DO NOT EVEN THINK OF SENDING YOUR DRY CLEANING TO THESE DISREPUTABLE, INCOMPETENT, WOULD-BE DRY…read moreCLEANERS. After a major move, I dropped off a new suit and an overcoat at sister laundry mat/dry cleaners, Bangor Street Laundromat, 56 Western Ave., Augusta, ME. From there, it was then sent to John's Green Cleaners, 355 Main St, Lewiston, ME 04240. A week later, John's returned my black suit and overcoat to Bangor Street Laundromat where I discovered that both items were severely heat-damaged: the suit in the lapel, waist area, and front and back shoulders; the overcoat was a mass of wrinkles caused by seams that had shrink considerably and totally deformed and diminished each garment. Overzealous or inexperienced pressing had permanently damaged both items. Owner Greg at first responded to a phone call and asked to be given opportunity to correct matters. I sent the damaged items back to John's for a second pressing attempt. A week later, the still-damaged items were miserably the same. Phone calls to Greg's cell and the business went unanswered for at least two weeks. Finally, I wrote an email including the below photo links demanding the filing of a damages claim. Eventually an unknown "John's Cleaner" employee responded to my email by text (unprofessional) and included a photo of theirs still showing the obviously-damaged suit jacket on their presser with warpage all around. Within the text, John's took no responsibility for having damaged both items, provided no means of filing a damage claim, and offered a self-serving resolution: that I subject further articles of clothing to their abuse and receive a one-time 30% discount. Apparently, Greg sees small claims court as the preferred means to resolve damages disputes with his clients. Do yourself a favor: stay away from Bangor Street and all of John's Green Cleaner's affiliates throughout Maine.

Everyone is super helpful, smiles and greets you with a smile and a hello. They have national brands and local stuff too like local raw honey, Coca Cola products and Moxie a local Maine soda. Upstairs there is a gun store, fishing tackle, Men's and womenswear including wedding dresses and downstairs there are guns and, tools, hardware supplies (we got a drill bit to drill into concrete) and everything else. There is parking in front of the store but if the lot is full there is more space across the street. I think this is the only store.within 20 miles but the prices seem decent and not your typical up charges for convince. There is a customer service department that handles lotto winners and licenses. Truly one of the nicest people ever works there. The wine selection was not great but wines snobs can't always get what they want. The butcher shop was solid. Super nice guys there with big smiles and hellos. Just courteous people there from the staff to the shoppers. I like this store! Oh and I got a homemade blueberry pie!

They also have a great selection of toys with brand names such as Melissa & Doug as well as other names. The best part is everything is so much less expensive than the mall or a regular store selling the same thing. I took a young woman in there for the first time the other day. She tends to like the finer things in life but as just a working class girl she can't really afford a Michael Kors bag. She loved the store. She found an MK bag in there that she wanted and is saving to get. It was probably at least half what you would pay in the mall. They also have a nice line of jewelry and I always recommend them to people looking to purchase luggage as they have nice luggage and great prices on these things also.

For this reason, I am cancelling my credit card and will avoid going to this place in the future. What a horrible experience that was!!! I really want to rate this place a big fat ZERO!!!
