A group of 10 of us were seated at the bar for brunch. The staff were so amazing and took care of us like we were at their best table. And then the food. The siracha cream sauce took breakfast tacos to a whole different level. I highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

If you want coffee selections like you get at Starbucks, you need to get to The Old Forge. The coffee bar is set apart from the restaurant and has an employee stationed at the counter to service the coffee only customers. I ordered an iced cafe mocha and it was so good that I went back in the afternoon for another! My family has been vacationing at Put-In-Bay every summer for the past 20 years and we each have our favorite restaurant. While there, in the local paper, I read about the chef of The Old Forge and we all went for breakfast on our last day there. I wish we'd gone the first day. The food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. I think the prices were better than the other restaurants we'd been to all week. The menu offers a good selection of sweet or savory crepes and also a few grilled sandwiches. I really loved the cinnamon butter (not sugary) served with the waffles and the breakfast potatoes (I'd call them home fries) were cooked through and browned without being greasy. read more

This is my first time on the island and we were looking for a good breakfast spot. Upon looking at Yelp reviews we saw Old Forge received a 4.5 star average, the restaurant definitely didn't disappoint. We both ordered coffee that was refilled promptly, we ordered crepe entrees, Pecos Bill and Jackie O, both were delicious and different from the breakfast norm. We also shared a Nutella crepe that was phenomenal. Sean, our server, continually checked in and asked if we needed anything. I tried to order the walleye, but they were out. The B-Rock sliders were good. They are more like small hamburgers than sliders. The fries were below average. I ordered the potato & kale hash hoping it would be something interesting. Unfortunately, it was just deep fried potato chunks with kale and a lot of garlic sauce. Our bachelor party of 10 ate here three times in three days. At the end of the weekend, we all left with Forge shirts because we loved it so much. The crepes are fantastic, especially the classic and the cheesecake ones. The coffee is delicious and the servers are quick and friendly. We asked to be seated outside and our waiter did an amazing job of checking-in with us frequently but not obnoxiously. I had the blackberry mojito, the blackberries were delicious and gave the drink a wonderful flavor, but it was clear a little too much sugar had been added. The appetizers sounded delicious and in an attempt to not over order, as we usually do, we decided to skip a main entree. The meatballs were mediocre, large portions with somewhat bland sauce. The truffle fries were delicious, with the perfect amount of parmesan. We had two crepes one with the roasted chicken which I did not care for and one for dessert with lemon and raspberry which was amazing. Great place to eat on Put-in-Bay. The Captain Berry crape is my favorite - a crape filled with fresh strawberry's, blueberry's and raspberry's with a touch of yogurt. The breakfast crapes with eggs is also very good. For dinner I got the burger sliders and they were fantastic. The Old Forge is just off the main strip across from the Beer Barrel. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and you can bring your dog if you plan to eat outside. This is definitely my favorite restaurant on the island and reasonably priced. read more

Was there on May 16, 2015 and we hated it. Our waitress did not get our order right. Instead, we waited for our food for about 45 minutes. I mean, we were a party of seven and they had the audacity to charge us money for EACH CUP of coffee. Then came back and said "I was just kidding about charging for each cup". I wanted my eggs medium and not poached and it still came out poached. Asked her 3 times. At least the manager came out and helped us which and I feel bad for her but I think that the waitress we had was a newbie and didn't know how to SERVE or at least TALK TO PEOPLE. As for the gratuity, I was not happy since it clearly stated for party of" 6 or more" made me a little mad. Pros: Clean place. We were seated right away and made our beverages out (but she still screwed it up). Great atmosphere and the place has a nice feel to it. Cons: Look at the paragraph. The waitress we had needs to be furthered trained in both sides of the spectrum: customer service and how to waiter Other than that, if we didn't have that waitress, I would've been happy there OH WELL. Basically to me the best place on the island to get breakfast. I've tried plenty of different places on the island and most are mediocre at best. This place has never failed to make my morning taste buds happy. Yes you will have to wait awhile for service and your food but that's because they are so incredibly busy. You even see servers for the other establishments stopping here for eats. Now onto their offerings. They have a neat menu that encompasses breakfast crepes of any ilk you can think of. They gave traditional breakfast along with waffles and different types of Benedicts. They also have breakfast sandwiches. I ordered the Billy Boyd crepe with breakfast potatoes and a cafe mocha. Hubby got the Classic crepe with breakfast potatoes and a coffee. When you order specialty drinks it takes a bit to receive them because they make them up fresh. My crepe had bacon cheddar tomato and arugula. It was sooo darn good with the crunch of the bacon the freshness of the tomato and arugula and sharpness of the cheese made for an explosion of flavor in my mouth. We were here at their grand opening. This means we got to try several items off their menu. Everything was so fresh and delicious. If you want high quality food, this is where you want to eat at. Yummy different food...wish I'd known they also have specialty coffee drinks...not really advertised when you walk by and we walked by many times as it was right around the corner from our hotel. We ate breakfast here...I had a crepe and hubs had the breakfast tacos...really good and lots of other different menu items in addition to traditional fare. Probably the best food on PIB. Staff is knowledge, orderly and not at all trying to push you out the door. The food quality and overall value for what you get are superb! Every time we come to PIB we ensure we have a meal here. Also, they've expand their drink and food menu! We stopped for breakfast here on Tuesday. Service was slow, even though we were one of only about 5 tables seated. Waitress was supposed to bring sugar/sweetener for coffee- never showed back up to our table. Food came out cold- as if it were sitting for 20 minutes. We discovered the Old Forge in July 2015 for breakfast. Had a great breakfast followed with Commander Berry Crepe which was delicious! Great service, nice relaxed atmosphere and seems to be a hidden gem. It is our "good to" place for breakfast the morning we depart. Wish we had discovered it sooner! read more
