Can you find the sign that says cash only?

Good food. Great service. BUT! I walk up to pay and I'm told cash only. They get 1 star for not posting CASH ONLY anywhere except behind the register in the wall facing towards the interior of the diner. (See Photo) I am sick and tired of these diners not posting cash only on the door before you enter where it can easily seen. I would had went elsewhere as I forgot my cash at home. It's a scam in order to get you to use their ATM. As much as I enjoyed my breakfast, I refuse to support an establishment that scams its customers.

If you ever leave NJ, one of the things you will miss most are NJ diners. Forked River Diner seemed like it fit the bill for NJ diner experience I've missed so much. Really old school looking place, but clean. Mozzarella sticks and blueberry pancakes were everything I could have imagined them to be. The sticks were divine, and even the sauce was good. Other items like bagels and ham & eggs were more ehhhh (luckily for me I didn't order them though).

I wanted to go to a place with that quintessential New Jersey diner feel that it's so famous for, and this place is totally it. After a friends weekend in LBI, we stumbled upon this adorable vintage spot. And oh my gosh, the coffee? Exactly like the classic diner brew we'd been gushing over earlier. The service was speedy, and the food was delicious! Everything tasted so fresh, oh just make sure to ask for the water ;) This diner is a must if you're nearby.

Amazing food and service - a real throwback to the good old days! I try to come here at least once on every trip back to Jersey!

Porkroll, egg & cheese with tatters. Hearty breakfast with 5 slices of meat.

There are a ton of interesting and unique coffee drinks, sweet breakfasts, and omelets. The meat lovers (ham, bacon, and sausage) was a bit salty, but a side of fruit balanced that out, and the sourdough bread was light and fresh. The tres leches pancakes was overindulgent but very sweet. The whip cream was too much as the pancakes themselves were enough of a treat. Some of the pancakes came topped with ice cream which is a mood, but I'm trying not to go too crazy. The service was great, and there are a lot of interesting menu items I'd like to try again. Coffee was kind of weak. Plenty of parking and clean bathrooms. It was quiet on a weekday, but I think there's really something for everyone on the menu and look forward to coming back.

The young waiter seemed helpful and knew the menu. That's the very end of the good part. Since prices were high side here, we expected good food made to our preference. After all, it was only simple breakfast. My wife's eggs ordered sunny side up and soft came over done and hard. My "sizzling steak" with eggs ordered scrambled Very soft came with the eggs not even warm and overcooked stiff. The 'Sizzling Steak' was anything but. It came in a sizzle type plate, but was gray and looked and tasted like badly boiled cheap meat. I say boiled because the plate had zero sizzle and it was drowning in lukewarm brown water. It looked and tasted awful. When I finally got the waiter's attention, he got what I assumed the kitchen manager. She was polite and seemed eager to right this. She had a second order made for me... That was worse than the first. Same overdone hard but barely warm eggs. This time they even tasted funny. Not good. The steak.... Another gray slab of very bad meat. This was The Most expensive breakfasts on their menu. As I write this, I'm still sitting with a sick stomach from the little I forced down of it. In small consolation, I asked for my breakfast cost be removed, as I wasn't going to let them try 3 times a charm. This was a first visit. But I honestly can't see attempting a second as we both feel stomach sick after.

My boyfriend and I came to the Waterfront for the first time a few days ago, and I cannot say enough great things about it. The bacon wrapped dates appetizer are a MUST! The staff seemed genuinely friendly and fun to interact with. The band was so talented, and sunset view over the water was immaculate. Our bartender Katie was awesome, and made us a delish rum bucket to match the vibes. Manager Vinny was so kind and a pleasure to talk with. We even had the opportunity to talk with the owner, Joe, who was so friendly and welcoming. Great music, genuinely delicious food and fun friendly staff results in a really great date night. You don't want to miss the funky and eclectic offerings and "if you're here you're family" atmosphere. Our first visit was for a late breakfast at about 11am on a rainy Sunday of a holiday weekend, so it wasn't surprising that the was a short wait. When the hostess said 20-30 minutes someone else in line immediately responded "it's worth the wait" and I agree. I had the The Waffle Slamwich "alternating layers of bacon, sausage, pork roll, egg & cheese between Belgian waffles with bourbon butter maple syrup." I ordered has browns because I saw an order come out and they looked really good. They were, but we're also unnecessary. The Slamwich was more than enough and I'm a big eater. My wife had French toast and a side of bacon. The portion was also generous but she ate it all som it must have been good. I forgot to ask because I was so busy enjoying the many flavors of my meal. The sweetness of the waffle and syrup perfectly offsetting the salty breakfast meats. Coffe was good, too, and obviously fresh. And my cup was 'magically' refilled every time I set it down. We're planning a trip back for lunch...but not today...still full. Guy says "if it's funky I'll find it" but do yourself a favor and find Lacy Diner first, before word gets around, or you might not get a seat.

The waitress handled herself with such grace and kindness after the man continued to give her a hard time. After she walked away, they started laughing and the one guy said, you're too much. It was clear that he wasn't being honest. He certainly wasn't a veteran and sadly the couple we were with has a son serving in the military. Unfortunately, this man took advantage of this opportunity and I was upset to see that someone would lie about serving our country. I did compliment the waitress for handling that table with dignity after being treated so poorly. She did say they honored a 10% off discount for him and it wasn't warranted because he lied.
