As a bar for apres ski festivities, the Foundry stands up pretty well in Killington. The beer selection is good, including plenty of craft brews and some local suds. The wood paneled bar area, stage for live music, and big couch in the back make for an incredibly relaxing night after a long day on the slopes. However, as what is widely lauded as Killington's premier dining establishment, I found it lacking. The wait was abysmal. We were quoted six parties in front of us, which would somehow be a 1.5 hour wait. Granted, they have a limited number of tables, but at nearly 9:00 at night, this seemed high. Still, we decided to wait with some drinks at the bar. Checking in on the app an hour later, we found we were down to four parties in front of us still. At this point we were nearly asleep at the bar from a day skiing, so decided if we weren't close to being seated, we'd find something else. Upon checking back in, I was told it would be a mere five more minutes. When ten minutes passed, I checked in with the hostess again, who had somehow forgotten who I was though no one else had spoken to her in that time, and we were the only group waiting. Luckily, her incompetence was checked by another hostess who finally seated us. I can't help believe that if I had checked in with the other hostess first, or checking in much earlier, we would have been immediately seated. As it was, we were among the last seatings of the night and the majority of the tables were empty. Beside the poor hostess situation, service was pretty good with warmth and fairly fast. The food was good, but largely average, perhaps due to trying to live up to the hype I had heard. The food would be a decent if slightly below average seafood restaurant in NYC. The risotto tots were good but were a bit starchy and felt a bit premade. The buffalo drumstix were nice huge legs of chicken with a tasty buffalo sauce, but clearly doused in the sauce after cooking, so it didn't permeate the skin. The catch of the day, a snapper with a fruity salsa was quite nicely cooked, though the salsa could have been a little brighter and fresher tasting. The scallop ravioli were also on the starchy side, and the scallops were a little rubbery to my taste. And the pork chop was well cooked and tender, though slightly dry. The ambiance is nice with an upscale ski lodge feel, but for the price there are better options in the area. read more

I made reservation through yelp, when arrived, was told they did not work with yelp, reservation did not count, and the hostess said similar things happened a lot, people would make reservation on yelp, but actually the reservation did go through restaurant's system, ending up wasting time and waiting for another hour. I was not sure if she was trying to make me feel better? To me, it was such a bad way to treat customers, you already knew this kept happening a long time ago but did nothing to fix it?!?! How about cancel/disconnect the online reservation service with yelp. I could have called if I did not see online reservation option. Instead, cold, tired after skiing, being told wait list was more than one hour. Several guests after me also had the same problems, this happened several times per night , and you did nothing to fix it? It is very disrespectful to customers. read more

Tried here on a Saturday night. Lot was full. Ambience was nice but dark. I had the broiled haddock with Portuguese sausage soup appetizer. Soup was fair. The fish was good with a pesto topping. Rice was so so. The salad on the side of the plate had something really strong and bitter in it and I couldn't eat it. My wife's Marsala used crimini mushrooms and had little mushroom flavor. She did get a large portion and was unable to finish it. The service was awful. The waitress walked by our table twice, looked at my wife's empty glass and walked off without asking if she wanted a refill. She did the same with my wine glass. Then she tried to overcharge me for the wine. I had to have her change the bill. All in all, the food was ok but not worth the price. I would certainly not recommend the service. read more

