Office Manager Michelle. She was rude and non sympathetic to my request. I asked to speak to someone over her she stated that she was the Office Manager and no one else was available. There is always someone over you in a Practice especially since she isn't a Foleck. Issue is my son had some work prior to going to college, it fell out the next day. I called the center and they suggested he return when he comes home from school. Well according to Michelle the work obviously was not documented. I have the printed documentation. Either way he is covered by two Insurance Companies and if I needed to pay I would. She has definitely lost me as a Patient and I will not recommend anyone else to that Practice. read more

My dentist Dr Solerno recently merged his practice with this dental practice. Today was my first scheduled cleaning with the new, merged, moved practice. I had scheduled it for 2:15 when I left my last 6 month appt. I already wasn't thrilled with the new location, since it's at least twice as far from my house as where I've been going for the last 20 years. But I generally hate to change doctors, dentists, hair stylists, etc. Monday afternoon, less than 3 days before my appt, I got a computer text asking me to reply with C to confirm my 1:40 appt. Again, note that I had made my appt for 2:15. So I called first thing the next morning to talk to a human. I told her I didn't confirm their 1:40 appt b/c I had a 2:15 appt. She said "Oh, well, since we had to merge two office schedules, we had to change some appts.". No explanation or apology about why they did that WITHOUT CONSULTING ME. So I told her I couldn't make a 1:40 appt (which was why I had made a 2:15). She was able to get me a 2:40 appt on the same day as my original 2:15, since somebody had cancelled. (More on that later.) So I took that. I showed up today at 2:39 for my 2:40. The parking lot was PACKED. Dr Solerno's office used to have plenty of empty spaces to choose from, close to the door. I drove around the lot twice, but the only spaces available were handicapped spaces. Fortunately, (or unfortunately, depending on your level of pain), I have a handicapped placard that I can use on bad days, and today was a bad day, but inexplicably, THEIR HANDICAPPED SPOTS ARE SOME OF THE MOST DISTANT FROM THE MAIN ENTRANCE. So even though I had driven past them originally as being too far from the entrance, I parked in one. Limped to the door. And then I saw the sign on the door that said "Stop! Go back to your car and call this number to let us know you have arrived. We'll call you back when we're ready for you". I had talked to a human being in their office day before yesterday on the phone. SHE COULDN'T HAVE SAVED ME THIS PAINFUL WALK BY TELLING ME THIS REQUIREMENT????? So I called. The phone rang 17 times before it was answered. I told her I was there for my 2:40 appt but was told by their sign to stay outside. She said they would call in "a couple of minutes" when they were ready for me. Since I was expecting "a couple of minutes" and my back and hip told me that wasn't worth the long trip back to the car and back to the door, I sat on the front bumper of an SUV right outside the front door. And waited. And waited. After 5 minutes, the woman in the next car over rolled down her window and called out to me "Isn't this ridiculous???" I agreed with her. She told me she was only there b/c she had come from my same dental practice. She was unhappy b/c of the distance too, and about being forced to sit in the car. She also told me their prices went up since the merge, but she had already started some dental work with them and didn't want to change dentists during the process. Thankfully, I have only needed routine cleanings at 6 months for several years, and my insurance pays for those. After I sat outside for 20 minutes with no call, I left for home. They called me 2 minutes later to tell me they were ready to bring me in to fill out some paperwork. I explained that I hadn't booked a 3:00 for paperwork, but a 2:40 appt for a cleaning (ignoring the fact that I had actually booked a 2:15 appt). I now have an appt with a dentist that my next door neighbor highly recommended, that's way closer to home, and it's IN network with my dental insurance. Dr Solerno had been out of network. Freddy is my favorite hygienist in the world! He is so gentle and makes me feel safe. I've brought my children to Freddy and they love him! He has a magic touch with little ones for sure! The only thing I can mention about making appointments is you HAVE to ask for the hygienist you want or they will just put you with anyone. Arrived to my appointment 25 minutes early, checked in, and waited patiently to be seen. 43 minutes later and exactly 18 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, the hygienist arrived to hand me initial patient paperwork. I quickly addressed the forms, all of which could have been completed during my extended wait. I was particularly annoyed each time I witnessed patients arrive and then quickly depart the waiting area for services, while I waited. Perhaps my experience was the exception, as the majority of the reviews are overwhelmingly positive. Ironically, one of the forms I signed highlighted the responsibility of patients to arrive on time. My wife is a fan of this establishment, so I really want this to work. On a positive note, the doctor and hygienist were professional and knowledgeable. I am not a fan of the way this appointment started, but I am pleased with all actions after actual services commenced. read more