I had my rehearsal dinner here and The Foundry delivered from start to finish. Working with Kate was a pleasure. She helped us customize the menu & sort out shuttle rides after the meal over to The Pickle Barrel. The waitstaff who orchestrated our drinks & meal were exceptional. They worked with us to match speeches with band breaks so we could have live music and quiet time for speeches and helped me deliver my groomsmen gifts as a surprise. The upstairs venue is perfect for large groups and the fireplace is a nice touch. After dinner, the downstairs bar was the perfect place for people to meet up after dinner with other people in town for the wedding. As for the food..... It blew me away. I don't typically hold high expectations for ski town restaurants unless it is Aspen or Courcheval. In general ski town restaurants have a hard time competing with NYC and SF and other foodie cities. Sure, you can get a steak but a great steak? Great Ahi Poke? Great Pork Chops? Great vegetables? Sean, Shaun? or Shawn? (spelling?) in the kitchen and his crew delivered in a big way. 35 people ordering off the menu at 7:30 pm on a Friday night with a full restaurant is a tough challenge. Delivering incredible food, well timed and hot is even harder. My steak was one of the best steaks I've ever had. I've eaten at Lugers, Alexanders in SF, all of the great spots in Vegas, Texas, Brazil and many more. My experience at the foundry stands out for both the food and execution. Across the board my guests raved about the food and the service and the venue. This was a truly fantastic meal and blew away expectations for everyone. Goombays were good too! If you are having your wedding in Killington, you need to check out the foundry for your rehearsal dinner. Fantastic. Also, if you want to get fancy, see about doing some of your wedding or apres/late night wedding events at The Pickle or Jax. Great food! I ordered seafood crepes and they were amazing. Everyone in the table thought their plate was really good too. We spent the weekend on Killington for a birthday adventure. Wanting a special place for dinner, we chose The Foundry. The wines are nicely priced and the pours are big. The fresh bread with sunflower seeds and honey butter was delicious. We never eat bread when out to dinner, and this whole roll ended up gone. We ordered the scallop dish and the duck dish. Both portions were nice, and the scallops were huge and cooked perfectly. The duck was also delicious and seasoned well, however it was a bit overcooked and never came with the glaze listed on the menu. Not a huge deal, but for more than $30, you expect a little more. All in all, it was a wonderful evening and the warm lighting and fireplace made it perfectly romantic. read more

I ate at The Foundry last week and not happy. Had chicken marsala with a small breast with skin and not pounded as usual. Not reduction but gravy with mashed potatoes soaked in it. Tiny mushrooms no taste. Told server my potatoes floating and she said "they sure are" and never came back. dropped check off and no offer of coffee. Poor service. Also no veggies. Do know what statler chicken is but not for marsala. Went home for a snack after a $28.00 meal. Never again. read more

We had an exceptional meal here. Our server Chad was delightful and attentive without hovering. We had some special requests that were met with a smile. My swordfish was perfectly prepared. I was pleasantly surprised as I had heard some reports from people I know that were all across the board. Stopped in on Sunday, June 22, 2014 after having played golf at Green Mountain National for a beer and some lunch with friends. We stopped in here the other night after a day on the slopes. When I saw the white linen covered tables and fireplace in the front dining area I was a little concerned that I was really under-dressed, but over by the bar I felt comfortable in my athletic gear. The place looked really nice. All wood interior. Wide open but warm and inviting. An antique cook stove added to the nostalgic feel of the place. A live band was playing in the bar area but not too loud. Our waiter was really helpful with the menu and recommendations - something I always look for. We went with several of his suggestions and enjoyed everything: nachos, stuffed meatballs, and risotto tots. They had some interesting creations on their cocktail list also (another thing I look for) and I ordered the negroni with thyme while my husband picked a maple & bourbon concoction. The only real downside was that service was slow. The food and drinks were good and our server very personable and helpful. We would definitely eat here again. read more

Ask for fried calamari and received a big bowl of lettuce with a "few" pieces of calamari on the top, asked for a lobster chowder and received a potato chowder with many one gram of lobster. There was a live band & they were great. We sat at the bar & ordered dinner. I had the pork chop & chutney & it was fabulous. The bar tender ordered it for me bc I couldn't decide btw that or the lamb & he chose my wine, a perfect pairing of a bright on the lighter side Cabernet. Very nice grounds and atmosphere, and we had a very friendly and attentive waitress (wish I could remember her name!). The beer, wine, and cocktail lists were extensive and had great choices. We had dinner at the Foundry with a group of friends. There was a cool band playing, but the restaurant was large enough that the music was not to loud but still very cool. The beer selection was also good with a lot of local brews. I would say the food was good but not great. I had the lamb chops which had barely any meat to them and seemed under seasoned. ,My friend had the duck which was under cooked. The others had chicken Marsala which was good. I'm really sorry to say I didn't have a good experience here. I want to support local businesses, but here is my review based on... My wife and son had the lobster bisque. Was not even lukewarm. My entree was the lobster ravioli and it was not al dente - it was undercooked. Additionally the filling was a mare paste with no pieces of lobster to be found , not one in any of the ravioli's. If this would have been at an average-priced restaurant, I would even then not have been happy. But to end up with a tab at $150 without wine, I would hope I could have higher expectations. read more

Went there a couple of days ago with my family. The place was empty but it took them about 10 minutes to sit us at our table. Once we sat and finally ordered it took almost an hour for our food to come out and when it did it took about 20 minutes to get all the plates out.
